To change the starter do these steps:

1. Remove the negative battery termnal off the battery.

2. Take the battery and tray out of the engine bay.

3. Take the big positive battery cable off of the starter.

4. Take the small s terminal off the solenoid.

5. Take the upper mounting bolt loose with a ratchet, extension and socket.

6. Take the 2 lower mounting bolts loose.

7. Lift the starter up and out of the engine bay.

Not good. Sounds like engine damage or timing chain broke or jumped a tooth??? I am no expert here. Good luck.

I had the same problem on my 2002 Trailblazer back in summer of 2004. I noticed that my light wasn't lit up either. I took it in to the dealer and was told that my four wheel drive hadn't been working probably since the day I purchased the car (new). This alarmed me since I had just returned from a trip out Westdriving the car to the top of Pike's Peak with out four wheel drive. GM covered the cost of the repair.

Worn ignition switch? Check to see if it has a rod connected to ignition switch at the lower end of the steering column--may needs adjustment

If it is red it is flashing because your seat belts aren't buckled. If it is yellow it is a warning that your air bag system isn't working.

Sounds like your neutral safety switch. When you depress your brake, a cylinder in the shifter mechanism releases and allows the gear change. I would bring it to a mechanic, and get it inspected.

The shift solenoid is under the console in the shift assembly.

get a haynes or chilton manual the job is quite involved you have to remove the timing cover and belt and such. when you do the job change the timing belt since you will there anyway.

Behind the left kick panel passenger side front. Bolted to the bracket that holds the computer. Its the one with the brown connector.

It is in the rear hatch or trunk area just over drivers side rear tire. Access from inside the car.

I just took off fuel tank on my 1990 Escort, and that's where it's at, on a GT athe relay is under dash. The fuel pump cut off switch{enertia switch} is in rear of car.

It is towable only if it is a manual transmission in neutral. An automatic transmission is not towable unless the front wheels are put on a dolly or raised off the ground. The reason for this is that the pump that supplies lubricant to the transmission only runs when the engine is running.

It is just about the hardest most difficult part of an engine to replace. The engine has to come out. The head has to be taken off. The rod of the piston has to be disconnected from the crankshaft. the top of the cylinder has to have a ridge reamer operated on it to get the piston out.

I have same question for my 1999 Escort. I think the trick is to remove the glove compartment enslosure (seems to be just a few screws holding it in). Once removed, there should be enough room to locate the controller on the back side of the radio facelplate, and secure it with the torx screw. There's not enoug slack in the cable to attach it with the radio face plate assembly outside of the dashboard. I can't say it's the right answer, but I'll give it a try.

As near as I can tell, the se has an automatic trans, power windows, heaver suspension, speed control, wheel covers and power mirrors. I could be wrong.

Yes it does. It is on the intake side of the cylinder head underneath the intake manifold which has to come off to access it.

The black door handle inside is probably broken. Mine was and I replaced it with parts from ebay. Only about $12.00

You can't have it both ways. If it's using fluid, then it is leaking out. If you are not seeing any on the ground or at the slave cylinder have you considered that it may be leaking from the back of the master cylinder and running inside of the car. You may not have noticed because it is going between the firewall and the carpet.

It's fuel injected so it doesn't have a carburetor

The heater core is leaking. The whole dash has to come out to fix it. Even master mechanics dread a heater core repair. Try some alumapowder in the radiator. Try some of this, it really works and stops leaks without plugging up the radiator.

It is under the air filter housing.

To drain and refill it takes 2.5 quarts of Mercon Automatic Transmission Fluid.

for the rocker arms bolts its-- 98 and later, step 1- 168 in-lbs. step 2-- rotate an additional 30-degrees. this is all for a 3.1 v6, the intake bolts are -- (lower) step 1, 62 in-lbs, step2, 115 in-lbs, intake manifold bolts/studs(upper)---18 ft-lbs,
