What is the difference between the 5 speed and 6 speed of a 2001 Dodge 2500 4x4 and which would you prefer and why?

5-speed is manual with 5 gears +R, 6-spead 6 gears +R

it depends on how you use the truck 5-speed is good the norm diving can tow tralers but 6-speed is not as hard on the moter for towing, if you want to take the boat or sea-dew out otherwise it just means 1 more gear

The NV4500 (5 speed) Has a direct drive in 4th gear and 5th OS an over drive. The NV5600 (6 speed) 5th gear is the direct drive and 6th is the over drive. It is a much heavier trany than the NV4500. The only real bennifit is another gear between 1st and the direct drive that will allow the engine to stay in its power range better. I prefer the 5 speed because I don't pull enough to bennifit from a 6 speed and I'm not training to be an Olympic boat rower. If you are looking for a gearing advantage espesialy at freeway speeds go with the 5 speed and get a Gear Vendor added on to it. That will result in a double over drive, and you can split each gear, best of all it will vastly improve the fule milage.

I would like to add this. The six speed has a HO engine

(high out put). Witch is better for towing, and can handle more of a load for longer time.

I get like 26mpg freeway and 18 in the city drove a five speed and did not like it much keeped looking for sixth gear. Sixth gear I can take down to 35 mph and cruise step the peddle and it take right off like nothing.

What is the point settings for a 1982 318 motor for a dodge truck?

There are no breaker points in a Dodge vehicle that new. That vehicle has electronic ignition. If the distributor has been changed you must use the spec that corresponds to the vehicle the distributor originally came from. Probably 0.014-0.019 inch.

Please note: the 318 is an engine, not a motor.

Dodge pickup truck oil sending unit how can you tell if its going bad?

This is what I'm going through currently: 1985 Dodge 1/2 ton, 318 V8. Been noticing a leak, looks like down near (above maybe?) the oil filter. Just today, while driving, noticed the oil gauge shows flat zero -- Freaked me out because my Dad bought this truck brand new in 1985, so the last thing I want to do is blow the motor -- so I stopped immediately, checked the oil, and there's plenty. Someone had told me, when it started to leak, it was probably the sending unit, now I'm pretty sure it is because of the zeroed out gauge. Hope this helps.

Have the car scanned and repaired.

Where do you find a replacement dashboard top for a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 pick up truck?

== == == == == == Go to LMCtruck.com

It depends on what you mean by "replacement dash."

If you want to cover up the unsightly dash then a dash cap from a place like LMCtruck.com will work fine. They actually look pretty good. If you want to actually replace the dash - for example yours is so cracked you can no longer attach the instrument bezel - then you need a place like wholesaleparts.com and input your year model etc. and look under "Instrument panel" and look for either "Upper Pad" or "upper Panel." Good luck!
