Will the anime card Maiden in Love become a real archetype of cards?
Now no one can really say for sure if an anime card will be printed as a real one. The card has no Japanese print yet, nor has one been announced. Even if it, and Cupid's kiss did get printed, there's little scope for it to get an archetype based around it in an era where a lot of 'takes control of opponent's monster' cards are already banned or restricted.
Where did the Maltese cross come from?
The Maltese cross is known around the world as a symbol of the fire service. It is often seen painted on fire trucks, on the clothing of firefighters, depicted on firefighter's badges, and is quite often the chosen design of firefighter tattoos. So where did the Maltese cross come from, and how did it get to be known as a symbol of the fire service? The Maltese cross is named after the island of Malta, which came to be the home of the Knights of St. John. The Knights of St. John existed during the 11th and 12 centuries. The armor worn by the Knights covered their entire bodies as well as their faces. Because of this it was often difficult for the knights to recognize one another during battle. They realized they would need some type of symbol that could be used to quickly and easily identify them selves. They chose the Cross of Calvary, which would later be known as the Maltese cross. During the Crusades, the enemies of the nights commonly used fire as a weapon. It was quite common for a Knight to have to risk his own life to save another Knight or extinguish a fire. The Knights of St. John were also known for their care of the sick and injured. Combined with their abilities to fight fires, and the pride and honor they took in their work, the Maltese cross seems a fitting symbol of the modern fire service. Firefighting is a proud profession, and only a symbol of pride would exemplify the work of a firefighter.

Why is Charlotte Smith important to literary history?
Charlotte Smith (1749- 1806) was a literary dynamo who could rightfully be considered the Mother of English Romanticism. In fact, all of the men who are deemed the Fathers of Romanticism made pilgramages to meet her; learned from her, and in many cases borrowed from her works. Wordsworth made it a point to be presented to her; scholarly research is only now beginning to call attention to the echoes of Smith's sonnets in his verse. William Godwin and Mary Wollstonecraft were friends of Smith's, and Godwin sent at least one play to her to review. Smith even babysat for Mary Godwin (Shelley) on one occasion! Sir Walter Scott noted upon Smith's death in 1806 that the debt English literature owed to Charlotte Smith would never be properly acknowledged or remembered. Sadly, history has proved him correct these past 200 years. Charlotte Smith wrote poems, plays, novels, histories and translations--mored than 63 volumes of published works. In the decade from 1789-1799 was the most popular and best-selling author of the day! Her poetry ushered in the era of "sensibility", melancholy and the autobiographical in verse which later would be made so famous by Byron, Shelley and Keats. Her work in fiction produced novels which ran the gamut from the heroine-centered (an influence on the young Jane Austen who mentions her repeatedly in letters and in her novels), political, gothic, all the way to epistolary. Charles Dickens' scene in A Tale of Two Cities of a Parisian carriage which runs over a poor child without bothering to stop comes right out of Smith's Desmond. Smith was a passionate supporter of the French Revolution and was instrumental in calling attention to the plight of the French emigres or refugees of the war which arrived by the boatload after the Reign of Terror began. She cried out against arranged marriages, primogeniture and the laws which made women and children property. Her voice was one that was heeded as laws and customs changed in the 19th century. Smith, though long buried as one of the female "novel writing horde" of the late 18th century, is in reality one of its major figures and a true pioneer in many genres and styles.

What is the archetype of the golden calf in the Bible?
The golden calf was long associated with the moon god. The worship of the moon god, Sin, goes back to at least the third dynasty of Ur (c 2060 - 1950), where the god was honoured the the form of a golden calf with crescent-shaped horns and a long flowing beard of lapis lazuli. C. L. Woolley (Ur Excavations: The Royal Cemetery) found several of the images in his excavations of the royal graves at Ur, a Mesopotamian city which had legendary links with Israel from the time of Abraham. A Sumero-Akkadian hymn to that god says, "Ferocious bull, whose horn is thick, whose legs are perfected, who is bearded in lapsis, and filled with luxury and abundance." The moon god symbolised fertility, both by the moon's influence on the menstrual cycle and the fertility of the bull. The calf's crescent horns also represented the moon.
When the Books of Exodus and Kings talk of the Israelites worshipping a golden calf, they were references to the worship of the moon god.
