The Starter for Dodge Stealth R/T's are located on the Front Right hand side of the car, it is actually attached to the front bottom of the Transmission next to the exhaust pipe and the front motor mount. It should have a Red rubber cover over the terminal as if it was a Battery. GSM

try a fuel relay

i had this same problem on my 1991 dodge stealth the problem is with the iacv ( isle air control valve) this is located on the throttle body. simpley remove the 4 bolts holding the throttle body canclean it there should be a very smalll hole inside the throtle body. if this gets anything over it the car wont idle. that's the right way to fix the problem. if you don't want to take the time to do it right, then you can pay the extra money on the gas you will have to get to do it the second way. ( scond way {temp fix} ) located on the back of the throttle body you will find a switch connected to a wire that is connected to the gas peddle. there should be a bolt under the switch tightening this bolt will increase your idle rpms. increase it to 1,500 rpms that will get you by for a while but you will have to keep adjusting it. ( the correct way takes about 30 mins i HIGHLEY suggest that you take the time to do it right )good luck

could also be several other sensors, mafs mass air flow sensor is also quite common

Where is the ignition module located on a 1993 Dodge Stealth?

Ignition control module is located directly under the coil pack. (where the plug wires run into). It's a small black box, only about 3" X 3", and has two plugs going into it. It's held on by two Phillips head screws, which I use a 90 degree Phillips driver to get to one, and a long screwdriver for the other. You can also take off the bracket it sits on.

Fuel pump relay located in the inside of the passenger front wheel well goes bad and causes too much amps to flow to the ECU causing it to blow. Do a bypass on the relay and replace ECU.

1.) locate the tan/brown plug between passenger strut tower & firewall (near where all the engine wiring comes through the wall)

2.) take the cap off, jump a wire from that terminal to the frame of the car. This puts the ECU into a fixed mode, so it will not automatically adjust ignition timing.

3.) hook up a timing light to #1 plug wire (can do loan a tool from autozone/advance auto)

4.) start car and point light down to crankshaft harmonic balancer (pulley).

5.) You will see the notch on the pulley, make sure it is at 5 degrees BTDC, + or - 2.

6.) If not, rotate the sensor until it is, then lock it down. Turn off the car, remove the jumped wire, then restart the car. The timing should now automatically adjust to about 15 degrees.

7.) If the car doesn't start, you may need to rotate the CAS arm 180 degrees, then re-install.

The fuel pump relay itself is located just in front of the passengers side strut tower, under the hood. It has a 5 wire connector.

The fuel pump control relay which feeds that, is bolted to the console, near the radio, under the passengers side console panel. It has a 10 wire connector with post one being unused.

The fuel pump relay is behind the passenger side knee trim, on the side of the console. It is about radio height. -91 Dodge Stealth R/T-

It notifies you which suspension mode it is in. One will give you a smoother ride (touring). while the other mode is used for a harder ride (stiffer suspension). This one allows better cornering usually for racing.

as far as i know the sport touring switch is different than above posted. touring mode runs the drivers side exhaust pipe all the time, but in sport mode when the engine reaches 3500 rpm the valve opens to the second exhaust pipe creating more compression on the engine and creating a more powerful acceleration

1. remove under-cover on LH side 2. remove cruise control actuator 3. raise vehicle and suspend engine to relieve force on mount 3a. remove front left wheel and wheel well lining (to access belts) 4. pull off drive belts, tension pulley assy, tension pulley bracket 5. pull engine mounting bracket, P/S pump pressure switch connector, P/S pump (suspend, such as wiring it to the hood) 6. pull engine support bracket, crank pulley (special tool), timing belt covers 7. pull front flange, adjust timing belt tension, remove timing belt (align marks, mark direction of belt if re-using -- service interval is 60K) 8. R&R water pump (bolts: 17 ft/lb) 9. re-install timing belt (seek an expert if unsure) 10. adjust timing belt tension (tensioner fixing bolts 16-22 ft/lb, belt tension 46.3-68.3 lbs) 11. re-install belt covers (7-9 ft/lb) 12. re-install crank pulley (special tool) 13. re-install support bracket carefully (spray lubricant on reamer area as tightening) 14. re-install other components in reverse order of removal (mount: center 25 ft/lb, side 72-87 ft/lb)

Dodge does not use inertia/reset switches.

lets just say this task takes an experienced mechanic at the local dealer a full 8 hour day if its a good day. for an average guy like me probably a lot longer. and the special tools would probably be nice as well for this task

I'm having the same problem with my 91 RT/TT. I have not found the problem yet, but from researching the 'Net, most likely the problem is traced to a sensor, bad spark plug wires/plugs, or a vacuum leak. I was told by a mechanic to start with the plugs and wires, if the problem persists, next step is check for a vacuum leak, and finally, check the sensors. I ran my car through a computer code check (because I have the check engine light coming on) and it indicated a bad O2 sensor, which would not cause the problem. Does your problem occur when going at a steady speed, then accelerating slightly, and it feels like the car is bogging down, or detonating/misfiring? That's the problem I am having. On my next days off, the plugs and wires will be changed. My neighbour thinks it is a vacuum leak, though, the way it idles.

I had same problem-cleaned out the carb put on cool air intake, new k&n filter, oil change and she purrs like a kitten.Spark plugs do need a changing and 02 sensor could cause that it did on my other car wouldn't pass etest(I am from Canada) changed the o2 sensor and new catalytic converter and runs perfect.

First of all...auto or manual? Also, why was the question asked as if overdrive is it's own gear? Check your fuses first, but with lack of detail there is no definite answer at this time.

10w-30 fully synthetic is best

Did you try checking or replacing the battery? Usually clicking when trying to start means dirty battery terminals or a dead battery. That's the first thing to check, before ignition switches, ignition relays, and starters; auto parts stores will check it for free. If it's dirty or corroded terminals, clean them up and try starting again. If it's dead and old, just replace it. It it's a new battery and it's dead, check your charging system (alternator, fuses, belts, etc).
