What is the song silver ships of andilar about?

I'm not 100% sure, I've just heard the song for the first time and got curious. The name Valinor is a Lord of the Rings reference. It is to the west of Middle Earth. In LOTR, the shipwright's name at the Gray Havens was Cirdan, however. At some point Cirdan taught a man named Aldarion about shipbuilding, but that's the closest that I've found so far! I'll keep listening and see if I can figure it out!

Is it true that when the first settlers came to the US the natives couldn't perceive their ships for the simple fact that they'd never seen ships before?

== == North American Aboriginals were adept at using boats, such as canoes to move on the water, so I don't think that they were that impressed with the European ships. They would have been very amazed to see the white men themselves, and their advanced use of tools and metal items. The Aboriginals were much more capable of living from the land than the Europeans were, and in fact the Aboriginals had to show the Europeans how to find food and how to dress for the winter cold. Without their help the first groups of Europeans would have died off due to starvation and lack of vitamins in their diet.
