Usually problems like that are contributed by a loose ground wire in the system.Check all ground terminations for loose wires or paint under them.

It is possibly the injection pump. Happened to me. Contaminated fuel can cause it. The pump was replaced along with lift pump. Runs great now--Dodge has the best diesel engine. First, check the fuel pump relay--that happened to me, too. Under the hood, driver's side, plastic snap-off cover.

You can, like you can with anything else, but it will take a lot of custom work. The mounts might be different, plus the older engine didn't need to rely on a computer to work, but the newer one does. The jist of what I'm saying is, it's gonna be a lot work, and expensive to, so it's best just to find something different, unless you're really fitted for it and have plently of time and money to do the job.

TDC is top dead center it pretains to the position of the pistons. The number one piston has to be TDC when you put on the timing chain or belt for it to work properly.

How can you identify a mopar 727 big block transmission? I dealt with this with my 1965 Chrysler w/ 383 V-8. At least for my car, the big block version is stamped "727 BB" and the case is longer. I recall 35"L from front of case to end of the aluminum (not rubber driveshaft seal). Everything looked good on the rebuilt transmission, but when I unwrapped it to install I found the speedometer hole was too big and it didn't have the cable shift input. Under the gun with a moving truck coming, I had mine rebuilt locally, which didn't fix the "morning sickness" problem (fluid draining back from torque converter?). I since found that 1965 was the year Mopars converted from pushbutton to column shift but retained the cable shift of the pushbutton (1965 only). If I ever have to replace my case, I am guessing an earlier big-block transmission would work if I can't find a 1965.

The thermostat is located inside of the top radiator housing on the engine. The air filter box and top radiator hose will have to be removed along with one bracket to get to the housing. unbolt the housing, and the thermostat will be inside.

Remove the plastic covering on the steering column. The ignition switch is the box that the ignition cylinder runs into. It's basically easy with only removing a couple of bolts to replace. The only trick is to be very careful actually pulling the box off the column. Make sure the key is in power off position. wiggle the box off, when putting the ignition cylinder into the new ignition switch you don't want to turn the key. Leave it in the off position. Then watch the rod in the rear of the new ignition switch as it goes back into the column. I have seen people have to turn the key in the ignition cylinder while pushing gently into the ignition switch. But beware it can turn into a real nightmare. If you use a bran new ignition cylinder, it will state all over do not turn the cylinder until it's installed.

Dodge 2500 and 3500 4x4 trucks use a split front axle that is engaged with vacuum lines that run from the intake to the transfer case then to the front differential.

That was true up till 2002, after that the shifter on the axle was electric if it had one at all.

If you have run this vehicle within the proper design parameters, you may simply need a diesel fuel system cleaner.

If you have run red diesel, you will definitely need fuel system cleaner.

If you have turned up the engine, it could be injector pump wear.

If this engine has high miles, it probably needs a valve adjustment.

My bet lies with the fuel system. Try "Power Service" Diesel fuel supplement.

Yes your truck will not start unless you replace this resistor. You can find the part in any good junk yard or from a good parts store like Napa.

take it around one more revolution, TDC is meant to be in the compression stroke and you may be in the exhaust stroke. if that does not help then you may need to remove the distributor and replace it in the right alignment.
