Why do some people have allergic reactions to insects and others do not?

For the same reason that some people are allergic to peanuts or milk and others aren't. It's partly environmental (based on your exposure to the offending item) and partly genetic. My brother used to catch and crush (yeah he was troubled) bees, and they often stung him. One day he had a severe reaction and has to avoid bees. Maybe it's karma but his doctor says he developed the allergy thru overexposure to bee venom. Other people can have a fatal reaction to their first bee sting.

Overexposure to an allergen will result in excessive production of IgE. B Cells in our body usually produce IgG displayed on their surface and very little of this IgG is changed to IgE (a process called Class Switching) in non-respondng individuals. For those who become allergic due to to overexposure the class switching (from IgG to IgE) increases, IgE is the antibody which can bind with mast cells and Basophils which contain active substances leading to allergic reactions. Depending upon the location these active chemicals (Histamine etc) can produce vasodilation, increased permeability of blood vessels, bronchospasm, excessive production of mucous which results in symptoms we see.

Can a child that has asthma and severe food allergies be left alone in the house of an unrelated 13 year old child for 4 hours?

No, it is not illegal. But it is against his better judgement. If this is something that you think will continue to happen take him to court for neglect.

my son was supposed to be under his father's care for the afternoon, instead he was left at the house of his father's girlfriend with her 13 year old son for 4 hours. My son is having asthma for the last 3 weeks and has severe food allergies that can put him on anaphilactic chock if he eats foods he should not. Is it legal what his dad did or not? We live in Los Angeles.

Can Burgers disease occurs with no kidney symptoms?

No.

gA nephropathy (nuh-FROP-uh-the) is a common kidney disease that occurs when an antibody called immunoglobulin A (IgA) lodges in your kidneys. This hampers your kidneys' ability to filter waste, excess water and electrolytes from your blood. Over time, IgA nephropathy - also called Berger's disease - can lead to blood and protein in your urine, high blood pressure, and swollen hands and feet.

IgA nephropathy usually progresses slowly over many years, and although some people eventually achieve complete remission, others develop end-stage kidney failure. No cure exists for IgA nephropathy, but certain medications can slow its course.

Keeping your blood pressure under control and reducing your cholesterol levels also may help keep IgA nephropathy in check.

Is Orville Redenbacher Gourmet Popcorn safe for children with severe peanut allergies?

This is a dangerous question to ask online--you should always call the company to ask about allergen information. Make sure they can 100% guarantee no possible traces of peanut in the product. Also, many companies address food allergy concerns on their websites. I know it is a bit of a pain, but worth keeping children safe.

Is it possible to be allergic to meat?

I went through a barrage of allergy testing when I was younger about 8 yrs old and the results showed that I had an allergy to beef and pork, though at the time the symptoms where mild enough to eat meat in small quantities without much effect, and eventually I seemed to outgrow the allergy, so I pretty much had put the allergy results out of my mind for many years.

When I turned 25 years old I began to have problems with stomach cramping, vomiting, severe intestinal pain, chronic constipation, diarrhea, bloating, and I was rushed to the emergency room 7 times over the next 6 years. I had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, gall bladder ultrasound, and a whole host of other tests that came up negative. I went to doctor after doctor, specialist after specialist, who kept patronizing me and acting like the pain was in my head, till finally one doctor diagnosed me with IBS and gave me medications approved for IBS symptoms, they didn't work.

The answer to my problem came in an unusual way, I took my shirt off while getting changed and my wife noticed some splotches on my back and neck, which on close examination we realized where very light hives. I went on line and looked up my symptoms but added hives in the mix and one blogger recommended taking a Benadryl for food allergies. So I immediately took a Benadryl and the results where absolutely astonishing, the symptoms eased overnight and I stayed on a regimine of Benadryl for a week, till all the symptoms dissapeared and I now take a Benadryl at the onset of problems. During my week of recovery through a process of elimination I discovered the old pork and beef allergies had returned and I have cut back my consumption to an absolute minimum.
