Almost every language that has adopted the Latin alphabet has made changed to it, in order to make it fit the language.

English added: J U and W.

Spanish added: Ch LL Ñ and RR

German added: J U W Ä Ö Ü and ß

Even the Romans themselves made a G out of a modified version of C.

There are many thousands of famous books and it would be impossible to produce a complete list.

The Phoenicians invented a phonetic alphabet, in which a letter symbolizes a sound, and those sounds can be put together to make words. The Cyrillic alphabet was developed in the 10th Century.
