Why do cords have 3 prongs?

Two prongs are needed for any electrical connector. This is because electricity is like a drive belt, where each component passes the belt through itself. Or electricity is like water inside pipes, with all the pipes full, and no bubbles allowed. Each component has to have an "in" and an "out" pipe.

The third prong is there to prevent accidental electrocution and to prevent electrical fires. It's connected to one of the other two prongs. Wires inside the walls are run through steel pipes, and the third prong is connected connected to the steel. It's also connected to a metal stake driven into the earth.

The third prong helps disconnect a malfunctioning appliance. In some appliances the third prong is connected to the metal case of the appliance and to the iron parts inside the motors. Suppose the plastic coating on the other two wires becomes damaged. If the wires touch any other metal in the appliance, they'll blow the fuses or trip the circuit breakers. Or in other words, a damaged and hazardous appliance will switch itself off automatically.

Is itechextreme.com a legit site?

If you order an R4 from itechextreme, they will ship you an N5 with an R4 sticker over it. They now trade as www.ezbuyextreme.com in the UK. Buy from them only if you want to wait 4 weeks for them to turn up. £ 17.00 fee from customs and then the wrong thing sent. fantastic. DO NOT USE.. ------------------------------------------------

I did in fact order from them and I did get what I paid for however the service stinks and they take forever to deliver so for what it's worth look for your item elsewhere..

Why was the first apple computer invented?

Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak built the company Apple to produce computers using a very "Zen" philosophy. They thought computers should be easy to use, as well as pleasing to the eye both inside and out. Interior hardware layout has always been an art to Apple, and it has served them well throughout the years and allowed them to make super-compact models such as the Mac Mini and the Macbook Air. Financial gain was another goal of the business, of course.

How can you tell the difference between Black Onyx and Jet or even glass?

to tell the diffence, float both in a glass of water. The jet will float, the heavier, glass, will sink.

Also Jet is soft, easily carved but easily damaged.

How using two-input logic gates of your choice design a circuit to determine if two 3-bit numbers are the same or different?

Three 2-input XOR gates and one 3-input NOR gate will do the work. Connect each output of each XOR gate to one input of the 3-input NOR gate and apply the two 3-bit words to the inputs of the XOR gates. If X (X2X1X0) and Y(Y2Y1Y0) are two 3-bit words, X2 and Y2 will connect to one XOR gate, X1 and Y1 to the next XOR gate and X0 and Y0 to the last XOR gate. You could see the result of the operation on a LED connected to the output of the NOR gate. Other implementations are also possible of course.

The solution above is absolutely correct, but includes a 3 input gate. If the task is to use only two input gates, then a small change will be needed. Take the outputs from any two XOR gates into a 2 input OR gate. Then take the output of the OR gate and the output of the third XOR gate into a 2 input NOR gate. The operation remains identical to the first solution but adheres to the brief of using gates with 2 inputs. In the real world, there is probably no reason to impose such a limitation on a design so the first solution would normally be the preferred route to take.

Did the federalist support the policies of Washington and Hamilton?

How do you convert 50hz to 60hz?

Nowadays converting an electricity service from 50 Hz to 60 Hz can be done by using an expensive electronic invertor unit. Before such units became available you would have to install an even more expensive motor-alternator set which was very large, heavy and noisy.

Some small portable 50 Hz appliances - such as electric shavers, battery chargers for cell-phones, cameras, music and video players, laptop or netbook personal computers, etc. - have been designed to run safely on different supply voltages and frequencies. Whenever that is so, it should be clearly stated on the appliances' rating-plates. In many such cases, where the power needed is low, say less than 30 Watts, a cheap and simple "International Travel Socket Adapter" is all that is needed to make the appliance plug-in and work. Many international airports have shops selling such adapters.

If the power needed is higher (such as for an electric kettle, a fridge, a freezer, a washing machine or a dryer) instead of paying a lot of money for something to convert the available service frequency from 50 Hz to 60 Hz it is much more economic to buy - either new or secondhand - an appliance that has been designed to run on 60 Hz.

Comment

Electric kettles are unaffected by frequency of course, but US-marketed 60-Hz appliances, such as fridges, freezers, washing machines, etc., have been regularly used in places such as the UK (e.g. on US air bases, as well as privately) using a suitably-rated transformer. For example, I used a 230-V 50-Hz washing machine in Canada (60 Hz) for several years, and a large 120-V 60-Hz fridge in the UK for several years, without any damage to either appliance. So, while it would be more economical to buy a new appropriate voltage/frequency appliance in the country in which it is to be used, it also makes economic sense to make use of your existing appliances instead if you decide to ship them.

Would a 15 kva 380 volt generator be big enough to run a house with a 60 amp breaker 380 volts?

A 15 KVA - Generator operating at 380 Volts can cater to only 22.79 Amps. It cannot cater to a 60 Amps breaker

Why do I get bad AM radio interference when I connect my DVD player to my VCR with AV cables?

Because your DVD player power supply emits RFI ( or radio frequency interference) and when you add cables to it they become a braodcast antenna for the RFI. Whne you plug into the VCR you are creating a longer antenna via the house wiring. Some power supplies in units are just that noisy.

Why did Michael Faraday invent Dynamo?

I think that Michael Faraday invented the dynamo(electronic generator) because people needed electricity to see in the dark at night & use electronic Things.

One history programs told how electricity was discovered and devices built to produce it but no one knew what to do with it. So, it became a like a play thing for rich people at parties and such. Seriously. It is similar to the demonstrations that they give at High Schools to amaze the students.

Something that will not let electricity flow through it is an?

Note that "electricity" doesn't flow, only current, which is one aspect of electricity, does. Current is the flow of electrons.

Anything that doesn't allow current is an insulator
