Was Robin Hood a real man or not?

Stories say yes, but other people say no. I don't think there is a right, or wrong answer.

Robin Hood was a Saxon Hero. His story was passed by oral tradition - as few saxons could write. The Normans and monks could write, but it is possible that an Anti-Norman, Saxon Hero was simply erased from history. Official history was created by the people, or person writing it.

At the siege of Rochester Castle, the rebels surrendered to King John in 1215. Only one person was executed. He was an archer. This archer must have particularly angered King John - and yet his name was not recorded. The most famous archer in the rebelion against King John, was of course, Robin Hood. If he was at the siege of Rochester, he most certainly would have been executed.

If robin was real people belive that from ancient storys and poems that his name was Robin of Loxley. He then went and fought in a crusade and when he returned his father had been killed and the sherif of nottinham had claimed the land. When the sheriff found out that Robin Hood was back he was set on finding Robin. Robin then ran into sherwood forest and was approached by a gang of bandits. Robin then won a fight and became apart the group, over time he became the leader of the group of bandite ( now known as the merry men). Robin then killed all the gaurds and tax collecters that enterd the forest. zhe apperantly gave the money back to poor i think that he would of kept it all for himself. But anyway we all know what happend from here dut robin died when he returned from a hunt when he had grown pretty old. He then went to the piory gate house were they would heal him but the nurse opend his viens to use a common cure called bloodn letting but she did not shut his viens and only left him for dead a man then came up to kill robin but robin killed him and died a short time after. :(

Did Robin Hood and Maid Marion ever get married?

The original sources of the Robin Hood legend are ballads composed before 1450. I base my novel The Robin Hood Chronicles on these ballads. They refer to a King Edward, who visits Robin in Yorkshire. The only King Edward who was in Yorkshire was Edward II, who was there in 1323. In the ballad King Edward makes Robin one of his yeomen. There is a Robyn Hod listed among the servants of Edward II in 1323. This Robyn Hod had a wife named Mathilda. Maid Marian did not enter the Robin Hood legend for another 300 years. So the answer to the question is: If we are talking about a historical Robin Hood, he did not marry Maid Marian.

Amber is a hard, translucent fossil resin, that takes millions of years and involves oxidation and polymerization of the original organic compounds, oxygenated hydrocarbons. What does a black cat silhouette tattoo symbolize?

Similar to the Ying and Yang - the black and white cat would symbolise good vs bad or negative vs positive. White cats have been linked with sun, fertility, and warmth whereas black cats have been linked with the moon, sterility, hairl/storm.

Cats - in and of themselves - are regarded as dual creatures - possesing both positive and negative traits...the black and white imagery of this type of tattoo only strengthens the symbolism of this dual nature.

When was Bram Stoker's Dracula written?

Dracula was first written about in 1897 by Bram Stoker. He is the one that started it all. Although Dracula is a work of fiction it does contain some historical references.

However, it must be noted that 25 years prior to Bram Stoker's Dracula a Gothic Novella was published by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu in 1872. It tells the story of a young woman's susceptibilaty to the attentions of a female vampire "Carmilla". As stated, "Carmilla" (also the title) predates Bram Stoker, however, it is about a female "vampire" and not specifically "Dracula" himself.

The legend (as most of us know it today) was originated from Bram Stokers 1897 Novel.

When did Robin Hood die?

The story of Robin Hood first shows up as an oral poem around the year 1225 and this is told from person to person. It was in poetry form so people could remember it. As the story grows and evolves new characters are added and the storyline changes with the times. The modern retelling of the story has added events, people, and times to the tale, so to a great deal of extent he has never died. A fictional character that always evolves.

Is mermaids real or a myth?

There has never been any found forensic evidence that has ever suggested that mermaids or mermen ever existed. There has been loads of fakes over the years, often called Fiji mermaids, which are almost always the mummified remains of a small monkey and a fish stitched together to look like an infant mermaid. Not that I believe that they ever existed, but I would assume that if they did and the fact that they always live in the oceans in mythology, that the remains would be quickly eaten by a shark or something of the sort, but still you would think that something would've been found by now. Same thing with Nessie and Bigfoot.are thay rill

Was Dracula a real vampire?

No.

Early belief in vampires has thought to have come from people at the time not fully understanding the process of a body decomposing after death and so trying to rationalize this by creating the figure of the vampire to explain it.

The name comes from Vlad the Impaler, prince of Wallachia (now part of Romania). In modern Romanian, it means "son of the devil" but in Vlad's time it meant "son of the dragon." Vlad is somewhat of a national hero in Romania for preventing the expansion of the Ottoman Empire but he was (and is) notorious for the cruelty of the punishments he meted out -- his favorite method being impalement.

Bram Stoker borrowed the name for his famous vampire novel, "Dracula," but there is no evidence that the historic Dracula ever drank blood. Stoker toured Romania while gathering material for his novel and heard of Vlad in his travels. However, he demoted his character to the rank of count. The real Dracula was a prince.

He demoted his character to the rank of count because Vlad the Impaler's father was a count for the king of France. The king of France set up and order called the Order Of The Dragons. He sent the counts to rule all over the world. Vlad Tepes, Vlad the Impaler's father was sent to Romania in a town called Wallachia, now Transylvania. Vlad Tepes was proud of the order. He put the sign of the order: a dragon on the Romanian flag. The Romanian people back then were very poor and uneducated. TheY thought the dragon was the Devil, or "Dracul" in Romanian. Later, Vlad Tepes's son was born, and the rest is explained in the top paragraph.

What are the similarities between myths and legends?

Myths are traditional stories occurring in a timeless past. They involve supernatural elements and are beyond the frontiers of logic. Long ago, when our ancestors heard the sound of thunder and saw lightening, they were frightened because they could not understand why these things happened. In order to understand these and other natural events, they created stories. The stories were handed down from generation to generation all around the world.

On the other hand, legends, however, are stories about real people who are famous for doing something brave or extraordinary. Every time the story was told, it became more exaggerated and so it is now difficult to tell how much of the story is really true.

Link between fictional Dracula and historical Dracula?

He lived there

Count Dracula, a fictional character in the Dracula novel, was inspired by one of the best-known figures of the Romanian history — Vlad Dracula, nicknamed Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler) — who was a ruler of Wallachia (1456-1462). Transylvania is an area in Romania. Vlad died in battle, over the age of fifty. He will always be remembered. Many remember him as a cruel fiend. Some remember him as a proud and fierce defender of his homeland. He was, perhaps, both.
