I had one like it back in the mid-80's and had to sell it to pay some bills. I wish I had it back. It was beautiful, with a nickel receiver. Do you still have it? send me some pics! lemont2@veriizon.net
its an adanac made by the feg factory
Luckily, Iver Johnson made mostly 8-shot revolvers. The 'Supershot 9' was made from 1929 - 1949, so figuring yours at the early range of that is reasonable. sales@countrygunsmith.net
Iver Johnson is most often associated with the HERCULES trade name. sales@countrygunsmith.net *If that statement marked on the gun actually says "barrel and lug forged in one piece" it is a Stevens. If it says "barrel and lug forged in one" (exactly the same except no "piece") it is by Iver Johnson Arms and Cycle Works.
Try Cornell Publications. They have some books on the company that might help
Approximately 640,000 of these little bolt action .22's were made between 1902 and 1931. Like many inexpensive .22's, they were not serial-numbered, so there is no way to know precisely what year yours was made. They had a gumwood stock and no buttplate, and sold for $6. If yours is in good condition, its value would be in the $200 to $300 range.
What is the age and value of an Iver Johnson 55-A target revolver serial H88374?
1970's, with value depending on condition and topping out at $175 or so. sales@countrygunsmith.net The first course of action to discern the value of a gun is to identify the make, model, manufacturing date, variation and condition. The book "Iver-Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Firearms 1871-1993" by W. Goforth, may help accomplish this. Then it's a simple matter of looking your gun up in one of the many firearm value books, such as the Blue Book of Gun Values, or the Standard Catalog of Firearms.
Iver Johnson began making top break revolvers in about 1871. The "Owl's Head" was their logo. We cannot give you a date, as a serial number was not unique to only one firearm- it would depend on the model. Value is based on exact make, model and condition (you only gave us the make). Value of average specimens is usually modest, around $75-150, depending again on condition and model. Some were made for black powder cartridges, and should not be fired with modern smokeless ammo.
take it to a gunsmith dummy :)
I have one of these also. Mine needs some work on it. Does anybody know who fixes these pistols? The cylinder does not line up with the barrel. Thank you. Alan Johnston Surprise, AZ
I have number 31
Where can you get history on a US Revolver Co handgun?
These guns were manufactured by Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Company. You might check your local library for any reference books on that company.
Where could someone buy an Iver Johnson 30 cal carbine?
They were made from 1985 to 1993, so you might still find one in the used gun rack at your local gun shop, at a gun show, or at an auction (local or internet).
the Hopkins and Allen break open revolvers are black powder shooters. they date back to the late 1890's up to early 1900's. I believe your pat. date should read 1885, not 1985 ????? you should not fire modern ammo out of these old timers.
They were made in 22cal. 32 cal and 38 S&W caliber. 38 S&W cal. is NOT a 38 special, but rather a shorter case.
Who owned Kessler Arms Corp and who manufactured their shotguns?

What is the age and value of Iver Johnson 32 caliber 5-shot revolver serial 50705?

Name used by the Iver Johnson Company from 1910-1935 for lesser quality revolvers made by their company.
Probably, but it may refer to the patent for some minor improvement. It will not add any value.
What is the value of a Western Field Model 128 FR 12 gauge bolt action?
Westernfield was the brand name sold by Montgomery Wards Department Stores but made by contract from other gun makers. Your model was made by Kessler who offered their own model 128FR. It is probably the same gun.
Depending on condition, one can be had for about $100.00

No, the TT 30/ TT 33 is made by the Russians at around WW2

I'm not an expert on I.J.'s, I'm here looking for answers myself, but to my knowledge, older doubles and o/u's didn't have ejectors unless it was a reputable name brand and would be a more expencive model. I can't prove it true, but this what I was told by a few local old timers, they have more experience then me, I don't have much choice too believe it until found wrong.
What breaktop revolvers were made in Chicopee Ma?
You posted this under the Iver Johnson topic and that company made a lot of revolvers in Fitchburg, which isn't far from Chicopee Falls. The only arms maker I find in Chicopee is Stevens, but I have no records of a Stevens revolver. Are you sure it is not a tip-up pistol?
