Is Titanic built wrong?

No - just operated incorrectly. Several TV programs discussing findings regarding this subject reveal two [that I can recall] problem areas in the design and conctruction of the Titanic. 1. The bulkheads, which were supposed to form individual watertight compartments, should have gone much higher, in the hull, than they did. The lower upper edges of the bulkheads, as the ship began to sink by the bow, allowed the seawater to enter the first, then second, third, and so on compartments, thus causing the the ship to sink. 2. Metalurgic analysis of the metal hull plates revealed that the steel "receipe" was extremely poor, in that it was rendered very weak and brittle, resulting in the ice berg cutting a long gash through several compartments. Had the steel been like ours of today, the hull plates would not have failed, and there would not have been any flooding of any compartments, thus no sinking.

What are the problems with computers and how do solve them?

AnswerThere are billions of problems that can happen with your computer. If something on your computer breaks call the maker of the computer: Dell, HP, Gateway, and so on: or reformat your hard drive. NOTE IF YOU DO THIS YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING AND WILL HAVE TO REINSTALL NOT ONLY WINDOWS BUT THE DRIVERS FOR ALL YOUR ACC, SUCH AS YOUR SOUND CARD AND VIDEO CARD. The best thing to do is make sure that you do not try to do it yourself if you dont know what your doing. You will only make it worse. Make sure someone who knows computers well works on it.

Can you reverse the polarity of AC and DC?

We have the capacity to reverse the polarity of a DC voltage, at least as regards what we apply it to. When we consider a DC motor, like, say, the ones in the little "robot wars" we see on TV, the motors can be run in reverse by reversing the polarity of the applied DC voltage. We normally consider AC as already reversing its polarity. It is, after all, AC, which is alternating current. The current alternates because the voltage alternates. We'll avoid any further discussion of the polarity of AC voltages here and leave it at that.

Answer

The problem, here, is that 'polarity' has several different meanings.

Polarity, in the sense of 'electric charge' cannot really be applied to a voltage (potential difference) although it can be to a potential (although the polarity is relative; it depends on the point of reference).

Polarity, in the sense of 'direction', can be applied to a voltage. For example, is the voltage acting clockwise or counter clockwise around a circuit?

Polarity, in the sense of 'connection', can be applied to a voltage. For example, it's important that the line conductor is connected to the centre terminal of an Edison lamp holder or to one or other of the slots in a receptacle (power socket).

Can you have a plan phone and use prepaid with it?

Yes. As long as you are out of your contract or willing to pay the cancellation fees - you can unlock your phone and bring to a prepaid network. Once you unlock your phone, you just need to purchase a SIM card.

I personally did this a few months ago, and switched to Straight Talk. I know there are other prepaid networks that can take unlocked phones as well.

Why do the Amish not use electricity?

The Amish have no problem with electricity, but they worry about what electricity can bring to their homes, such as radio, television, and other things that may connect them with the people they consider "outsiders." They want to be as little connected with "outsiders" as possible. However, some Amish bishops allow a few families to have electric lighting.

How to redirect emotions from the flight or fright part of the brain?

Hi,

Sounds like you are referring to the emotion of `fear`. I'm not so sure that you can redirect an emotion like that, but you can try to maintain your control and use your logical thinking to over ride the fear and overcome the emotion.

The common term for that is `courage` or `courage in the face of fear` as it's often described. This is when you submit your willpower over your emotions and continue on regardless of what you feel.

Everyone gets scared or frightened at times and for various reasons. Your personal resolve to subdue the fight or flight emotion will depend on you and the situation you find yourself in at the time. And most of the time, as F.D.R. one said, "We have nothing to fear, but fear itself".

See if you can determine the real underlying reason for the specific fear that you feel. Take it apart and analyze it. It may not be as bad as you believe it to be.

I wish you all the best of luck, and you can do it of you try.

AV cables definition?

"A/V cables" (or any variation thereon) means audio/video cables. These cables carry sound and picture within the home for almost all home-entertainment equipment, such as televisions, VCRs, and DVD players. They are even used directly or with a plug adapter by other devices such as video cameras or game machines.

Until recently, the nomenclature referred only to the set of three A/V cables with one for picture (video), and two for stereo sound (audio). These cables are of the shielded type, terminated with a male connector, called a phono plug or RCA plug, on each end. The carried signals are all analog; the video signal carried is called composite video. Cable manufacturers color-code the cables or the connectors as follows: yellow for video, red for right-channel sound, and black for left-channel sound. But with the arrival of newer means of and standards for carrying sound and picture over wires, "A/V cables" can refer to any combination of wire types carrying sound and picture. Some other standards and technologies are S-video, component video, digital audio, digital optical audio, DVI video, and HDMI audio/video.
