1. There is a screw on the left hind leg below the stomach.

2. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the cover. (The screw stays in the cover, so you won't unscrew it completely.)

3. Take out the old batteries and put in 2 fresh AA's.

4. Replace the cover and re-tighten the screws.

And there you have it, your iDog will be back to it's normal self.

No, as D cell battery does not have enough power to shock you.

D Cell batteries don't have enough VOLTAGE to shock you.

They have plenty of power (Power = Voltage*Current) to shock you, but first you'd have to use a circuit to increase their voltage to thousands of volts. This would decrease their current proportionally and keep the power level the same.

Car batteries for example have tremendous amounts of power, but it's in the form of massive amounts of current (number of electrons flowing), the Voltage (intensity of the electrons) is only 12 Volts, which is still safe.

No, they are a very real form of pollution that we could do something about. We throw away 3 billion batteries in the USA alone. Rather then whining about false issues like global warming, we should be addressing real issues like this one! Thank you for bringing this up!

It is made of a plastic case, in which there are 6 compartments, inside each there are several plates made of a frame covered with a lead-based paste. These sit in an acid bath, which works with the plates to make a chemical reaction which makes the battery volts.

Smaller batteries can be disposed of in the garbage. For larger batteries, or ones that state not to dispose of in garbage, can be disposed of at most garbage tips, which usually have a section to dispose of old batteries.

U disconnect the NEGATIVE battery cable & put a 12Volt test light IN BETWEEN the cable & battery post(connection) THen U start pulling fuses un- till the light goes off MAKE SURE U have ALL switches & doors shut because (doors-radio-etc) will turn on the test light.IF IT still doesn't go out after all the fuses have been pulled-THE problem is in a HARD WIRED CIRCUIT like the HEADLIGHTS etc.

How are you, My name is Matthew from Scottsdale, I too have a 2001 maxima and I love it. the service engine light came on a few weeks ago and I,m pretty sure it is the sensor. First off there are 3 of them. they look very easy to replace. If you pop the hood and look at the gap between the mainfold and the radiator you will see 3 wires one is blue, red, white. (if it is the same as my maxima) Each wire clips into this plastic holder (should be covered with electrical tape). The blue wire runs to the left into the mid part of the manifold about 8 inches from where it started. The other 2 (red and white) runs down the the bootm of the engine (yikes!!) But if you follow them down to the bottom of the car you will see that they are not really hard to get to. With a little bit of diligence and patients I think it is really possible. The one question I have is which sensor is the problem Blue White of Red? I work at Sears at night and I am going to ask if they can figure out which on it is and see if I can't replace it myself. No need to change a sensor if it isn't needed. But the question now is if it will still in fact shut off that Service engine soon light. Well lets take care of one problem at a time. I'm going to find out if they can't look at my car tomorrow. Until then safe driving fellow 2001 Maxima owner! Please if anyone has better suggestion please I'm all years.

first up there will be lots of sparks trying to connect cables.then you can damage all sorts of components in your electrical system,from the battery all the way to the computer, including burning out wireing harness, fuses, computer, starter, etc.you could also cause a fire in the car,

Buy a tool especially designed for this, at most parts stores. Before you start to clean your battery get some Arm and Hammer or equivalent baking soda, put a small amount into a cup, fill the cup with water mix well and pour over the top and sides of the battery. This neutralizes the acid. Then use a garden hose to rinse off the baking soda. Let your battery dry then clean the terminals with the brush you purchased at the parts store.

Keeping the fluid topped up with distilled water (acid must cover top of plates to a depth of 5mm or between Max/Min on marks if you have then,DO NOT FILL TO MAX OR OVERFILL,

long runs to ensure battery gets fully charged,if not in use remove battery and fully charge,test each cell with a hydrometer to check when all cells are fully charged,don't rely on a volt metre,if you get one cell that shows low charge or dead after 12 hours charge cell is dead,bin battery!

don't expose battery to extreme heat or cold for prolonged periods.When you buy a new battery FULLY charge it before use.

Dont use your car for short runs too often,that kills batteries.

Make sure your charging system is working well,check fan belt tension and condition regulary and check operation of charging sytem with a volt metre.

At rest should be about 13v-13.8v when running under full load (Wipers on,heater on,lights on,heated screens on etc) the battery voltage with engine running should not drop below 12v at 1500rpm off load with motor running @ 1500 rpm should be 13.8-14.4v any higher and the charging sytem is faulty and will boil battery dry,if too low,below 12.5V under charging test chargeing system and find fault.

These are rough figures and your checking to make sure it doesnt dive to 9v for example when loaded with the engine running,if so battery or alternator are not working propperly and are probably worn out.

The regulator on alternators only last about 10 years before they start to die,they can be replaced and come together with a brush set attached to them,so you shouldn't need to buy a new alternator unless the bearings are gone or a winding has failed.

That should just about cover how to keep your battery tip top,oh also keep the exterior clean and make sure terminals are always tight/clean (NOT TOO TIGHT),when done up coat terminals with either petroleum jelly (Vaseline) or copper grease (Copper ease) to protect them from corrosion/water.Make sure connections to battery are clean and undamaged,replace any that are corroded/damaged etc.

Doing these things will ensure you get the longest life possible from your battery 10-15 years.Best thing in the first place is to avoid buying the cheapest battery possible,spend that bit more for a quality named brand battery with a good warrany,i.e BIG,VARTA,DELTA,BOSCH etc

It depends. Are you the complainant, or the defendant? If you are the copmplainant - go to the court that issued the order and asked to have it dissolved. If you are the defendant - you must file a petition/motion showing good cause why the order should be dissolved. The judge will hold a hearing to determine the outcome. You can't really say how long as it depends what you are using the computer for, but whatever you are doing the second one will always last about twice as long.

Difficult. The manufacturers of car batteries have become extremely coy about the performance parameters of their products, probably because they don't want to be forced to meet them by a court.

However, I would suspect that it would be in the vicinity of 30-40 ampere hours. That means that it can deliver 30-40 amps for one hour, so at a voltage of 13.2 volts, that means 396 - 528 watt-hours, ignoring the fact that the voltage decreases as it discharges.

The "Cold cranking" current is a red herring...that is just the current it can supply for a short time, limited by the internal resistance of the battery.

Battery manufactures have gone to a Reserve Capacity rating which is more realistic than using the Amp-Hour rating. Reserve capacity is the number of minutes that a battery can maintain a useful voltage under a 25 ampere discharge at a temperature of 25 degrees C. To maintain a high RC number a battery requires higher quality cell materials. The RC rating of a BXT-65-650 is 130.

To convert RCR (Reserve Capacity Rating) to Ampere-Hours at the 25 amp rate, multiply RCR by .4167.
