Where is the obd1 plugin on a 1993 acura legend

it is under the front passeneger carpet it is white. I recommend going to pep boys and buuy a chiltons manual and it is quite informative. My son is learning to fix his 91 legend with this book. Good luck

I have a 1997 Chevy 2500 with a 5.7 with the same problem. From what iv been told its a head gasket. If you loose coolant and your oil looks like chocolate milk than id suspect a blown head gasket. If I were you id stop driving it now and have someone come look at it.

Last time I saw that was when my boyfriend got water in his engine. The oil came out looking like a light brown chocolate color. And even after he cleaned everything thoroughly we had to remove the oil pan. This reveled the damage from an inside of truck to down. What ended up happening is that the oil didn't get to the crankshaft and it broke to rods and the connectors to pieces

remove bottom cover on right side of dashboard, after removal, laying on your back looking up at the bottom of the dash, to your left or passenger side door you will need to remove 2 screws on another cover that will reveal the case containing the blower motor, there are 8 screws to remove on this case to reveal blower motor, after cover is removed there will be 2 screws or 8mm bolts holding the blower motor in place, remove these 2 screws, blower motor will fall into your hands.

The fuse for your alarm is the same one that wont let your car start if its out so you cant just pull the fuse most likely youll have to take it ti a dealership or have someone who knows what there doing disconect it cause if not there goes your whip

I changed the water pump and head gaskets and thermostat. Still overheated. I just took the thermostat out and it's running fine. Who knows!!

The 1991 Acura Legend starter is located on the right hand side of the engine, near the front, at the bottom. You can follow the positive battery cable from the battery to the starter.

try under air intake hose on to the right of center of engine top, there are 2 similar relays/sensors. one is relay sensor other is relay.

change your main relay, when it gets hot it it cant start the engine. I had same problem.

I don't know the Acura as they are not in the UK But it may well have safety device fitted that will not allow you to shift from park unless your foot is on the brake pedal. If this is the case, check that the brake lights are working, if they are not it may indicate a faulty brake light switch.

*Before getting into all of that, check your brake lights to make sure they are working. Since people rarely see their own brake lights most cars are designed to disable the dash lights if the brakes lights stop working (same circuit). Your dash lights only come on when you turn on the parking or headlamps, so I'm not sure why you say they go out - unless it is the switch after all. Most often, if your dash lights won't work, there's a blown fuse for your brake lights. The problem is your dash lights go out when you turn on your headlights. The technical problem is in the switch assembly that houses the turn signals and light switch (combination switch) has a faulty connector inside. On my legend this happened and when I took it apart, I saw that the brass connecter have worn over time and dirt has gotten stuck, preventing any electrical connection. At first I just cleaned the connection, but that only worked until it filled up with dirt again. I found out that you couldn�t just replace the one stick that�s broken; you have to replace the whole combination switch (its all stuck together). Eventually I phoned up the Acura dealership and they gave me a price of about $200 Canadian. But there is an easier way, phone up an auto wrecker and ask them for a combination switch, they gave me a price of $30 can. I figured since the part is still used it might have the same problem, but then again I could replace the used one almost 10 times before It matched the price of the new one. The installation is pretty easy so you can do it yourself. Unplug the battery. If you don�t have an airbag you can just pry off the center of the steering wheel and that gains you access of the bolt that holds the steering on. You may have a bit of trouble getting this bolt off; find a wrench that is long for more torque. Once that is off make sure you mark where the wheel is set before you take off the wheel, and unplug the horn. Once you have removed the steering wheel that should show you the screws that hold on the combination switch, unscrew them. The under guard normally is in the way so you might have to take that off as well. Follow the wires coming out of the combination switch and mark down where they go on the car. Pull the unit out the replace it with the new one. Put screws back in and use the sheet to plug back in all the wires. Tada fixed and with 170 dollars still in your pocket. Most wreckers have a must work policy so if the part doesn�t work then they should give you a new one.

The 1989 Acura Legend fuel injection relay switch can be found in the fuse box. The fuel injection relay switch will be in the third column, third from the top.

The fuel pump inertia switch on an Acura Legend is found directly above the hood release latch. It is behind the panel under the steering wheel.

one is in the bottom of the raidator back side, and the other is on the top of the motor that is where they are 4 the 91 anyway

Where is the thermostat located on a 1991 Acura Legend with a 6 cylinder engine

Should be on the right side, where the lower radiator hose attaches to the engine. To get to this area you have to remove the air-filter box. Locate the elbow to which the lower hose attaches; it is attached with two hex bolts. Drain the coolant, then disconnect the lower hose from the elbow and take out both bolts, and the thermostat is revealed in its 'well'. You may have to use some force to get the old unit out. Pay careful note to how the thermostat is oriented -- there are two little 'ears' that line it up.

Be sure to buy a new gasket for the thermostat when you purchase the thermostat (yes, they should sell them together, but often they don't!) and install to match the one you removed. I advise cleaning out the 'well', the seating face against which the thermostat's valve acts, and the mating face of the elbow casting you removed. I also think it a good idea to blow things out with a good brake or carburetor cleaner, then wipe and let dry. Seat the thermostat carefully in the well - it goes in with the spring facing into the engine, but it really only fits one way - being sure the 'ears' are lined up and the gasket seats all the way into the 'well' with no particles or crud behind it. When reattaching the elbow, be careful not to pinch the gasket. I used a little form-a-gasket around the edge of the joint just to be sure I won't see a leak if the gasket doesn't seat quite right.

The thermostat is located under the throttle assembly. It is at the top end of the LOWER radiator hose. Gotta leave it to the Japanese, who would have thought to put a thermostat there?

It could be an injector that leaks built up fuel pressure while the engine is off. Once the fuel evaporates or seeps past the pistons, the engine starts again. A simple fix might be to add some injector cleaner for the next few fillups.
