From inside the trunk you remove the three or four finger nuts to remove the entire taillight assembly. Once you get it removed you'll see the light plugs on the backside.

The leak detection pump switch on your Dodge Intrepid is located beneath the battery. If you can not locate this on your own, it may be best to have a licensed mechanic take a look at it.

You have to purchase a special socket that has a slot in it to remove the o2 sensors. There are four of them two up stream and two down stream. the up stream ones are under the hood as soon as the exhaust comes out of engine. Just unplug and use slotted socket to remove and replace sensors. the down stream ones are under the car before the Y section of the exhaust pipe ends you remove and replace same as the up stream ones. You can purchase the slotted socket at any auto parts store same as the sensors. The sensors are about $65.00 each socket about $8.00 dollars.

There is 2 things that it could be 1 is your are really low on transmission fluid ..if you cannot find the leak check your anti freeze filling tube.. if there is transmission fluid in there then the break is simply a broken cooling line that runs through your rad.. you will need to flush out both once its repaired.. if its broke inside the rad the rad needs to be replaced,and 2 the transmission is gone.. the manul for these cars states that if there is a major tranny issue it will default into second gear..if there are no leaks 9 times outa 10 tranny is gone.. intrepids are famous for blown trannys The computer defaults to 2nd gear when it detects a malfunction and sets a code. You need to have the system checked for codes.

If you are facing the vehicle, the petcock is located on the left side bottom of the radiator. It is not easy as it should be to get the petcock to turn. I had to get to it from the passenger side fender. There are sharp metal pieces above the assembly so be careful not to scrape your arm.

It could the the oil pressure sending unit. They frequently go bad on these cars. Replace it with one from the dealer. Dont replace with a cheap one from a parts store because there not of good quality. You may end up spending more but its will last much longer in your car

I had same issue/ had the sending unit replaced BUT days later came on again, contacred my brother in law who is mechanic in Ohio and stated to take it back to mechanic and have him also change the terminal vent wire havent had issue since, to be honest my mechanic did it for free cause he stated he should have changed that CAUSE WHEN THEY GO BAD THE LITTLE SEALING DARTS GET LOADED WITH OIL AND CLOGS. JUST TELL UR MECHANIC TO REPLACE THE TERMINAL VENT WIRE AND UR ISSUE WILL BE RESOLVED.. BELOW IAM SENDING U REPAIR PROCEDURE AND PART NUMBER

This bulletin involves adding a terminal/wire/vent to the oil pressure switch connector

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

With a hot engine the oil pressure light may be on or flicker on at idle.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

Raise vehicle on a suitable hoist.

Remove engine oil pressure switch connector from switch.

Remove sealing dart from the empty cavity at the rear of the connector.

Pull terminal locking ring outward from front (switch) side of connector to gain access to terminal locking tabs.

Install wire terminal/vent, PART NUMBER: 05017800AA, in place of the removed sealing dart. Slide locking ring back into place.

Attach the connector back on the oil pressure switch.

Spot tape the wire/vent to follow the harness towards the top of the engine compartment.

It is located on the top of the engine, front, center - - looks like a grease fitting in a black plastic housing where the thermostat might normally sit. The upper radiator hose connects to it.

There's a ticking noise under my 2002 tahoe. If it is a lifter. Can you tell me what a lifter is? And is that the reason why my service engine light won't go off. Someone told me that it had to do with some box that holds wires under the truck. Is that true?

The guy actually came out and showed me the steps, and even printed a sheet with instructions out. I would go to Auto Zone - the one near me was excellent.

On a 1996 Dodge Intrepid, the flasher button is located near the center back of the steering wheel, you should see the button on the top of the steering column. The flasher itself is mounted to the multi purpose fuse panel.

The Dodge Intrepid does not have rear struts. This automobile has rear shocks and springs. The shocks can be removed by removing the retaining bolts on the top and bottom of the shock. Reverse the process to install the new shocks.

It doesn't have a speedometer cable. The speed is calculated by the transmission computer using it's output speed sensor.

Group 34. You access it from the front right wheel well, I believe.
