you must take a ratchet, not sure what size, and find the square hole toward the bottom of the tensioner. stick it in and twist till the tensioner moves and then slip off the belt, or better yet have someone help b/c you might need two hands.

You need to remove the cross bar between the struts at top back before removing the plugs. Be carefull not to damage the wiring or just replace all plug wires, if your are straped for cash just replace the middle wire as you will damage it without fail. Replace the cross bar after finninshing. Remember finninshing means to test run the motor for loose or missing componets. p/s it helps to have small arms and hands.
Answerive never had to remove the crossbar, but then again it may help. they are a pain, but not to difficult. justplan on replacing the wires. ive owned 3 lesabre's92-95-99 and all wires only last 60k. inthe back, the wireshave a metal shroudprotecting them from heat, they just snap onand off, but can be hard. Dont cut your self!!Have vehicle scanned to see if any codes are present

It should be located on the intake manifold by the distibutorless ignition module. On my 92 Lesabre it is located near the plugs at the back of the motor. On my 94 LeSabre it is located on the front/driver's side of the engine. There is a 4-wire connector on the top and it is mounted by two bolts on a flange. About 2" in diameter, 4" high.
Sounds like a locked up FAN CLUTCH if its a front noise OR a bad MUFFLER-can't tell by the description. *From the description I would be more inclined to believe the catalytic converter needs to be replaced.

How can you replace the dash speakers in your 98 Buick lesabre?
It’s a simple process.
You’ll need 1x med, 1x small flat tip, and 1x med sized Phillips along with an L shaped Phillips like the ones you use on doorknobs or a small ratchet with Phillips.
Standing outside the car look at each corner of the raised dash where the speakers are located.
You’ll see a small 2”x3” removable piece within the slotted grill with a slot to insert a small flat tipped screwdriver.
From inside the car it’s a little difficult to locate.
Insert the screwdriver and apply upward pressure.
I would recommend using a smaller flat tip to insert on the side while prying which should make it simple. These are held in place with plastic snaps.
If you have too much resistance taken your tip getting these off since they are plastic and age tends to make them brittle.
Once these are removed you’ll see a Phillips head screw which needs to be removed.
After removing both sides you can gently lift and pull on the raised dash.
It might take small wiggling motion but it will come out.
There is a sensor wire so be careful not to break the connection.
The speakers are now exposed and should be held in place with two Phillips head screws.
The one closest to the windscreen requires a bent tool or small ratchet wrench.
Remove them and you should be able to remove the speakers.
I think they are oval mounted on a square platform and measure 6 ¼” x 4 ½”.
Reassemble in the reverse order and be cautious when inserting the screws.
You don’t want one falling into the open dash!
While you have it off buy some small door weather-stripping and replace the current stuff, if it was like mine it fell apart.

That little black chip with the metal contact point in your key has to be in center of key and the contact points should be clean. If security light goes on and car doesn't start don't keep trying to start it, wait about 3 minutes for security light to turn off, and clean the contact points on the chip in the key and you should make sure it is not shifting to one side of the key.

The valve cover has to be unbolted from the head to be removed. Any hoses or brackets in the way needs to be removed, then lift the valve cover off. You may have to pry gently in several places to loosen the cover. The old gasket may have to be scraped to get any pieces off of the cover and head. Reverse the process to install the valve cover gasket on the 96 LeSabre.
