How do you know when your capacitor is charged and ready for hook up?

The capacitor charges up when you initially install it and apply 12 volts to the circuit. Its purpose is to smooth out power drops in the 12 volt supply line to the amp. For instance, when the bass hits the speakers, the amperage surge can exceed the amperage the line delivers for a split second, so the capacitor supplies amperage briefly to sustain the power.

Hooking up a small motorcycle battery close to the amp serves the same purpose but is possibly messier because of the potential to leak acid.

Check under the rear bumper where the trailer light harness is wired in and check for any corroded, worn or disconnected wires. That is always the first place to look for rear light problems on these vehicles.

My air bag light blinks on and off on your 94 grand Marquis and im not a car person and you want to fix it your self can any one help?

i would'nt recommend doing it yourself them airbags can cause serious injury. But what happens with those is there is a little coiled wire in the airbag deploiment system that goes bad with the age of the car and needs to be serviced.Sometimes they become unwound from constant left and right turning of the steering wheel trust me it's not a diy type of fix i know beeen there done that it spells D-A-N-G-E-R have it servied by a dealer!

How do you fix the blinkers on 1987 LeSabre Is there a flasher?

The flasher is under the dash by the steering wheel column and there are two - one for four ways and one for turn signals. Also check and see if you have any burnt out bulbs as these will also cause them not to work. A burnt out bulb in the front will not let the rear signal work.

How do you hook up an amp?

first you have to buy a amp hookup kit. then the long red wire in the amp kit you take the end with the fuse on it and hook it up to the battery. then you have to drill a hole in your. firewall and run the wire to the amp in the trunk of your car. then you take the big black wire and ground it to anything metal on ur car. make sure it is tight. then you take the aux cable and hook them into the back of the stereo and run the to the left or right input on the amp. Make sure that the power wire and aux cable are on opposite sides of the vehicle for less distortion and interference.then you take speaker wire and hook it up to the rear output of the amp and run it to your speaker. then you take another speaker wire and run it from the front output and run it to your rear factory speakers on the high input level. and you should be jammin down the road then.

Does low alternator cause battery damage?

An alternator that is charging insufficiently won't necessarily damage a battery unless it is driven that way for a very long time. More often a failed voltage regulator ( internal in most modern alternators ) or a failed rectifier in the alternator will damage a battery.

To test your alternator you will need a volt meter. Start the vehicle and test the voltage across the battery terminals. Put the positive lead of your meter to the positive terminal on the battery. The rate of charge ( reading on your volt meter ) should be 13 to 14 volts; if it is lower your alternator is insufficiently charging. Have a friend step on the gas and hold the motor at about 2000 rpms. Repeat the test on the battery; if the voltage reads above 14 volts your voltage regulator has failed. Testing rectification from your alternator requires an osciliscope. However, normally if the rectification diodes fail your alternator quits charging and you will have determined this with your first test.
