Can I answer my own question? - it was the distributer - probably the cam sensor but a scrapyard replacement cured the fault

Yes it is. Every vehicle is designed to tow at least 1 times its own weight.

All Daewoo Engines are interference fit Engines. Which means that if the timing belt rips while the engine is running the pistons will hit and bend the valves and you will have to get new valves and possibly a new cylinder head. Worst case scenario you will also have to get a new engine block if for some reason chunks or pieces of valve, piston or cylinder head damaged the cylinder bore and cracked the block while things were moving around. Daewoo Timing belts are recommended to be replaced at 60,000 miles but it is best to replace them before 60k as some people have had their timing belts break on them as soon as 61,000 miles.

you can use ngk or Bosch it will perform very good, but please don't change the spark plugs when the engine is still hot because it will smoke

Near side front wing, loosen wing liner plastic, the washer bottle is there, has 2 motors. A 10mm spanner can be used to remove the 3 retaining bolts. The 2 tubes and 2 wiring plugs are pull off. The whole bottle complete with motors can be removed.

The 2 motors are held in by rubber washers and just pull out. Both motors have a filter inside the intakes, these are prone to blockage, they can be removed and cleaned. A common problem with Daewoo.

I have taken apart the rear of my lanos hatch, and the speakers are 100mm x 150mm oval type that are 60mm deep. Still trying to work out how this translates to "speaker talk" ie. how many inches these are...

Check fuel in tank, check if you can hear fuel pump prime when you put ignition on, before you crank (position 2 not 3 on ignition) you should hear a 2 second hum, if you don't get this, check fuses and relays. you can swap relays of same colour and number to check them, failing this try banging the bottom of the tank whilst someone else cranks the engine, if banging tank starts car you need a new pump.

Behind the cam drive pulleys The electrical connector is located under the top engine cover forward of #1 sparkplug. To reach the Cam Sensor it is necessary to remove the upper cam belt cover. This may require removing the “Alternator Drive Pulley” in order to get enough room to get the cover out of the way. The Cam Position sensor is behind the cam drive pulleys directly below the electrical connector.

Either us an OBD2 (most auto parts stores have them) or remove the negative battery cable for a few min's.

You will need to re-enter the code for your radio though

The fact that its going up hill, kind of explains it.

You should replace the head gasket. This repair is critical to the better performance of the vehicle, and to prevent future damage of the engine.

When the Power button is pressed, the gear shifts at higher revs, so you can get better acceleration when outrunning other vehicle, or when driving uphills. In everyday driving, turn it of, because the car is going to be noisier and just wasting more fuel for no reason.

the tire pressure for most Grand Marquis models is 31 psi front, 35 psi rear.

a local salvage yard, is usually the cheapest, but if you want new parts, then go to an advanced auto or napa, they are usually the cheapest

Tightening procedure: 1st stage: 22lbft 2nd stage: 43lbft 3rd stage: 65lbft 4th stage: loosen by 90degrees and retorque to 65lbft 5th stage: start and run the motor until fully warmed up and thermostat has opened, wait until totally cold 4 hrs later 6th stage: loosen by 90degrees and retorque to 65lbft
