What motivations caused Portugal's gain interest in colonizing Brazil?
Countries like Portugal and Spain at that time, were seeking all the time for new lands in order to find treasures, mainly gold. They also used slaves to cultivate and mining those new territories and sent gold, precious stones and grains, fruits and specialties from the crops, to their countries. The main reason obviously was to become richer, and more important to the other countries.

What were three effects of European imperialism on Africa?
Economic and strategic status of the"colonizing"government, who economically speaking, forcibly acquired land, labour, capital and other resources from its conquest and strategically speaking, gains an involuntarily"ally".
Social Disarray:
When Europe colonized Africa, the African continent was forced to recognize invisible cultural boundaries that it had not been exposed to before. European settlers moved in to various parts of the country and created a dominant minority. Sometimes people within tribes would attempt to make it seem as if they had a legitimate reason to rule or be in a position of power when they did not. This caused cultural disarray. Also, different tribes and members of different countries were forced together when the Europeans carved up Africa using these invisible boundaries. Again, this caused social disarray.
Loss of tribal identity:
Many tribes were forced to learn just enough European schooling and culture to be 'civilized' in the eyes of the Europeans. In doing this, many African tribes lost their tribal identity ie their customs, belief systems, etc because the children of the tribe grew up knowing only what they had learned from the Europeans.
Slavery:
In some parts of Africa, Europeans would turn local Africans into slaves to work on plantation like pieces of land. Many tribal leaders became corrupt and would sell their own people into slavery to protect themselves. Others would sign treaties without understanding what they were giving up (their freedom).
What was the main belief of the Anti-Imperialist Legue?
The main belief of the Anti-Imperialist League was that imperialism was fundamentally incompatible with American democratic ideals and principles. They argued that it violated the core tenets of self-determination and consent of the governed by imposing control over other nations and peoples. The League opposed the annexation of territories like the Philippines following the Spanish-American War, advocating instead for the respect of the sovereignty of other nations. Members believed that imperialism would lead to moral and political decline for the United States.
Why did china colonize Vietnam thousand of years ago?
so they can have more taxes and it's good to have bigger country right?
Why did France colonize Vietnam?
Because France wanted to trade with inner china. Ghey wanted to take Vietnam, because they thought that they could get to China through there, but they realized that they couldn't after the colonization was already complete. This was due to very high waterfalls.
France also wanted rubber, which was made by burning the sap from rubber trees found in Vietnam. At first they traded with the Vietnamese, but then this was an extra incentive, besides the route to china, to colonize Vietnam.
France also used social darwinism. Charles Darwin wrote a book called "origins of species", which promoted a theory called "survival of the fittest." The Europeans then decided that the most "fit" nations should rule the other "unfit" ones, which is what France decided to do with Vietnam. this craze which swept across Europe is known as "social darwinism."
France also thought that they were doing Vietnam a favor.
Europeans colonized in pursuit of (1) more wealth, (2) more land, (3) more prestige vis-à-vis its neighbors, and (4) converting more people to the "proper" religion.
Why does fawaz turki refer to the israelis as colonizers?
According to those who believe like Fawaz Turki, the entire idea of Israel is a modern colony in the Middle East. Prior to 1900, less than 10% of the population of what would become Mandatory Palestine was Jewish and the Fellahin or Settled Arabs were the majority. There were also a large percentage of Turks, Circassians, Bedouin, and Druze, but the Settled Arabs were still the majority. Zionist Jews or those Jews who desired to create a Jewish State cleverly manipulated the Great Powers, especially the United Kingdom into giving them the right to immigrate to Mandatory Palestine in large numbers without consulting the rights of the Fellahin. Additionally, Zionist Jews purchased large swaths of land from Turkish nobility without consulting the Fellahin who lived on that land for centuries but did not properly own it. As a result, numerous Fellahin were forced off of their land during the Yishuv period, Yishuv being the word for a Zionist Jewish settlement in Mandatory Palestine. The Jewish population in Palestine continued to rise until 1939 when the Fellahin successfully petitioned the British government to close off Jewish immigration.
However, the Jewish minority had grown sufficiently large in Mandatory Palestine that this combined with the Holocaust was able to earn international sympathy for the Zionist cause of establishing a State for the Jews in a land where the Jewish population had literally "just" shown up. Compare this to Rhodesia which was a state that declared independence to be ruled by the White Settlers of Rhodesia in 1960 that had been on that land. Rhodesia was so vilified in the international community that in only 20 years, it reverted to become the African nation of Zimbabwe. However, in that case, the White Settlers had come to Rhodesia as early as 1860, which makes them far more "local" than the Zionist Jews in Palestine in 1948 (most of whom were in the country for less than 30 years). The attempt by the Yishuv to form a state could not be tolerated and the Arabs formed militias to prevent the Yishuv from asserting control over land that had been historically settled by the Arab people. As a result, war broke out between the Zionist Haganah, Palmach, Irgun, and Lehi militias and the Fellahin, represented by the Holy War Army and the Arab Liberation Army. The neighboring Arab countries joined in when the Yishuv declared independence as Israel to help to the Arab militias. Subsequent to Israeli Independence, there was the eventual Occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip which further reduced and minimized the power and presence of the Fellahin through numerous acts, such as the Settlements which are Israeli colonies in the West Bank and, formerly, the Gaza Strip.
yes
Did Turkish colonization affect Greece?
No , the only things we the Greek inspired from Turks are a few types of music , a few foods (e.g. kebab, baklava) and a surname that ends in "oglu" in turkish and "oglou" in Greek. Most Turks actually are Greek muslims. the 3/4 of the Ottoman that invaded and destroyed the Byzantine empire were Greek muslims. We also didn't mix with them because we are Christians.
