Well , there is MILLIONS and MILLIONS of animals rescued from abuse . It is estimated that 500 or more animals are rescued from abuse a week.

Animals are not allowed to live in natural settings, they are sometimes over worked and not treated properly.

Animal hoarding is the act of collecting or taking in a large amount of animals. Often these animals are kept in subpar living conditions. This situation is usually related to individuals with mental disorders when the collecting of animals has become almost obsessive. Their intentions are often good and they do not realize they are harming the animals. Animal hoarding is mostly done by mentally disabled people. They don't know that what they are doing is wrong. Most of the animals are ungroomed, not neutered, and live in horrid conditions. The owners usually can't afford to have the animals neutered, so the animals breed continuously. Most of the time the animals get sick from no veterinary care and living in poor conditions. In B.C. where I am from, the situation of animal hording is getting worse all the time. Most of the time it's breeders who get in over their heads raising pure breds, and continue breeding the animals even when no buyers are immediately available. People, when they are lonely, they tend to use animals to make the lonliness go away. So they collect animals to feel comforted. So they keep animals and the collection gets bigger. Then the house is filled with animals, which is known as hoarding.

Animal behavior experiments are generally done in order to understand why they behave the way they do, and by extension to help us understand why humans behave the way they do.

Drug trials are done on animals first in order to see if the treatment is a) effective and b) safe. Each species has its own metabolic quirks, so a treatment that is safe and effective in animals MAY not be so in humans, but it's a way to identify treatments that are at least POTENTIALLY safe and effective for humans.

Finally, some testing is done for teaching/training purposes. A school may have students experiment on, say, rats even though the expected results are known, in order to train the students how to perform experiments in which the results are NOT known.

Illegal animal fighting is a blood-sport in which animals are specifically bred and trained to fight each other within an enclosed pit or ring, for the benefit of individuals who place bets on the animal they believe will win. The fights are extremely brutal, with animals often fighting to the death. In addition to the extremely violent nature of the animal cruelty involved, illegal animal fighting events almost always include other criminal activity, such as gambling, drugs, prostitution and illegal firearms. (Large amounts of money exchange hands during these gambling events, and where there is money, there are guns and other weapons present.) Additionally, it is quite common for children to be used during these events, often as runners for the betting process. This brings up the obvious issue of exposing children to illegal activities, and it also contributes to their de-sensitivity to violence as they are exposed to these brutal and bloody scenes of animals ripping each other to pieces for money. Quite often, during a dog or cockfighting bust, these young runners are overlooked during the questioning process - which is part of what makes them desirable to use from an illegalanimal fighter's standpoint. It is truly impossible to accurately predict, in the year 2013, what the world will be like in the 22nd century. We can're really be sure even of what the world will be like in the year 2014. At the present time, there is a real threat of war with both Iran and North Korea, and such conflicts would have huge consequences which would alter the course of human history, however, it is impossible to say if these possible wars will actually happen, or if they do happen, when they will happen and with exactly what consequences. We expect global warming to continue, but we can't really say how rapidly it will progress or what actions will eventually be taken to deal with it. New technology continues to be developed but we certainly cannot predict what the major technological advances will be in the next 87 years. These are only some of the important events that we can't really predict. I do feel confident, however, that the world in the 22nd century is going to be very different from the world in the year 2013. Big changes are coming.

One of the clearest examples of compassion is Mother Theresa. I disagree. it is a fact that when Hitler was a child he shot rats as a form of entertainment. on top of that he ate meat occasionally despite his claims of being a vegetarian. not only did he shoot rats but he also peed in a billy goat's mouth when he was a teenager. as a result it was thought that he got bit in the penis. you can find more information on that in the book "Explaining Hitler" by Ron Rosenbaum on page XXX in the introduction.

ANY organization can be considered a terrorist organization if they commit terrorist acts. PETA has been accused of just such acts at several facilities. A nice WEB site does not omit you from the law.
