What are the teaching strategies to the 4 macro skills?

What are the four macro skill in English?

I just sign up for the people who usually seek for this answer and find nothing. I got this from the other page so give credits to them.

Here we go:

Four Macro Skills of Communication

The four macro skills of communication are listening, talking, reading and writing. This is true for essentially any language. Babies develop language skills by first listening and then speaking, followed by reading and writing. When learning a new language, the best way to do so is by engaging in a balance of each of these areas, as they are all interconnected. The skills that aren't practiced will end up being weaker.

  1. Listening
    • There are three modes of listening: competitive, passive and active. Active listening is considered the most effective because the listener is not only listening with interest, but actively acknowledging listening by brief responses. Most individuals are not as skilled at listening as they think. Depending on the study, listeners likely remember 25 to 50 percent of what they hear, according to Mindtools. Giving the speaker your undivided attention and not focusing on what you are going to say in response while he is talking is a good way to ensure you hear more of what is being said.

    Speaking
    • Speaking can be an intimidating experience, even in your native tongue, let alone when learning a new language. The best way to learn how to speak, though, is by practicing, so put your inhibitions aside and strike up a conversation whenever you are given an opportunity to do so. When speaking, be aware of your pace, try not to mumble and use expression, both so that you don't sound monotonous and to keep your listener interested.

    Reading
    • Children learn to read by first learning their ABCs and sounding out the letters to discover what sound they make. The phonetic approach to reading---using sound units to figure out the words---is arguably the best approach because theoretically, if you know the sounds, you can read any word, regardless of the difficulty level. This is also the case when learning a new language. Reading has many benefits, including improving memory (it's exercise for the brain), increasing vocabulary and exposing you to new ideas.

    Writing
    • Writing is perhaps the most complex of the communication skills and takes the most time to master. As with any other skill, it is improved through practice and a willingness to improve on past attempts. Moving beyond the basics, there are many types of writing and many levels. Writing can be a basic means of conveying information---such as in newspapers---or it can be a tool to create elaborate new worlds, much like those found in fiction novels such as The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

How were letters written in colonial times?

If children were writing to their father, Dear Sir or Honored Sir would most likely be important to start the letter. the letter closing was probably closed "With great respect,"

Or "Dutiful father".

After writing the letter they would sprinkle sand to dry the wet ink. But they would also put wax on the folded letter since there were no envelopes and there was no other way to secure the letter.

What legislation ended poll taxes literacy tests and other Jim crow laws?

Poll taxes and Literacy laws were two of the primary ways that some states kept minorities from voting. Poll taxes were set to a point that would not be difficult for White people to afford, but Very difficult for Minorities. White voters would be given something simple to read, and minorities would be given bits of Shakespeare.

Many states removed them voluntarily as they saw the way the mood of the country was moving, and as State Legislatures became more enlightened. However, for those states that did not, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended the practices everywhere for good.

The Twenty Fourth Amendment, ratified in 1964, outlawed poll taxes. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was the law that outlawed literacy tests.

Who made it a crime to teach enslaved people to read or write?

Education is empowerment. A slave who could read, might not only question the right of his owners to consider him property, but he might use those existing laws against that owner. And what about the declaration that "All men are created equal" An educated slave would have been far too much trouble in those days.

Why does Kenya have a high literacy rate?

Reason 1:Kenya doesn't practise abortion as it primarily doesn't have the sufficient equipment, this means that more children are born. Though some are still births, this still contributes towards a high birth rate Reason 2:Kenya is an LEDC (less ecenomicaly developed country). It is typical for each family to have 8 to 20 children, because they don't have retirement homes. The lack of retirement homes means that adults will need to be cared for in their old age so by having many children they will theoretically have many carers. Reason 3:Again, LEDC's have more children as there is a high infant mortality rate, by having more children more are likely to survive. An example of this would be: I want 5 children but at least 2/5 of them will die so I will have 8 children. This means i will have my required amount of children in case some die. The UK has a relatively low infant mortality rate.

Hope my editing helped, Holly.

What is Wasilla Alaska?

The City of Wasilla derives its name from Chief Wasilla, a respected local Dena'ina Athabascan Indian Chief. There is some debate about the meaning of the Chief's name. One source claims it means "breath of air" in the Dena'ina Athabascan Indian dialect. Other sources assert the name descended as a variation of the Russian name "Vasili" meaning "William". Before Anchorage was established, the settlement of Knik had served as the transport and supply hub for the region since the 1880's. With the founding of Anchorage in 1915 and the concurrent building of the Alaska Railroad as an overland supply link to Fairbanks and interior Alaska, the end was in sight for Knik. By 1917 Knik was eclipsed by the new town of Wasilla which sprang up that year after a government land auction at the point where the Alaska Railroad crossed the main supply route (the Carl Wagon Trail) for the mines in the Willow Creek Mining District now the intersection of the George Parks Highway and Main Street. The location of Wasilla also provided a better supply staging point for the Kantishna Gold Mining area near Mount McKinley and mines in the Talkeetna area. While placer (hydraulic) and hard rock gold mining had been underway in the Willow Creek Mining District since 1907, Wasilla prospered from its founding the 1917 until 1940 as the self proclaimed, "Gateway to the Willow Creek Mining District". With the exception of the latter part of WWII this was a very active mining area between 1909 and 1950. Incomplete records indicate at least 623,874 ounces of gold worth nearly $18 million dollars were produced at a time when gold was valued between 20-35 dollars an ounce. Over the years at least 50 mines and prospects have operated in this area and at the current time there are still a few active. During the Great Depression of the 1930s the federal government formed the Alaska Rural Rehabilitation Corporation to set up the Matanuska Colony for the agricultural development of Alaska. This influx of 200 farming families and supporting services meant that from 1935 until the 1960s, instead of Wasilla, the town of Palmer gradually became the primary supply and service center for this region. Palmer remained the regional commercial center until a new Glenn Highway bypassed Palmer allowing more direct travel from Wasilla to Anchorage. The subsequent development of the new George Parks Highway to Fairbanks (through Wasilla) in the early 1970s opened opportunities for the first wave of "suburbanite" settlement. This meant that with ever improving roads and business opportunities Wasilla shifted from a small town and weekend destination for people from Anchorage to a hometown for workers in Anchorage and Wasilla. Wasilla was incorporated in 1973. The current city resident population is 7,028 with a conservatively estimated population of more than 80,000 adjacent Borough residents who patronize the Wasilla business and commercial center. In Wasilla, major growth resulted from the 1970s and 80s Alaska oil boom and pipeline development and by 1984 Wasilla had again become the commercial heart of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough and for a time was the fastest growing city of its size in the United States. By the end of 2007, the City of Wasilla had 1,818 businesses registered with the Department of Finance, Sales Tax Division.
