However, ferrets have quite simple tastes - what they like is meat, which is easy to come by in Israel just as it is in most countries. You might even be able to find a butcher who slaughters on the premises and who is willing to give you the various bits of meat left over following shechita which, since your ferret has little interest in keeping kosher, will be more than adequate and will save you money. Although they're carnivorous, most ferrets love sultanas and these make an excellent occasional (ie, no more than one a day) treat and are especially useful when training your ferret. They also love hummus, which is available anywhere and everywhere in Israel.
A ferret needs to be out of the cage for more than half an hour a day - four hours is the absolute minimum and even that's not ideal: six hours is best. They're very intelligent animals and will soon succumb to boredom if locked up for too long, often developing bad habits such as self-mutilation (pulling out fur and biting themselves) if they don't have enough stimuli. Also, as responsive and loving creatures, spending just half an hour a day with your ferret won't be sufficient for the loving bond that can develop to form - and that'd be a great pity for both you and for the ferret.
