Do all the regular things to unhook the alternator then take the passenger side motor mount out, jack up the engine a little and unbolt the A/C compressor and squeeze that baby out!

Actually it is bled off to ground but because of a very well designed regulation system in most alternators, there really isn't anything excess. When it is not being drawn from the alternator, it goes to the battery.

hi there,firstly dissconnect your batteries then you go to lhs side off engine if you 60 has a/c you will nedd to undo the 4 bolts that secure the unit and move out of the way .then you will see the .take the top adjustment bolt remove this bolt then underneath the alternator there is a bolt that has a 9/16 nut you willneed two spanners and to be under the car once you get this bolt out dissconnect the electrical plug and if it is diesel the oil lines.allow 30-40 minutesto remove.glen

Check the voltage at the battery posts with the engine idling. It should read from 13.5 to 15.5 volts.

Check with a voltmeter A fully charged battery should read approx. 12.8 volts without engine running When running reading should be approx. 13.8-14.2 volts

Wilson the alternator belt. With the tensioner pulley. Remove the wiring harness from the alternator. Remove the four alternator retaining bolts.

Values of insulation resistance vary according to the type of insulators and the size of the conducting material inside the insulators, for instance insulation resistance of wires or cables are determined according to type of insulation PVC-PE-XLPE-..... etc and the size of the conductor, and the standard which the wires or cables are designed upon. For example BS 5308 standard states that cables of conductors 0.5, 1, and 1.5 with PVC insulation should have a minimum insulation resistance of 25 Mohm.km . but cables with PE insulation should have a minimum insulation resistance of 5 Gohm.km ...... Check your connection. Make sure they are clean and tight. Especially your ground. Check it at the battery, alternator, motor, and frame. When you replaced that alternator, there was the heavy wire that connects to the bottom of the alternator via a nut. This connection has a rubber boot to protect it from shorting out because there's very little room around it when it's mounted in place. Check that this connection/wire isn't shorting out in that area.

disconnect battery, remove the serp belt, unbolt the alt, and take off the wires then put the new one in the way the old came off

If it is a V6 you need to remove the passenger side tire, 3 pieces of wheel well cover, drive shaft, and exhaust at the "Y" after the manifold. There are 3 bolts (13MM, as I recall) the hardest is the top bolt as 2 bolts bolt from the engine towards the wheel. The 3rd bolt attaches the alternator to a bracket. In short took us 8 hrs to remove the old one and 40 mins to install the new one and a few more hours to re-install the exhaust system, drive shaft, wheel well pieces, and the tire. What a crappy design flaw by FORD as i have changed alternators in a parking lot in less than an hour without air or a torch to heat the rusted bolts to get the exhaust loose.

You don't. You have to tear apart half of the front end to get to the alternator,.. might as well buy another car.

Disconnect the battery negative. Loosen the belt and remove it from the alternator pulley. Disconnect all wires from the alternator. Unbolt the alternator from the bracket. Remove the alternator.

This is called J Trim and you can purchase this from most building supply stores.

Put your Honda on jack stands (not on the suspension) and let the wheel droop down. Then, once you unbolt the alternator, you should be able to slide it out past the axle shaft. I'm actually going to be replacing my 86' civic's alternator this weekend.

You must unbolt the engine from the engine mount and jack the engine up to obtain clearance. You must do this for both the alternator/AC belt as well as with the secondary Supercharger belt.

sounds like the alternator is going bad to me. ive had a car before that it started going bad twice... got rid of that old hunk of junk and got me another one. but try replacing your alternator. is not that expensive, usually 60 bucks.

A battery does not CREATE electrical energy, it only stores it. The alternator in your vehicle produces electricity which is used or everything from the radio to charging the battery. If the alternator or regulator fail or if there is a bad electrical connection anywhere, the vehicle may not start next time you get in. If the alternator has failed to charge the battery, there may be nothing actually wrong with the battery except that it has no electrical energy left with which to start your vehicle next time. IF that is the case, all the battery needs is to be charged and it will be able to start your car next time. On the other hand, sometimes batteries get old and just like anything else that gets old they can fail. A 12 volt battery, typical of almost every vehicle on the road today, contains 6 individual cells each capable of producing 2 volts. When cells fail the voltage can be reduced, or the battery can fail completely. So if your car doesn't start it may be a failed battery or it may be a failed charging system or a bad connector. It really isn't possible to give a difinitive answer to your question without being able to test a couple components.
