i am pretty sure you will have to tilt the engine ahead

or if your arms are smaller you can pull each wire (if your replacing those as well,cause usually they break from age)and use a 2-3 inch extension and a socket wrench and nustle them out,than for install thread them by hand slowly as to not crossthread them.been there done that never moved a 3800 yet.

This is a result of dust and other debris that has accumulated on the coils or in the heater. When you turn it on, it begins to burn off and that is what you smell.

Underneath the car, in front of the drivers rear tire you should see a small cylinder thing that hose to metal pipes going into it. This should be your fuel filter. Buy a new fuel filter and compare the 2, and if they match, you know you have found it.

Shut the car off, engage the parking brake and when you turn the car back on the lights will stay off until you release the parking brake.

I have a 1996 buick 3.8cylinder (pretty much same engine)

my car has 190,000 miles on it and still runs great!

but obviously if ou want it to last you need to change the oil and you can't beat the hell out of it (accelerate by getting it to 3500 rpms, etc.)

To get to the heater core, first remove all electrical connectors from heather housing under the hood. Next remove the chrome trim piece at the bottom of the windshield. Remove the two aluminum brackets mounted to the firewall used to hold the chrome trim piece with the speed nuts. Then remove the top screen portion of the heater housing, followed by all the bolts/screws for the top half of the housing. Using a large flat screwdriver or prybar, separate the upper half from the lower half of the housing, and from the firewall. Note, the wiper arm and bracket may need to be moved to gain access to certain screws/bolts, and for clearance when removing the upper half of the heater housing. The heator core will now be exposed. Remove the screw securing the ground clip and bracket holding the heater core down. remove the two heater lines attached to the heater core, and pull the heater core up and out of it's place. Before installing a new heater core, clean out any coolant and/or other debris from the heater housing. Installation is same as removal in reverse order, except the upper and lower halfs of the heater housing need to be sealed upon reassembly.

Fairly easy job, just takes a bit of patience.

If you are doing this for the first time, it will be quite fun.... The front three are easy, you can reach all of those without too much problem. On the back three, you can unhook both front motor mounts and pull the engine forward with a come-along or turnbuckle, or you can fight it with what little room you have. Grab the plug wire and wiggle it all around while pulling out. It helps to pull on the metal cover on the wires as well. They should pop off, but might put up a pretty good struggle. If you can't get them off with your hand, pliers work, just try not to tear the wires or the boots... My first time took me 2 hours, now I can do it in about 30 minutes, with minimal injuries!

There is a little screw on top of the thermostat cover located near the throttle body. Losen the screw and while filling and leave it lose until after you start the car. Make sure it is lose enough to let water flow out of the little hole in the side. After you start the car wait until there is a constant flow of coolent coming out of the hole then tighten gently. there are as many as three or more locations of fuse boxes on these cars your main fuse box in the car is either with the doors open on the drivers side or pass side at the end of the dash and there maybe 1 or 2 under the hood

No there is a lot of pressure in the hi pressure hose,you will need to replace hose.

For the V-6, it takes 5W30.

This may be due to 2 reasons.

One is the fact that the throttle body bore has a groove worn into it due to a worn throttle shaft bearing. This cannot be fixed as you will have to purchase and replace the throttle body.

The other could be a frayed or binding accelerator cable.
