Absolutely. In fact, I would argue that you can become 'addicted' to almost anything. Gambling, drinking, smoking, and drug-use are only seen as real addictions because (and this is always open to opinion) they're 'bad'. But who says you can't become just as obsessed with/afflicted by a constant need to tell your thoughts online? Chat rooms are frequently populated by unmonitored children and teens and are the ideal hunting ground for pedophiles to seek out those who might be emotionally susceptible to their advances. Chat rooms provide a cloak of anonymity that allows the predator to pose as someone who is friendly to children and their emotional needs. This same anonymity encourages some children to expose personal details about themselves that they would never reveal to a stranger in person. Once the child and predator have been brought together in this fashion, the predator need only employ the tried and true grooming techniques of fostering an emotional bond with his victim to be exploited.

Also, in the realm of psychology, we are interested in how people interact. Due to technology we have even more options for interaction than we did before. If anything it only gives more for psychologist to study.

Is that a question? The answer is yes to both advantages and disadvantages. If you are using the net to research a subject, you have to always consider the source. Much information is skewed to the product or agenda of that source. That has been my struggle when attempting to find objective, honest information. But there are so many other things happening with the net. It is impossible to address without your being more specific.
