Some engines available in your car don't have a timing belt. If yours does, get a manual from DISCOUNTAUTOREPAIRMANUALS.COM.

The cable is usually adjusted under the car. If the E-Brake is not holding and needs adjusting, this is a sign that the rear brakes need replacing.

ON the coolant resevoir, look for the hose that runs to a tubular metal connection, it is a smaller hose at the top, make sure coolant flows out when the car is started, willing to bet it is blocked from the point where it connects to the heater core unit. I had the same problem. car works fine now

I'm assuming you mean a 2.7L V6 because Chrysler doesn't put the 3.7L in that car. You've also got to be careful because a leak down there can be misleading. The weep hole for the water pump is right below the thermostat housing, and many times people mistake a leaking water pump for a leaking thermostat. If the leak your referring to is on the top of the engine in the front, that is actually what is called the water outlet housing. The thermostat is on the bottom left side of the engine. Many people believe the thermostat is on the top of the engine under the water outlet housing, which is not the case. But if your leak in question is on the top of the engine at that housing, you'd have to replace that housing...which may or may not come with the tube that runs under the intake manifold that goes to your heater hose. Hope this helps.

Try checking your fuses under the hood and inside first, Before you get into major. A lot of newer cars runs that by computer not by a manual cable.

If the check engine light is also on, start with having the codes read. That should give you a starting point.

The transmission in an Intrepid does not have any bands in it.

P0340 says there's a problem with the camshaft position sensor, and P0344 elaborates saying that the signal from it is intermittent (ie, sometimes ok but sometimes not). This can be caused by bad wiring between the computer and the sensor, a bad sensor, a bad flywheel which the sensor reads notches from, or the computer module itself may be going bad. In my research on the P0340 code which my car is getting, web pages say that some engines can in fact run without the sensor, but since it's used to help time the fuel injection and ignition, it will reduce your gas mileage (town mileage affected more than highway). If you notice the engine losing power or stalling out, it might be worth trying to disconnect the sensor and see if it improves driveability. I wouldn't recommend running it like that forever, but if fixing it right away isn't an option, it may be worth considering.

The half moon cut out on the crank sprocket aligns with the arrow on the oil pump housing. If you don't have service manual with a sufficent picture you need to go get one. This timing chain is very complicated.

I can't imagine trying to change the timing belt without removing the PS/AC bracket. I would recommend removing the A/C compressor (DON'T DISCONNECT *ANY* HOSES) and disconnecting the PS as well. Taking the pumps off makes it easier to get the bracket out of the way and makes it much easier to get the belt on the aux (oil pump) pully.

NOTE that getting the PS pully off requires a special wheel puller (cheep) and a nuts and bolts rig to press it back on the pump.

To remove the bottom part of the rear seat, lift up on the front of the seat and it will pop out of the latches. To remove the upper part of the back seat you have to remove the 15mm bolts and nuts securing the bottom brackets of the seat. There are two bolts, one on each side of the back bottom. and two nuts securing the seat belts and brackets holding the seat back. The next part is how I found it to be the easiest to get the top loose. lay down in the trunk on your back, grab the bottom of the seat back and while lifting use your elbows to push the top of the seat into the passenger compartment slightly. The top hooks will release and the seat will fall into the passenger compartment. An assistant really helps at this point.

Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. The thermostat will be located near where it connects to the engine.

mine does it too, i attribute it to the fact that the vibrations of the engine just shake the whole car, seeing how the steering wheel isn't attached by much, it'll shake, kinda like the way your rear view mirror will shake with alot of bass, vIbRaTiOnS

The car has positive and negative jump start posts under the hood. The positive one is a large bolt surrounded by bright red plastic. The negative one has black plastic. Use these locations to jumpstart the car instead of batter posts and jumpstart as with a typical car.

if the problem is that the battery is located in the wheel well (which it is on intrepids) then just attach one end of cable to any ground (bolts for the shock are a great, safe option) and other end to the battery positive terminal on top of your engine

if this doesn't make sense then search how to jump any car and how the DC electrical system works, it's same concept, just not putting cables on battery

I have a 340 code replaced the crank sensor 3 times replaced the cam position sensor still did not fix it the Dakota runs fine but when it gets warm it will not start until it cools off.

On all Dodge, Chrysler and Plymouth trucks and cars you will need to get a repair manual because you will need to pull the dash and discharge the a/c system..........

most off ppl and in the book saying under the car ..but you can remove it from the top to with the hoist ,but before doing from the top you have to remove the head off and evrething around it ,living the engine block and oil pan if you want ..it was easier for me this way ...form the top you dont have remove the radiator at all or any parts from the front ...good luck

Normally all you need to do is fill the fluid, start the car and turn wheel back and forth, check the fluid level, and repeat as needed until the fluid stays full.

It can be hard to learn the location of all the parts in a vehicle. The map sensor of a 1998 Intrepid is located on the back on the intake manifold, near the transmission dipstick.

One of the air bag sensors is bad. Two are located under the headlights above the front bumper. The third is under the driver's seat. There is an initial check of the airbags upon starting the car. If the airbag system detects a fault it will disable the airbags. So if you are in a crash the airbags will not deploy. Read up on airbags before doing anything, they can deploy while you work on them.

The pump is accessible through an access hole in the trunk. Remove the trunk carpet, remove four nuts that hold access plate, remove fuel lines, electrical plug, and large hose clamp that holds pump to tank. Pump will now pull out.
