Image and Graphic Editing

The easiest and quickest way is by using the Background Color Picker on the floating toolbar.

At the very bottom of the toolbar, there are 2 color squares overlapping each other - the top is the foreground, the bottom is the background. Click on the background and use the eyedropper tool to pick the color you want, or enter the value in the boxes.

You can also set the default background color from the Preferences panel (Edit - Preferences).

depends on the program you are using. in ms Paint or Photoshop you can do Save As. and pick .gif (compuserve gif its sometimes called) from the file type menu. in Fireworks you can export it as a gif. Saving As likely wont save any animation if you're trying to do that, you'd have to export it as a gif animation(at least in fireworks)

I would say it depends on what you are wanting to edit but I would recommend most Adobe programmes the eg Premiere pro, Premiere Elements, Photoshop anything along those lines.

Select the text right after you type it, go to Layers > Text > Convert to Shape to create a vector outline.

Right+click on the Text tool and use Horizontal Text Mask to create a selection of the text you want to type.

This is much easier to do and work with in Illustrator.

GIF is a lossless compression introduced by CompuServe in 1987 using Lempel-Ziv-Welch (LZW) lossless data compression.

A filter is an effect that can be added to an image that affects the overall appearance, or apearance of a selected area, of an image.

The technique is called stop-motion animation. A number of still pictures are taken one at a time, and in between each frame the subject is moved slightly. The series of stills with the slight movements between frames becomes animated movement when the still frames are linked together. The so-called claymation productions use this technique, and it dates back well before those figures. Gumby and Wallace and Grommet are a couple more examples. digital (higher res): more pixels making the same image = larger image and larger file size. Even if the picture is re-sized by software, the file size does not change unless it is cropped or compressed. Compression usually lowers resolution.

b&w film (higher res): more grains of black metallic silver in the same size image. This is primarily accomplished by using slower ISO rated film. Not to be confused with acutance (sharpness due to developer/development).

color film: same as b&w except bms is replaced by dye "spots".

First of all, Pantone is the brand name of an organization that released an international color standard. You are probably referring to the difference between spot colors and CMYK since most artists are referring to spot colors when referencing Pantone.


PANTONE
A Pantone Spot Color is a pre-mixed ink color that adheres strictly to the international standard for that color. Ink manufacturers cater these inks to exact specs and send them to printing companies on-demand. The press operators can then drop the custom ink into the press and out comes the color.


CMYK
The most common form of printing uses 4 ink colors arranged in an intricate pattern of dots to generate colorful images. If you open up your inkjet printer you should be able to see those same colors on your ink cartridges. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black; otherwise referred to as CMYK. These are called process colors and are often seen in commercial printing. For most print applications, this form of printing is sufficient. However, there are limitations. 1) The color gamut is relatively narrow in certain areas such as blue and fluorescent colors. 2) If a precise color needs to be matched, the printer would opt for a spot color. 3) Lighter colors such as gray will show the dots when viewed up close. A spot color can print 100% solid.

Photoshop can not save vector image but you can work with vector shapes inside Photoshop. There are many similarities, you can add elements to image like type, shape, change color... big difference is that you can not enlarge bitmap image without losing quality.

i have the same question! :d..i don't think OS because i have always thought of it as a representation of an actual image the could "illustrate" or give an idea of what the actual image or object is. Illustrate sounds like shedding light....originated from lustre?

GIMP is an open-source program for use in editing and manipulating photos, much like Photoshop. Because it is open-source, it is free. You can download it from their website at http://www.gimp.org/.

with corel draw you can output in all common formats

You can edit photography. You can create your own images. It looks more professional than using other software. There are a lot more visual tools to use. You can combine imagery and text together.

What is TPX or TCX no.

It's very rare as a graphic designer to have any potential for advancement. I'm not trying to bum you out or turn you off from this field. I love this field. But if you're not working for someone like a magazine company that puts out seven or eight titles, a big daily newspaper or a large advertising agency, you're going to be the only graphic designer in the company. Hence, there's no potential for advancement because there's nowhere for you to advance to. If you're working for a big agency or a magazine company you could get promoted to art director or creative director, and a newspaper will have a design supervisor. In most cases, though, you're all there is. The other way to look at this is, you start out at the top in graphic design.
You can climb up the ladder and become Art Director or Design Director, but often Graphic Designers start their own businesses as a move up.
