How do you change the Drive indicator light bulb on a Odyssey?

This is a complicated and delicate procedure. The bulb is mounted on 2 pins that are part of the instrument cluster circuit board. The insrument cluster needs to be removed from the dash, and disassembeled from the front and the rear. The bulb is a special order part from Honda and is difficult to access even with the cluster apart. It is NOT one of the bulbs that are mounted to the back side of the cluster, such as the illumination, and warning lamps - these bulbs are much easier to change. The bulb is less than $10, but be prepared for a 2-3 hour labour charge to replace it if it's not something you care to tackle on your own. A new instrument cluster is quite pricey if something breaks! Note: It is not necessary to remove the gauge needles... and Don't try to remove them. The are snapped in place and are very difficult to calibrate once they've been removed.

What are the materials used for chassis frame of a car?

Most cars manufactured in the last 30 years do not have a chassis frame, they have a monocoque or unibody design. The materials here are mostly steel, but in exotics can include aluminium, carbon fiber and even some elements are made from titanium.

For bigger cars and trucks that do have a chassis frame, it is always steel. These cars and trucks range from the earliest Ford (the Model T) through to the 1980's Range Rover and the 2010 Ford and GM trucks and big SUV's that use a frame rail chassis.

The types of steel vary, but it is always steel. Heavy and strong, although not very rigid when you look at the chassis from a transverse torsion point of view.

Your 2003 Odyssey won't go out of park you put the key in the steering column to get it out Do you have to fix this or can you fix this myself?

I had this problem with my 2002 Odyssey. The brake lights wouldn't come on but the horn worked (rules out the fuse located under the hood, passenger side compartment). Could not get the thing out of park. I temporarily used the emergency unlock switch located on top of the steering column. (a small plastic tab can be pried out with a screwdriver and a key inserted pushes a button down releasing the shift lock. its in the manual.) The culprit was the BRAKE STOP SWITCH located above the arm of the brake pedal. VERY easy to remove and replace. And the part was at an auto part store. (fairly cheap too). The switch is a safety feature so a kid doesn't slip the van into drive accidently. Its just above the brake pedal, about the size of a C battery with a wire connected. First take the wire off by pushing the tab in on the wire connector and pulling it off the switch and tucking it away somewhere. Then get a wrench and loosen the lock nut a few turns, then unscrew the switch from the bracket. (it will be more obvious what to do when you have the new part in your hand). Then take the new switch and screw it into the hole. Push the brake down and feel on the other side of the bracket to make sure the button just clears the bracket so when you depress the button completely it is flush with the bracket face. Then get the wrench out, tighten the new lock nut and plug it back in. And hey, you fixed it. Check to see if the brake lights are working and you should be able to put it into drive by depressing the brake pedal. Check to make sure that the brake lights are working

Shift interlock and brake lights are the same circuit

May be a bad fuse Try turning key to 1st position (unlock) without starting vehicle

Shift to neutral to start and then shift to Drive

How do you change a oil pressure switch on a Honda Odyssey?

Looking at a photograph, I think it just screws into the engine with an electrical attachment on the end.

I have done this on a 2003 Odyssey EX. The oil pressure switch is located on the oil pump assembly, which is behind the passenger side front wheel. There are 2 sensors - the oil pressure switch is the furthest one and least accessable. You need to pull off the connector, which is very tight. I used a pair of pliars with a cloth to twist it off. Be carefull not to damage the connector. There are 2 different switches available for the 2003, each with different tread sizes. TIP: buy both switch types before you start, that way you can return the one you don't need. I used a regular wrench to remove/install the switch, and it stopped the leak that prompted the repair. Another TIP: watch how long your wrench is, because you can catch the power steering pressure switch wiring harness and break the thin wires, leading to a much more expensive repair.... Next time I will disconnect the power steering pressure switch first and pay more attention. Or buy a shorter wrench.... Good luck!

Why would the radio stay on in a 1999 Honda Odyssey when the igition is off and the key is out?

It should turn off when you open the door, its a feature so that you can listen to the radio with the vehicle ignition off. If it is not shutting off at all there may be a problem with the door switches in which case you would have the same problem with the interior lights. Lastly if an aftermarket radio was installed then they may have wired it so that it would work that way.

How do you change the battery on the wireless headphones that come with the 2006 Honda Odyssey?

Where do I fill the transmission fluid for a 2005 Honda odyssey transmission fluid change?

Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) needs to be changed according to the owners manual. For a 2005 Odyssey it is every 30,000 miles. You just need to buy 4 quarts of ATF from a Honda Dealer, believe it is Z1 and only need to put in 3.5 quarts. There is no tranmission filter to change.

The drain plug is located towards the driver side tire. It is a blue colored 18mm nut they just insert a 3/8" socket wrench directly into the nut, no socket adapter needs to be put on it. Push it towards the back of the van (counter clockwise) to open, drain. Take the oil to a recycle center, check with Kragen O'reilly or Autozone near you. Then tighten nut toward front of the van.

Then take out dipstick for automatic transmission fluid check on the right near the battery and fill 3.5 quarts through that 1/4" pipe opening. You can either make a cardboard funnel or buy one from an auto shop and make a small cardboard funnel on end so it does not drip. You are now good for another 30,000 miles!

The new ATF fluid is pinkish red and you can see when you change oil it has lost that pinkish hue.

What is causing whirring noise in your 2006 Honda Odyssey?

Does the sound appear to be louder when you are steering? Also, does it seem to happen more often if you are running the heat or air conditioning? If so, there's a good possibility it's the power steering pump. I had this on my 2005 Odyssey, and it's a known issue on 2005-2006 models. I was lucky enough to get this replaced under warranty. It made the whole drive SO much quieter and nice.

Why does your Honda Odyssey shake when you apply the brakes?

You probably have a warped brake rotor. This can happen when the brakes get over heated, usually when "riding the brakes" while going down a long steep hill. Use a lower gear rather than keep continuous pressure on the brakes. The rotors will have to be replaced.

How do you replace the odometer light bulb in 2004 Honda Odyssey?

Some say the odometer on the Honda Odyssey does not have a bulb and that if the odometer light fails, you have to replace the entire circuit board for the odometer, which costs about $350 from the dealer. That is incorrect. There is a separate backlight for the Odometer - it runs ~$5 but requires ~$100 in labor (1 hr install time) (12/30/08).

7/09 : I changed one in a 2000 Odyssey. I first took off both the left (by power door switches) and right (A/C) panels - these pull/pryl off. Then I took off the long dash unit (9 screws or so). Then I took out the speedmeter assembly (4 screws). and replaced the small black bulb ( $6 at the Honda dealer). The whole job took ~1 hour - was not that hard! You should replace the black bulb in the A/C panel as well while your at it (these twist 1/2 turn)!
