Why does my 2003 Pontiac radio not shut off after door is opened?

I have a 1996 Aurora and it does the same thing. I think this is a "nicety" and stays on so you can gather your stuff and still listen to the radio until you open the door. Then it shuts off. Being a GM product as well, it wouldn't surprise me if it was the same thing going on. Functioning as designed.

How do I unlock the radio on a 2001 MB clk430 What are or what is the code Thank you?

Call a MB dealership and give them you vin # and they'll be able to look it up in the national database, or you would have to take out your whole radio and look in the back of the head unit

How do you improve auto am radio reception?

Refer http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7706 Quote from "Ziny": Here's an idea which I tried on my Creative Zen Microphoto to improve the radio reception.

This method should help any mp3 player which uses the headphone cable as an FM radio antenna.

1) Connect a 2 into 1 stereo jack into the player.

2) Connect a stereo extension cable into one of the two plugs. I use a 2 meter cable for this purpose. I leave the other end of this extension cable bare (unused).

Note: A shielded coaxial cable is NOT recommended.

3) Connect your headphones into the second stereo plug, leading directly from the player.

This method improves reception whilst not using any more power. I know that autoscan picks up more stations using this method so I know the antenna is more sensitive. Spurious interference noise is also reduced.

It seems paradoxical that the better the signal to noise ratio is, of the player, the more noticeable the extra noise is!

The microphoto makes an excellent radio and is fantastic when picking up a clean stereo signal. I think it actually shows which radio stations have the best quality transmitting equipment.

Of course there is room for improvement in sound quality reception, but I am happy with the improvement made so far.

Thanks PS. With respect to the 2 into 1 stereo connector (splitter), get one with gold or nickel type non-corroding fittings. Brass type fittings will oxidise and increase contact resistance at the connections, reducing antenna effectiveness over time. Thanks.

How do you reenter the radio code in your 1994 Saab?

To acquire the code you will have to contact a BMW dealership and provide them with your vin# and the numbers off the sticker on the back of your radio. To enter the code use the number buttons.

How do you bypass the e brake for the Jensen vm9312hd in dash DVD?

Its very simple to bypass the parking brake on Kenwoods. All the parking brake wire is is a ground wire. So, all you need to do is take the parking brake wire and either ground it or join it to the ground wire on the harness by soldering or whatever you wanna do.

How do I remove my radio from a Mitsubishi Montero Sport XLS 2000?

remove the nobs and bolts behind them, take off the face plate, then you should see the little screws holding the stario inplace. The #s are on the back .

if your gentle you can pull the cup holder slightly out and insert a small flat head screw driver inside to lift up the bottom plate of the cup holder assembly and the number is written on the front top of the radio.

I just removed the cup holder and used a small mirror (like the one a dentist uses, available at hobby stores) and a flash light to read them. You should see 2 sets, 1 begins with "MR" that's the part # and the other is the serial #. Just remember that after you write them down to reverse them.

What radio wire is what?

There are fourteen 18 guage wires. They are as follows:

Orange & Orage/White: Lights & Dimmer

Yellow: Battery

Red: Ignition Switch

Blue: Remote Wire for Stereo

Black: Ground Wire

2 Greens, 2 Purples, 2 Greys, 2 Whites: These are your speaker wires and should be labeled accordingly (Front/Rear-Left/Right).

There are two sets of RCA cables:

Yellow goes to your auxiliary, such as an iPod jack.

Grey goes to your amplifier.

Hope that helps!

You have 1 12 inch 4 ohm 400 watt rms sub and an amp that will push out 500 watts rms at 2ohms and 300 watts rms at 4 ohms will this amp be sufficent enough for the sub?

If your subs are 4ohms each, then yes it'll be easy. Hook them up in parallel and you're up and running at 800W! :) I would recommend that you purchase an amp capable of more than 800W x1 @ 2ohms though. My basic rule of thumb is that the amp should be approximately 30% more powerful than the speaker(s). This is to help ensure that you're not feeding the speakers distorted sound. Distortion is the enemy of voice coils(and usually the cause of premature speaker failure). So, 800 x 1.3 = 1040. I would recommend an amp capable of at least 1000W x1 @2ohms.

If you replace a 4 ohm speaker with an 8 ohm speaker can the amplifier blow the speaker?

A1: The output impedance of a power amplifier is always less than 0.1 ohms. There are no 4 ohm amplifiers on the market!

A2: I actually just bought a new car radio/CD player that specifically shows 4 ohm speakers on the sticker. It is designed to work optimally with 4 ohm speakers. If you use 8 ohm instead, it will work, but you will not get the full power output that is specified. The amp can only kick out so much voltage and so much amperage - if it is designed for 4 ohm speakers, and 200 watts (stereo, so 100 watts per speaker), it can supply 20 volts (P = V^2 / R). If you used 8 ohm speakers to this amplifier, each speaker would only get 50 watts powered at full output voltage.

Alternatively, if it is designed for 8 ohm speakers and 100 watts per speaker, it can provide 40 volts. If you used 4 ohm speakers instead, each speaker could be given 200 watts at 40 volts, resulting in severe overheating and damage to the amplifier.

How do you install a new stereo in a 1993 Mercury Topaz?

all you have to do to get out the old one is there is a hole on bolth sides of the stero and if you get a hanger it will normally work and you just have to pull it out i thought i was going to break some thing but it was all good

Can you wire 2 16 ohm speakers to 16 ohms?

No. Two 16 ohm speakers connected together are either 32 ohms, if wired in series, or 8 ohms, if wired in parallel.

You can, however, connect four 16 ohm speakers in series-parallel to get 16 ohms, with four times the power handling capacity of just one.

In an amp What is better high or low signal to noise ratio?

Signal to noise ratio is the difference between the noise floor and the reference level.

What does the 8 ohm speaker mean?

A speaker is a device that converts varying electrical signals into varying acoustic signals so that you can hear them as sounds.

An 8 ohm speaker is a speaker that has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. This means that is presents a load of 8 ohms to the amplifier over the range of frequencies that it is designed for. You should match the impedance of the speaker to the designed impedance of the amplifier. Failure to do so will result in inability to achieve rated power output, and it could lead to amplifier and/or speaker failure.

There are other factors involved as well, such as power capacity, shape, resonant frequency, and expected enclosure design. Speaker designers spend a lot of time and money on selecting a particular speaker, and you should not arbitrarily substitute one for another without adequate justification.

Can a 8 ohm speaker replace a 6 ohm speaker?

You need to find out how many ohm's your deck is pushing out and make sure you have the right grade speaker wire so you don't under power the speaker

Rubbish. A "deck" doesn't "push out" ohms.

An amplifier is designed to develop a stated power in a stated impedance, and that is based on the amplifier's ability to deliver current.

An amplifier designed to deliver maximum output to a 6 ohm load can safely drive an 8 ohm one. But it will not be able to develop its maximum power.

What is better 16 ohms speakers or 8 ohms speakers?

It depends on the application. If you have an amp that is stable in 8 ohms per channel, then 8 ohm speakers will work best. However, if you wanted multiple speakers on that channel you could use two 16 ohm speakers.

What are Pre-Amp outputs?

They are RCA type connectors on the back of your Head Unit (Radio). There are 2 connections, usually blue and white, the cord for this has the same connectors on both ends. The Pre-Amp outputs are a direct line for the Signal from your Head Unit to go directly to an Amplifier (you will see similar connections on your Amplifier as you see on the back of your Head Unit), so when you run speaker wire from your Amplifier, the speakers will play the sound (Music) your Head Unit is producing no matter if its from the CD or FM/AM tuner or AUX input like from an I-Pod.

Another Answer

A pre-amplifier, which is also known as a 'control unit', a high-fidelity unit which is separate from, but which must be used together with, a 'power amplifier'.

Pre-amplifier/power amplifier units are normally regarded as 'high end' equipment and tend to be very expensive. The pre-amplifier unit is equipped with inputs for phono, CD-player, tuner, and various other auxiliary units and (usually) provides a single pair (right- and left-channels) audio outputs for connection to the power amplifier. The pre-amplifier is the unit which provides the volume control, tone controls, filters, etc., while the power amplifier simply amplifies the output from the pre-amplifier unit. The output usually takes the form of a pair of RCA connectors, usually colour coded white and red.

Some 'home theatre' amplifiers provide a 'pre-amplifier' output, which bypasses its internal power amplifier, for the purpose of adding external power amplifiers, if desired.

How do you detect a car tracking device?

Purchase a GPS/GSM detector...they are cheap and easy to operate. The detector will send out a visual flashing lite or audible sound when the detector is near a tracking device. Look in the cars Wheel Wells (all)...Under Front Bumper...Inside Engine Compartment...Under Car...Back Bumper...etc.

The best way to find the hidden GPS device on your car is to follow the Battery Wires on your car to detect GPS signals. The GPS unit needs electrical power to operate.

What happens when you have a 4 ohm and a 2 ohm sub hooked up to an amplifier?

Yes, you can wire a 6 ohm sub with a 4 ohm sub to the same amplifier, but you need to verify that the amplifier can handle the resulting impedance of 2.4 ohms - many cannot, and could be destroyed. Also, realize that the power in the 4 ohm sub will be greater than the power in the 6 ohm sub.

What is the resistance of four 8 ohm speakers wired in a series?

Two 8 ohm speakers in parallel is 4 ohms, and the power will be split between them. However, unless the amplifier is rated for 4 ohm operation, you will not get the same total power out of the amplifer as you would with an 8 ohm load.

Uses of wire gauze?

it prevents the heat of the apparatus directly.

the circle thing on the wire gauze ensures that the heat is spread everywhere

Can you play 8 ohm speakers on a 16 ohm amp?

There is no 8 ohm solid state amp. Really! The output impedance of such an amp will be arround 0.4 ohms. Scroll down to related links and look at "Interconnection of two units- Voltage Bridging - Zout < Zin".

You can, as long as the amp's impedance is much lower to the speaker(s) total ohm load you're fine. We have never impedance matching there.

Can a 4 ohm receiver drive 3 ohm speakers?

If you connect four four-ohm speakers in parallel, the impedance will be equal to 1 ohm, and will allow the speakers to run at the advertised watt RMS. The equation is 1/(total impedance) = 1/(impedance 1) + 1/(impedance 2) and so on.

Parallel is like this:

Power source: +

Speaker+: + + + +

Speaker-: - - - -

Power source: -

However, usually if you hook up a 4 ohm speaker to a 1 ohm amplifier, it would still function it would simply not provide nearly as much wattage as it would have otherwise.

Also, if your speakers are dual voice coil (like many subwoofers) you could use 2 4 ohm speakers, connecting the two voice coils on each speaker in parallel and then connecting the speakers themselves in parallel.
