It is the airbag light. If the light stays solid, it means your airbag needs service. If it flashes, it's just self testing.

Go to the rear license plate - above it is a spot to open it with the key/trunk release handle (I just found this out, so haven't seen which we have) anyhow, once you get in the trunk, there is a cable on the the left (drivers side) that you pull which opens the driver side door which allows you to get in, open the hood and then boost the battery. Also, when you park the vehicle you need to park it in Reverse (if manual transmission) as this tells the computer to shut down. If you park it in 1st with the emergency brake on (obviously), the computer keeps running and does drain the battery. Also short trips kill the battery. Go for at least a 20 minute drive to keep the battery fully charged. Besides - who doesn't like driving their Vette! :-) Hope this helps someone!

On my 79 Corvette, the alarm system is activated when you lock the car with you key from outside the car. The alarm, if tripped, can only be disactivated by inserting your key in the lock mechanism and turned counter clock wise as if unlocking the door. NOTE, the alarm cannot be acivated by locking the door from the inside without use of your key. Don.

There should be a sticker/plaque on the driver side door with vehicle information including recommended tire inflation pressures for front and rear.

It is at the very top of the clutch pedal. you have to remove the lower cover, the one by your shins. then look all the way at the top of the pedal. It looks different than you are probly used to, it is round and it rotates as you push the pedal.

There are screws holding it on. Un-screw them.

The TPI (Tuned Port Injection) has 230hp.

the fuse box on a 1985 corvette is located on the side panel of the dash on the passenger side . Open the passanger (right side door) and box is on side of dash.

White smoke is usually caused by water in the ignition system(blown head gasket or water in the gas tank due to condensation. If it clears up after running for a while, you should try a gas conditioner in your fuel tank. If its constent, then do a compression test and to check your head gasket. White smoke is water; Blue smoke is oil; and black smoke is flooding or too much gas. ADDED NOTE: I have had an occurence where a brake fluid leak(at the master cylinder) allowed the vaccuum operated BRAKE BOOSTER to suck in fluid into the intake manifold, causing WHITE SMOKE..

find all the fuses near the brake pedal. for my car i have to take off one wing nut and then you just pull the plastic down. before doing this turn your 4ways on and try to follow the sound.

the thermostat is located on the housing were the top radiator hose ends on the engine you need to undo hose then two bolts and thermostat is under housing you will need a new gasket when repacing it

Removing the seats from the car and excellent lighting is a requirement! The foam seat backs are held in place by metal rods which are molded into the seat foam. The rods are secured to the seat back by a total of four clips per seat which are attached to the hard plastic seat back. If you crowd the seat foam inward, you will see the attachment points. Removal involves pushing each vertical rod inward until it becomes dislodged from each clip. Installation simply involves making sure the rods engage each respective clip. If you have small hands like mine, this is pretty easy. If not, have a buddy, wife or girlfriend help you as this really does make a difference.

It's in the owner's manual. You lift the rear hatch and remove the screw holding the lens. Then gently pull the plastic lens toward the rear of the car. The bulb can then be removed and a new one inserted.

Your 86 Corvette came from the factory with a small ratchet wrench with a star driver attached to it for top removal. If you can't find one in your car, they can be purchased on Ebay for about $30. Assuming that you have a wrench, you will note one hole just behind the sunvisor on each side. Completely lower both driver and passenger windows and open the rear hatch. The wrench can now be used; slide the star socket upward into the vertical holes until it engages into a hidden screw. Now turn the wrench counter clockwise until there is no resistance.

The third and fourth bolts are above the headrests in the rear edge of the removable top. These holes are horizontal. Insert the star driver into each hole and turn counterclockwise until there is no resistance. You should now be able to lift the top, (use two people if possible) and remove it from the vehicle.

Now turn the roof 180 degrees (front to back) and slide the roof panel into the holders under the open rear hatch. If all else fails review the owners manual. Lots of luck!

I have a 2000 coupe with auto trans. It has 94,000 miles on it. Recently, when I accelerated hard, the check engine light would come on. Code PO200. This happend twice. Then I developed an intermittant engine miss. I diagnosed it

as a bad coil pack. Replaced it , car ran fine. Last week, light came on again whenever I hit the throttle hard. Then it developed an intermittant miss again.

This miss came and went. When the engine starting missing,there was a strong gas odor from the exhaust.

I decided to replace the remaining coil packs. Cleared the code. Car runs like a bear when I hit the throttle and no check engine light code. I know this fix doesn't relate to an injector failure but the symptoms might be fooling the computer.
