How do you remove front signal light lens on 2002 Isuzu trooper?
On the Signal Assembly there is only ONE screw which is right on top, near the headlight. It looks like a little arm sticking out, unscrew it.
Now, on the passenger's side signal assembly, pull from <----RIGHT to LEFT gently in between the crack of the Headlight and the Signal Assembly. In other words, pulling opposite from the 'Isuzu Logo". Apply force slowly and as necessary. It will pop out!!
You will see the Signal Assembly is held into place by two separate plastic prongs that fit snugly into small holes. :)
dont do it. on my 2001 it sounds obnoxious and it will not run right due to isuzu's over-engineering on these vehicles.
I had a similar problem on my 91 Trooper where the engine just died on the highway and it wouldn't restart but it would pop and backfire sometimes.
The rotor in the distributor is held by a screw and it fell out so the distributor shaft was spinning but not allowing it to fire on any cylinders except very randomly.
It was the last thing I thought of and didn't learn this till I had the truck home.
Can't hurt to check and should only take you a minute or two.
AnswerSame thing happened to me with my 1993 Trooper, i had the timing chain replaced because it was extremely corroded and it fired right up. hope it helps. How do you replace a fuel filter in Isuzu fuel filter?
I have a 92 Trooper and my fuel filter is located on the frame rail, passenger side of the car near the rear tire. Just clamp off the lines on boh sides of the fuel filter so fuel doesn't go all over the place then remove the one bolt holding the fuel filter in place. Remove the fuel lines and put your new filter in place. Attach the fule lines, bolt the filter back in place and remove the clamps. I hope that helps.
How do you replace a 2002 Isuzu Trooper headlamp?
This is the same answer I found athttp://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_change_the_headlight_on_a_1998_Isuzu_Trooper and it worked for me. The important thing is that you realize that even though you press on the white plastic tab, you usually need a screwdriver to pry out or release the old bulb. I didn't "press up on the black tab", but I pressed down on the black tab by inserting the screw driver from the bulb side and pried the white assembly up and away from the bulb base. Once they separated, the bulb fell right out. There is not much room to operate on the battery side of the hood.
1) Open the hood. You replace the lamp from the inside. DON'T start unscrewing the headlight from the outside. There is not a lot of room to work with so it helps to have small hands. Make sure you have plenty of light as well. You will also need a small flat bladed screwdriver
2) There is a white plastic locking ring that holds the bulb assembly inside the headlight. Reach in and unscrew it. The assembly should now come out of the headlight.
3) This is the hard part. Look for a white plastic tab on the assembly. Theroretically you should be able to press down on the part of the tab closest to the base (where the wires come out) but you will need some extra help with from the screwdriver. Press down on the tab hard with your thumb and insert the screwdriver into the exposed slot closest to the base. Pry out the old bulb with the screwdriver by pressing up on the black tab that is part of the bulb base. Be careful not to lose the locking ring. The bulb is the only thing holding it in.
4) Put the new bulb into the locking ring.
5) Plug the bulb and ring into the assembly WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BULB!!
6) Insert back into the headlight and screw the locking ring back in place.

How do you Replace timing belt in 1986 Isuzu Trooper?
Im in the process of doing this right now. Alot more than i had anticipated.
The toughest thing you will come up against is removing the crankshaft pulley bolt. It is a 24mm. I tried everything possible for over 5 hours before resorting to the "starter" method. I broke 1 breaker bar, shattered 1 6pt socket, bent a 4 ft long torque bar... The bolt is a standard regular threaded bolt. Righty tighty..lefty loosy!! I used a breaker bar with a cut off handle (via my grinder) which left about 13+ inches. Put the 24mm air wrench socket on the bolt head with a 4 inch extension stickin out. Then attach the 13" breaker bar and set it at around 10 Oclock from the front of the engine... The engine turns clockwise when the starter is engaged. When you crank the starter the bar will turn about 110 degrees and "smack" into the frame that sits below the radiator. The sound is horrific! But, it actually worked on the third attempt. I tried every way possible to avoid doing it this way cause it just sounded so stupid. But it worked! So i have to recommend it. The factory manual method will just keep turning the engine over even when youre in 5th with the ebrake on and blocks on each wheel.

Why would the wiper fuse on a 1990 Isuzu Trooper repeatedly burn out?
It does NOT matter that the fuse which keeps "burning out" is in a 1990 IsuzuTrooper!!!!!!!!!! This question, and ALL others like it, should be worded the SAME: WHY DOES A FUSE BURN OUT? A fuse is a FUSE, and it doesn't matter whether it's in a toy, a particular vehicle, or a house. IF an electrical circuit REPEATEDLY causes fuses to "blow out", that is a POSITIVE indication that something is VERY WRONG, probably a SHORT SOMEWHERE in the circuit. By purpose and design, it it not 'normal' for fuses to burn / blow out, and when that happens, the occurence is the result of something gone wrong, either a short, or an overload condition. When the fuse burns out, it is doing what it was supposed to do. By burning out, it stops the flow of electrical current in the circuit wiring, thus preventing serious damage and/or a fire! When a fuse burns out, the fuse is NOT the problem, and the proper "fix" IS NOT the simple replacement of the fuse. The blown fuse is an INDICATOR of a serious problem, a short or overload, which MUST BE CORRECTED BEFORE replacing the fuse. The proper fix is to: [1] FIND the FAULT in the wiring circuit which is CAUSING the fuse to blow. [2] REPAIR OR CORRECT THE FAULT. [3] THEN replace the buned out fuse.

How do you replace a 1988 Trooper windshield?
Remarkably easy. get inside and push the rubber gasket out around the edges with your fingers (easiest when it's more than 70 degrees fahrenheit) - it may take a bit of prying with a small flat-head screwdriver to get the very first of it to start pushing through, but once you get started it works around easily with fingers. After pushing the windsheld out, carefully remove the gasket from the old one to avoid damaging it, unless you do not plan to re-use gasket. If you are re-using the gasket, clean the inner and outer grooves of it with a mild gentle soapy water and then install it around the outside of the new windshield. Now, find a long piece of small cotton string just big enough to fit in the groove around the windshield gasket and get some Elmers Glue or equivalent all purpose nontoxic water soluable glue. Mix the glue half-and-half with water, soak the string in it, and then push the string down into the outer groove all the way around the windshield gasket. Leave the 2 ends hanging loose near each other, at the top of the windshield. The glue and friction should hold the rope in place. While the glue is still fresh and wet, set the bottom of the windshield and gasket into place at the base of the windshield opening in the vehicle and ensure that both corners at the bottom are properly set into the inside of the cabin. Lean the windshield toward the vehicle roof and then go inside the cab. Pull the rope ends inside and if you are careful you can begin to pull the lip of the rubber gasket inside with the rope... just the right pull and angle will cause the lip to come inside the cab, holding the windshield in place as well. You may run into some tight parts near the bottom, but they are not hard to pry with your fingers as long as the weather is warm. After it's all in place, pull the rope out the rest of the way (this will be somewhat difficult from the bottom but not horrible) and you are finished. It can be done by a first-timer in under an hour with minimal effort.

Where do you add Transmission Fluid to a 1999 Isuzu Trooper?
I know very little about any of this, however I just bought a 1999 Trooper and asked my mechanic exactly this question. Unfortunately, he told me that it has to be checked under the vehicle.
AnswerGo down to where do you pour trans. fluid in a 1996 Isuzu rodeo in this forum AnswerWell let me add my 2 cents. If the vehicle has an automatic transmission, there will be a transmission dipstick tube probably on the left hand side of the engine bay. It would look like an oil dip stick set up.
If the vehicle has a manual transmission (stick shift) than those are filled by removing a bolt from the side of the transmission, putting your finger in to check the levels.
Answer1999 Isuzu Troopers w/automatic transmissions do not come with a dipstick. It is a sealed transmission just like a manual transmission. The fluid must be checked by removing the fill plug. Emergency brake on, engine running, warmed up ,vehicle in neutral. When removing the fill plug ,which is on the side of transmission- at the top, fluid should slightly drip out. If fluid doesnt drip out you need to add fluid. You will need a small hand pump to fill it.Is the 1988 Isuzu Trooper 2.6 an interference engine?
2.6 Isuzu engine is not an interference engine; in other words, if the timing belt breaks or cam gear locating pin shears, the valves will not collide with the pistons
98 Isuzu trooper egr error code will not go away.check engine light comes on and off?
The engine light on most vehicles that goes on & off, ususally means a "CODE". Like flashes 2 or 3 times then 1, 2 or 3 then 1. Some times multiple codes 3 then 1 at start up and after running a while (warm up) maybe 2 then 1 or 2 then 2 the pause etc.
These numbers above are only examples not real #. I only know this because my 89 pup had a code of 2 then 1 at start up and 6 then 1 after warm up. I am still attempting to find a dealer who will tell me what they mean. I believe on "MINE" the 6-1 is to do with the air flow/sensor.
I am still looking for a "List of error codes" which may be different from the little testers vs the # of blinks.
