Three cells have voltage of 15V 18V and 20 V What is the total voltage of the cells when they are connected in parallel?

Sources with different voltages should never be connected in parallel, you would have a difference of potential. Any time you have a difference of potential connected together you will have sparks, which could cause the batteries to explode.

Why is the standard range of ammeter is 4 to 20 ma than 0 to 20 ma?

4-20ma is a standard range used in process controls to indicate measured values. For instance, a pressure instrument may output 4ma to indicate 0 psi, up to 20 ma to indicate 100 psi, or full scale. Or, to control a variable-speed motor drive, 4 ma may mean to stop the motor, and 20 ma to run at full speed. The reason that 4ma is chosen instead of zero is for fail safe operation. A broken wire always results in 0 ma. Suppose our signal right now is 12 ma, and this causes a ventilation fan to run at 50% speed. Suddenly the signal drops to 0 ma. Now, if our range was 0-20 ma, does this change mean stop the fan? Or does it mean the signal wire just broke? There would be no way to tell. With a 4 ma low range, we would know that 0 ma was a broken wire. Then instead of stopping the fan, we could set it to some default speed, or simply continue at the previous speed until the wire was repaired.

Why isn't the advance Wars Series on the PSP?

Because it's just not made for the PSP. Actually, Advance Wars is the intellectual Property of Nintendo, not a third party which is why it is made for the Nintendo systems ie. game boy advance, Nintendo DS, DS lite DSi etc... only. Nintendo seldom if ever licenses thier games (IP's) to other platform developers. Intellectual properties or games are designed and sold to sell the hardware (the handheld gaming device) and in this case Nintendo is using thier own game Advance Wars to sell the system they themselves have created The GBA, DS Lite etc.. Nintendo doesn't want to sell more SONY Products, they want to sell more NINTENDO Products, which is why you will never see Advance Wars on the PSP (legally). There never have been talks between the two competitors, Sony and Nintendo to bring the series to the other platform, something almost unhead of in the gaming industry, I did say ALMOST unheard of. there have been a some IPs such as Sonic, usually appears under NIntendo, now appearing under Microsoft or PSP license but that's because Sonic is a third party and has no stake in on handheld doing better than the other.

Why ordinary silicon diodes do not emit light?

  1. Silicon is opaque to all light (IR through UV).
  2. The bandgap of silicon is not high enough to produce visible photons, only IR photons.

How do you convert rear surround sound speakers from a wired connection to a wireless configuration?

I was tryin to do the same research, just happened to hit on this question. Here are few things that would help you decide if you want a wired / wireless spkr - If you willing to compromise on quality, you could try Wireless. - Not worth the efforts to get it wireless, wireless technology has not yet evolved to a state that can give you Quality on wireless connection (esp if you are lookin to make a home theater system wireless, i think you are) - Wireless cannot transfer power to run your speaker, so only audio is sent thru wireless, the speakers are to be wired for power anywayz. (Battery power willnot last you too long) --- After reading reviews on the same, looks like you are better off with Wires than wireless.. Here is a solution, if you really wanna go wireless (never tried, so dunno about the outcome, the site claims that it works) Check their products received and transmitter, should work for you! http://www.soundolier.com/products/maestroSWR.aspx

If you have a 2gb micro sd card that doesnt hold many songs how do you fix it?

Ideally, with an average MP3 file size of 4MB per song (128 Bit Encoding), a 2GB card should be able to hold close to 500 songs.

It could be that the song files have been encoded for high quality sound production (320 Bit), which results in the file size being more. Or is it that they are in WAV format?

WAV format are a copy of the audio CD format. They usually are very heavy in size with the average size running uwards of 100mb per song, thereby taking up more space and as a result, you would not be able to store many songs onto the 2gb card.

Solution: Use a MP3 converter to convert the song files into Mp3 with the 128 bit encoding. this bitrate is perfect for listening to music and the sound quality is also very similar to what you would get on an audio CD.

What economical device - varistor - transistor etc can you use to supply power to a relay until the voltage drops to 10.5 volts?

A zener diode, a transistor, a rectifier diode, and a few resistors. A 10.5V zener diode will conduct until the voltage across it drops to below 10.5. If the relay is small enough, a zener diode is all you need. However, more than likely the current draw of the coil would burn the zener out. Use the zener to drive a transistor, and use the transistor to trigger the relay. V+ | |_______________________ | | _|_| _____|___ |/ \ 10.5V | | /___\ | 3 Relay | __|__ 3 Coil | / \ 3 0---------- /___\ 3 | | | 3 \ \ 4.7K | | / 2.2K / |____ ___| \ \ | / / | | | B | / C | |________|/ | |\ 2N2222 | | \ | | E |______________________| | _|_ \\\ When the voltage is above 10.5V the zener will conduct ant turn on the transistor. The transistor will power the relay. When the voltage drops below 10.5V the zener will stop conducting, shutting off the relay. The rectifier diode absorbs transients caused by the field breakdown in the coil, protecting the transistor. Just a plain resistor will do it or you may follows suggestion and use a computer to do that. The last time i used those ancient devices i find out they operate as a current device like minimum pull in current source. So a passive resistor in series will insure the minimum pull in source however it could be higher then the 10.5 v you need. The above designi just plain silly.

What ssb radio frequencies can you listen to nfl football games?

I'm not sure, but I remember reading that AFRTS (Armed Forces Radio & Television Service, broadcast by US military transmitters for troops abroad) broadcasts, among other things, sporting events. They broadcast 24 hours daily, in English, from transmitters around the world. The frequencies I'm listing are from a 2006 guidebook, but I don't think they've changed, as I listened to one just the other day.

4319 kHz (transmitter located in Diego Garcia)

5446.5 (Key West)

5765 (Guam)

6350 (Pearl Harbor)

7590 (Iceland)

7811 (Key West)

9980 (Iceland)

10320 (Pearl Harbor)

12133.5 (Key West)

12579 (Diego Garcia)

13362 (Guam)

I believe that's all of the stations, but I could've missed some. Do a google search for AFRTS for more info.

I also believe VOA (Voice of America), while not broadcasting the events themselves, broadcasts results and related sports news. As VOA transmits exstensively on many different frequencies and times, I cannot provide a list. (Also, VOA stopped broadcasting to North America a while ago, but their broadcast to west Africa is still widely heard towards the east coast--I'm able to hear it loud and clear in Atlanta).

Resulsts will wary from location to location and among different radios, of course. In my experience, in the Southeast US, I've found the most audible AFRTS stations to be 12133.5 (VERY loud and clear) and 7811.

Good luck!

What is a parallel circuit?

A parallel circuit is one which the current passes through the electrical devices in separate paths.

For example, consider 2 resistors (loads):

  • If the current must pass through one resistor to get to the other one, then it is a series circuit.
  • If the current path splits so that the current can pass through each resistor independently, then it is a parallel circuit.

A practical example

In a house each lamp and its light switch are wired in series with each other but all the separate circuits feeding the lights in a house are wired in parallel with each other because any one light can be either on or off independently of the others.

if one light burns out the others wll still light
A parallel circuit is one in which two or more circuit elements are connected in parallel, for example, two light switches wired so that either switch will turn on the light, or two bulbs wired together so that one swirch turns them both on. More info: http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_1/chpt_5/1.html
What are "series" and "parallel" circuits?
a parallel circut is when their are items parallel to eachother. like for example making a simple electrical circut.

a parallel circuit is when electricity flows through more than one pathway

Why does a laser pointer need a battery?

it needs batteries to power the diode. just like your house needs big powerplant batteries to turn on ur lights. :P
