Beavers

The beaver and the capybara are the world's largest rodents. But beavers are related more closely to squirrels. Will a 110 conibear hold a beaver?

I have seen an O size trap hold a beaver but with that said it would be very irresponcible and just plain stupid to set a 110 conibear for a beaver. It more than likely would pull out as they are not very strong traps. I would not use anything less than a 280 conibear for beaver. One thing to keep in mind is the antis want any morsel they can chew on so in an effort to protect your and our right to continue trapping you should be as knowledgable about your sport and animals as possible and act responcibily. A few states have lost the right to trap altogether because of a few bad apples and we are constantly under attack by people who have never even seen a trap let alone used one properly. Best of luck to you and may your traps be sprung and your stretchers be full.

Why Hudson bay company important for Canada?

The HBC made today's Canada. While Canada was just a province, a colony burning down parliament buildings, the HBC was a mature company making fun and profit in most of what is today's Canada.

So while Canada was still getting it's act together the Hudson's Bay Company was making money and keeping most of what would be Canada from the many other interests that wanted to move in and take over. This included the USA, the French and other British companies.

If it wasn't for the HBC Ruperts Land would have been much smaller and broken up into smaller pieces by other companies and Canada never would have been able to build a Confederation from sea to sea to sea.

And then there were the trade routes built, the towns that are today's Canada's cities, the infrastructure that would help build the railroad, the culture and the people that would become allies in Canada's colonization of Western Canada.

Without the HBC Canada would be little more than a few colonies holding out against a Manifest Destiny quick to consume such tasty targets.
