I have a '96 Sierra 1500 Z71 Ext Cab and the fuel filter on my truck is located on the backside of the rocker panel (its attached to the body of truck) of the extended cab area. If I remember right, you will need a 16mm wrench & a 20mm wrench. Once you disconnect the fuel lines a small amount of fuel will drain, so make sure your not directly underneath the filter but over to the side. Then to get the filter out of the holding bracket just slide it out. It will only come out one way and if I remember right it slides towards the front of the truck. When replacing the new filter pay attention to the flow direction arrow on the filter. Hope this helps!! What you need to do is find the fuel line. On most vehicles, the filter is closer to the fuel tank. It should be about 3 to 6 inches in length. To remove, you either need a set of line wrenches or a fuel line clip remover/ expander to remove the old filter. I have a 94 Sierra and my filter was located right below the cab corner ( mine is a standard cab) and it required line wrenches to remove. I'm not sure which tool you will need for your's but if you can find the filter you can look to determine. Hope this Helps you out! I did this last weekend. It is located on the frame about 1 foot from the gas tank on my extended cab short bed. I just used a crecent wrench and was able to remove is fairly easily. Watch out for gas draining from the lines. ANSWERThe filter is inside the left frame rail just in front of the gas tank. You need to remove the gas cap and bleed the fuel pressure before opening the system. There is a schrader valve on the fuel rail you can use to bleed any pressure. The easiest thing is to have the guys at the oil change place swap it out for you next time you have it in for an oil change.

Maybe it is locking more than one gear when it is put into low. It might not be releasing one or two gears are engaged at the same time the transfer case would lock up.You would have two different gear ratios trying to turn the wheels at different speeds and they would fight each other.

A tiny 2-prong junction box on the firewall. one wire comes to it from the Ignition, & the other wire goes out from it to the starter. If you take a jumper wire from the positive on the battery & touch it to the post on the junction box where the starter wire comes out, with the key on, It should start the truck. If it doesn't, you need a new starter.

have your disdribtor checked I had a bad one. It was fluding out 2 cylenders on my truck witch caused it to shake. Your cap could be bad too.

the knock sensors are located in the top of the engine block. The intake has to be removed to get to the sensors.

The transmission fluid should be checked when the is vehicle is warmed up and while the engine is on. The Trans oil dip stick has a red cap and is located on the left side of the engine (when standing in the front of truck) and toward the windshield. Pull the dip stick a wipe, relace, remove and check the level on the stick.

from what i ve beeen told you have to drop the fuel tank, make sure you have less than 1/4 tank full or empty.

I have changed the fuel pump on my 97 gmc sierra twice now and the first time i dropped the fuel tank and that was quite a bit of work.. But the second time i unbolted the whole bed and did it from the top. It was alot easier

If you look under your hood you will see an evaporitive fuel canister on the drivers side. Towards the front of the vehicle on the canister is a cap you can pull off and if you look inside it's probably plugged. I had the identical problem on my 98 GMC and after taking a shopvac to the canister I solved the problem. GM wants a couple huindred bucks for it if you just want to get a new one but if it's plugged it creates a vacuum in your tank.
