I now have 309000 miles on my truck and it is still going strong. I have never had any major engine trouble. Would recommend SLICK 50 to everyone that wants their vehicles engine to last. I don't believe all the hype that you see on the Internet about the "FTC charges". It's probably people in the automotive manufacturing business that does not want our engines to last 300000 plus miles so that they can sell more vehicles!

Just replace the entire half-shaft driveaxle. It is really pointless to try to rebuild a CV joint when it's only $75-$100 for the whole half-shaft driveaxle. NOTE: The passenger side is very easy. The driver's side is notorious for being tough to get out of the transaxle. Good luck.

On my 2000 ford focus, I fixed the problem by doing the following. on the brake pedal there is a gray cylindrical part, about the size of a $10 roll of quaters. this part attaches to the brake pedal from the back side by a half counter clock wise turn. on the tip of the part their is a push button, when the brake is released the button is pushed in by a metal part. when the brake pedal is applyed the button is realeased making your brake lights turn on. my guess is you some how kicked this device off like I did, just go look behind the brake pedal and screw the device back on. good luck. Replace or adjust the brake light switch. Located somewhere on the brake pedal swing arm. little piece of rubber sticks out of the pbrake pedal, hits a button. this has oprobably fallen off, happens on all cars. mostly hondas. anyways this is probably your problem

9 times out of 10 its because of the side door there is a little black switch on the door that pops out when the doors open and back in when its closed this tells the locking system that its not locked so it re opens the doors
try uncliping the switch and locking this should work Another problem that causes this is a broken earth wire to the door locking motors both front and the rear doors,it doesnt seem to matter about the side door.

Disregard any information you may get from auto parts stores stating that the engine used in the ZX2 is an interference engine.
NOTE: the 1999 ZX2 had a running change in the design of the timing components in the middle of production. If your car was originally equipped with a valve cover which has provisions for a spark plug wire cover, then you will need the timing kit for a 1998-1999.5 (3-pulleys are used). If the valve cover does not have a provision for a spark plug cover, will have the letters "VCT" on it, then you will need the timing kit for a 1999.5-2003 (uses 2 pulleys)
Answer #1It depends on what motor you have. The ZX2 was available with a few motors. When mine broke I called... not exaggerating... 20 or 30 Ford dealerships and spoke with mechanics. About Half said with too much certainty "Oh you're fine! It's a non-interference for sure!" and the other half said "You're screwed! It is an interference motor. 99.9% chance that the valves were bent because you were driving it when it broke/slipped" Only about 2 mechanics of the 20+ took more than a couple minutes to check. One even called me back about an hour later after searching it up in books. This one said its okay, the other that spent time to find out said it's dead.Bottom line. Call Napa and they have a book they can look in and it takes like 2 seconds. Also many Timing belt companies have an application on the internet saying "Find out if your car is non interference or not" put in your cars info and GET MORE THAN ONE OPPINION!"
I'm still working on mine and I'll let you know how it goes. NAPA said dead, one belt companies book said OKAY, another said DEAD. We'll see.
