Blue smoke can be caused by a blown head gasket. .

Blue is oil being burned in the engine.

Is your check engine light on ? If it is then have the engine scanned with an engine scanner. Black smoke means engine/fuel system is to rich./to much fuel.

Could be the MAP sensor,Fuel pressure regulator, coolant sensor. You need to scan the engine.

What can cause black sooty exhaust is bad valve guides. When the guides are bad oil leaks into the cylinder when the car isn't running. When the car starts it produces black exhaust.

White smoke from the exhaust pipe indicates that the engine is allowing water into the cylinders. The water then boils in the cylinder and exits the engine as steam (white smoke). This could be be from the inlet manifold (especially if the engine is a V), it could be a head gasket (leak between the water jacket & the cylinder). Or worst it could be a cracked cylinder head.

Or, you're burning oil and you need an oil change.

If it only happens on start up it is probably just some condensated water in the exhaust system. It is possible that a small leak in the head gasket causes coolant to leak into the cylinder while the car sits and burn off right away, but you will notice a drop in your coolant level.

Could be carbon build up? Look up "seafoam" on Google Video or any other video sharing site. If the smoke looks like that, then yes, it's likely carbon build up within the engine that is getting "burned off" upon start-up.

It depends exactly what it has failed on. As very few people have the required equipment most cars need to be taken to a competent mechanic for proper diagnosis and repair of the problem.

IF its doing this only when it warms up, it might be a bad coil - is it getting gas?

You might have a blown head gasket or your engine block is cracked.

Edit to add; The white smoke is steam. That means that your coolant got into your cylinders. A blown head gasket is the most likely cause, but a cracked engine block or warped aluminum heads are possibilities.

White smoke is water vapor (or coolant) in the exhaust, the black smoke is the (normal) over-rich condition at WOT (full acceleration)

White smoke can also be unburned fuel, generally seen on earlier, non-electronic engines that are mistimed.

THE CANNISTER IS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE RIGHT NEXT TO THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF THE FUEL TANK, IF YOU DROP THE TANK WITH OUT DISCONNECTING THE LINE COUPLER IT WILL BREAK IT OFF, I KNOW I DID IT, IT IS EASY TO SEE AND REMOVE AFTER YOU DISONNECT THE 3 hoses connected to it

Large vapor leak in the evaporative emmisions system

there may be leakage in your coolant water cap at the time of starting vibration causes water to escape from it entering in to the engine causes white smoke

The white smoke coming from the exhasut is a sign then engine has a blown head gasket. Coolant is getting into the combustion chamber and appears as white smoke at the exhaust. Maybe this is why the car has sat for 2 years?

Probably a bad fuel petcock on the bottom of the tank. It is vacuum operated so it will not flow fuel unless the engine is running. (Safety feature) My older '79 GS has a "prime" setting on the petcock that allows the fuel to bypass the vacuum shutoff and run straight into the carbs (thus filling the floatbowls should the engine not be able to start due to lack of fuel in the carbs.) Either you have a bad petcock or you are checking it in the "ON" position. If you have "prime" it should flow fuel without a problem. If not there may be dirt in the petcock or other internal problems. Hope this helps. Mark in NE Indiana. _____ I just fixed my 1983 GS750E which had a fuel flow issue with the petcock. After disassembly of the petcock it was found that the fuel valve o-ring would tack itself to the sealing surface, thus, not allowing fuel to flow. Nothing in particular. Water dripping from the tailpipe is normal. It's just condensation from the combustion process. It is much more prevalent in newer vehicles due mostly to their anti-pollution technologies.

Actually it is getting too much gas. Black smoke is an indication of an overly rich fuel mixture.

Highly unlikely.

Water entering the system is the most likely cause.
