Is your pregnancy normal if the ultrasound scan reveals you are 5 weeks pregnant with the gestational sac and yolk sac minus fetal pole but based on your last menstrual period you ought to be 9 weeks?

There are two answers to this - one good and one bad. The most probable answer is that you miscalculated and you are actually 5 weeks pregnant. Unfortunately there is a possibility that you did fall pregnant 9 weeks ago and that the pregnancy will not progress. It is possible that either the fetus is not developing, or that the fetus has died which usually means the gestational sac will shrink and appear to be not as advanced as you are.

How accurate are the ultrasounds for dating a pregnancy?

My wife told her doctor she didn't know when her last mp was, so he sent her for an ultrasound! How do you stop sucking your thumb?

First, you need to want to stop. It's not going to do any good to read this answer but not want to quit. Next, place a barrier between your thumb and your mouth. This should be something you won't enjoy sticking in your mouth (ex. a cotton ball or sock). Spices such as paprika or chili powder may do, as your brain with associate thumb sucking with an unpleasant experience. Lastly, occupy your mouth with gum. This will reduce the urge to stick your thumb in your mouth.

Is a heart rate of 179 fast for 11 weeks fetal development and what could it mean?

Don't know for sure. We just had ours measured at 8 weeks 0 days, and it was 168. Web using Google seems to imply that fetal heart rate peaks at 9 weeks of development, and 179 isn't way too high. But you should do the search yourself. I used this search: heart rate week fetal OR fetus One source says: "Beginning at a rate near the mother's, at approximately 80-85 B/M at the start of the 5th week, the heart rate accelerates to a mean of 175 B/M (+/-20 = 2SD) at 9.2 LMP weeks. It then abruptly begins to decelerate. This increase is approximately 10 beats every 3 days until the early 9th week." Note that LMP = last missed period; meaning, the conventional measurement of gestational age. Another source says "Normal heart rate at 6 weeks is 90-113 bpm and at 9 weeks is 144-170 bpm." So...it's hard to say. Sounds like it's not way to high to me. BUT ASK YOUR DOCTOR.

When a uncircumcised man hurts when the skin of his penis is pulled all the way to the back behind the head is this normal that hurts?

My son is seven and had this same problem. He was uncircumcised and we took him to a urilogist and he said that it is common in children that aren't circumcised for the skin to basically re-attach itself so that when you pull it back it is very painful. We ended up having to have him circumcised. My nephew had the same problem but they didn't have to do a full circumcision they just unattached the skin so that it was able to move without the pain. Hope this helps.

I believe there is nothing wrong with a man/ boy being non circumcised it is perfectly normal for it to hurt when the skin is pulled back the head of the penis is use to being covered by skin and the skin will also be very tight... this person needs to work on pulling the skin back for a few seconds at a time and slowly over time increase the time in which the skin is pulled back after a little time the head of the penis will grow use to being in the open and it will also not hurt at all... understand that there are also studies in Africa that uncircumcised men have a lower chance of infectious diseases like HIV remember most of the world is uncircumcised this only came from Jewish belief not for medical reasons ( it is wrong to circumcise a boy who is unable to consent )

When you engage the 4 wheel drive in your 2002 trailblazer it doesnt work properly you can feel it as it switches sounds and feels like a thump and when driving you can hear it also feels very slugg?

I have had similar experiences with mine also. I have found that it helps alot to keep pressure off of transmission while it is switching over to 4WD. I may put it in Neutral, then drive to help it, or even let the vehicle roll a little bit until it is done changing to the 4WD. The slugishness I have felt also, 4WD should only be used in snowy, icey conditions on the road, or off roading. When you use the 4WD on dry paved roadways, you put alot of unnecessary pressure on your vehicle, especially on turns. Hope this helps.

Yes it does need to be 20 minutes long, at least. It takes 20minutes to accurately asess a fetal heart rate baseline. We are looking for two accelerations of 15beats above baseline during that 20minutes.
