The Prizm is a clone of the Toyota Corolla with minor styling and equipment differences; but despite its close kinship, the Prizm has never been as successful as its Japanese cousin. Since 1985 with the Chevy Nova and Corolla FX16, both cars have been built at New United Motors Manufacturing Inc. (NUMMI) in Fremont, CA. Toyota shares the plant with General Motors, however Toyota manages it. When Toyota switched to the new version of the Corolla, Chevrolet dropped the Prizm. Taking its place on the production line was the Pontiac Vibe, built off the new Corolla/Matrix platform. Exterior Available only as a four-door sedan, the front-drive Prizm is 174 inches long, about an inch shorter than the Honda Civic sedan and 7 inches shorter than the Chevrolet Cavalier. Interior The Prizm comes in base and more-expensive LSi price levels. Air conditioning is standard on both, but the LSi has several other standard features, including power windows and locks, cruise control, a rear window defogger, tachometer and tilt steering column. Both models seat five, but only the LSi comes with a 60/40 split folding rear seat. Chevy lists trunk capacity as 12.1 cubic feet without the rear seat folded. Under the Hood The Prizm used the same 125-horsepower 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine as the Corolla. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, and three- and four-speed automatic transmissions are optional. Side-impact airbags for the front seats and antilock brakes are optional. Driving Impressions Because it is a Corolla in disguise, the Prizm offers the same quality, reliability and smooth, refined performance. But because the Prizm wasn't as popular as the Corolla, new or used, it has a lower resale value.

Remove the positive cable from your 1999 Chevy battery. Remove the cables from the starter. Remove the starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new starter.

there is a fuse. it is located behind the storage box to the left of the steering wheel. it is the fuse for the lighter as well.

it is right under the motor. it will be black with a bolt sticking out on the botom of it.

According to my car mechanic this vehicle has coil overs, not plug wires.

In 2005 or 2006 I paid about 4200 to have mine done in Iowa. My Prizm has a Toyota core - so it's more expensive then the ones with a GM core.

I'm sure it could have been done for cheaper if I'd had one pulled from a junk yard & if I'd called around to find a shade tree type mechanic to do it. I had to have the car running in 3days for a business trip so I did what I thought would make it most reliable.

I'd highly advise to try to use a place that has a warranty in case the seal leaks afterward or anything gets overlooked in the swap... just my two cents.

I think finding the date of a machine will depend upon the serial number which is on the front of the machine.

Chevron/Texaco is is just about the best quality fuel. Shell is pretty good as well. Most the difference has to do with the additives put into the fuel. Stay away from places like, freddys, safeway, cosco, arco. The gas they offer is bottom of the barrel junk, or what ever is cheapest for the day. Think about how low their prices are... if they were purchasing the fuel at the same price as other companys selling it for 20c/gal more, then turn around and sell for that much lower ? They would go bankrupt in a hurry.

There's a reason they can sell it that cheap, there's a reason they are buying it that much cheaper in the first place. Get the better fuel, and the extra mileage you get from it will take you farther then the the extra fuel you would have gotta from the cheaper place.

Another thing to note, your not saving anything by the time you drive the extra 2 miles to the cheaper station anyway. Chances are you will burn more fuel then what the cheaper gas would have replaced.

It is on the driver's side on the frame just forward of the gas tank. It will require a special tool to release the quick disconnect.

There isn't a fuel shutoff switch on any car. There is a rev limiter to cut back on the fuel at a set rate of speed.jd

FYI, I had a mechanice replace the O2 sensor and the check engine light came back on again. I then changed the air filter and took out the Mass Air Flow sensor and cleaned it with electrical parts cleaner and put it back in. I also added a fuel injector cleaner to a full tank of gas. I reset the light by removing the negative cable to the battery for 30 seconds. This worked well enough for the car to pass a NYS inspection.

I had the same problem. A lot of WD 40 in the spring mechanism under the hood - especially where the cable is that is connected to the hood latch under the steering wheel works wonders. I did that and it seems to pop back the correct way -- although I have to repeat it several times. I had this fixed four different times at three different places. They often cleaned it, put DW40 on it, and even replaced the hood latch. The last place replaced the cable. This finally solved the problem.

catalyst system fault

Generally for a modern car like yours you can just pop into your local halfords or car store, tell them the make of your car and they will give you the correct bulb. You can also lift up the bonnet and open the headlights casing and find out wether you have a 3 plug bulb or a 2!!

the fuel pump relay is a small 4 pin relay located above another relay in the open relay box behind the hood open pull latch drivers side . you have to lay down with your head by the brake petal to see it

The 2005 Trailblazer has a 22 gallon tank.

if you hacksaw the rest of the bolt underneith off , you can take the headlight out and change your bulbs . and to fix the bolts go to dealer get 2 new bolts , then heat old ones up to remove and put new bolts in

A picture diagram of the drive belt routing is suppose to be on either the underside of the hood, close to the latch assemble or on the radiator support panel. also it as the same routing as a Toyota Corolla 1.6 liter 1987-1992.

Short in the wiring, or the circuit is overloaded.
