What is the gear ratio on a 1999 F-150?
There are four ways to find a ratio.
1 A dealer can normally tell from the vin number.
2 There are normally tags or labels on the axle that have part number, gear ratio, and fluid requirement
info.
3 You can count how many times you have to turn the driveshaft to get one complete turn of the tires.
4 You can divide the number of teeth on the ring gear and divide by number of teeth on the pinion.
Why wont 2000 blazer come out of 4wd?
This is a problem I have and am still dealing with on my 2000 ZR2 blazer. First the cheapest is to check the vacuum line runs to acuator under the battery tray. Next it could be your buttons not working(I doubt it but has happend). Then its getting expensive could be silonoid or shifter on the transfer case. The n if not that the most expensive and notorious with our blazer is the ECM = Electronic Control Module which is the computer for the transfer case (dealership only part $475). Hope I helped!
2006 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 axle ratio?

From Wikipedia: The following description of a differential applies to a "traditional" rear- or front-wheel-drive car or truck: Power is supplied from the engine, via the transmission or gearbox, to a drive shaft (British term: propeller shaft, more commonly abbreviated to "prop-shaft"), which runs to the differential. A spiral bevel pinion gear at the end of the propeller shaft is encased within the differential itself, and it meshes with the large spiral bevel ring gear (British term: crown wheel). (The ring and pinion may mesh in hypoid orientation, not shown.) The ring gear is attached to a carrier, which holds what is sometimes called a spider, a cluster of four bevel gears in a rectangle, so each bevel gear meshes with two neighbors and rotates counter to the the third, that it faces and does not mesh with. Two of these spider gears are aligned on the same axis as the ring gear and drive the half shafts connected to the vehicle's driven wheels. These are called the side gears. The other two spider gears are aligned on a perpendicular axis which changes orientation with the ring gear's rotation. These two gears are just called pinion gears, not to be confused with the main pinion gear. (Other spider designs employ different numbers of pinion gears depending on durability requirements.) As the carrier rotates, the changing axis orientation of the pinion gears imparts the motion of the ring gear to the motion of the side gears by pushing on them rather than turning against them (that is, the same teeth stay in contact), but because the spider gears are not restricted from turning against each other, within that motion the side gears can counter-rotate relative to the ring gear and to each other under the same force. Thus, for example, if the car is making a turn to the right, the main ring gear may make 10 full rotations. During that time, the left wheel will make more rotations because it has further to travel, and the right wheel will make fewer rotations as it has less distance to travel. The side gears will rotate in opposite directions relative to the ring gear by, say, 2 full turns each (4 full turns relative to each other), resulting in the left wheel making 12 rotations, and the right wheel making 8 rotations. The rotation of the ring gear is always the average of the rotations of the side gears. This is why if the wheels are lifted off the ground with the engine off, and the drive shaft is held (preventing the ring gear from turning inside the differential), manually rotating one wheel causes the other to rotate in the opposite direction by the same amount. When the vehicle is traveling in a straight line, there will be no differential movement of the planetary system of gears other than the minute movements necessary to compensate for slight differences in wheel diameter, undulations in the road (which make for a longer or shorter wheel path), etc.

How do you change a front axel you-joint on a 1975 dodge 4x4?
I suggest you buy a manuel. It has procedures on a variety of removing and replacing parts. It is possible to borrow one or photo copy from a dealership or even a library. I have bought manuels in the past on certain vehicles, and that can save alot of headaches. If something else causes trouble, you have the manuel to see what you are in for. Some manuels are $15.00 and well worth it.

Unless there is a red light, the front wheels are likely engaged but do not achieve traction unless there is slippage occurring. In other worrds all is likely fine and when you need it -it's there!
Subaru has had problems with the tranny overheating for years. According to a transmission specialist, he said not maintaining the transmission will lead to overheating problems. Change your transmission fluid and differential fluid as per your owners manual, or even more often than it states. He also recommended adding an ounce of a special transmission lubricant (which I can't recall what it is called, but comes in a 4 ounce bottle from Ford) to the transmission fluid to help with the lubrication. Ask a transmission specialist for the name of the fluid, or check on this website for a possible question and answer that addresses it.

Should be able to take lockouts apart, take brake rotor off, and pull axle out of the housing assembly that way. I don't think you need to touch the kingpins, and believe me, you don't want to if you don't need to !!

How do you change differential fluid GMC Jimmy?
The differential fluid on a GMC Jimmy is changed by removing the drain plug, draining the fluid, and re-installing the drain plug. The filler plug can then be taken out, fluid added until it reaches the bottom of the filler hole, and the plug re-installed.
What does it mean when the light in the dashboard is orange?
What light? Orange means caution or attention: That information is available in your vehicle owners manual.
Usually if a check engine light (it's labeled differently from different manufacturers) is on it means that the computer has detected a "fault" and has stored a diagnostic code. You can borrow, rent or buy a code scanner at most auto parts retailers and many of the better stores will even help you connect the scanner and figure out what the codes mean.
