First remove the plastic screw under the front of the armrest by turning it 1/4 turn, then pull the armrest cap (top of the armrest) towards the rear of the car. There are two screw heads that are indexed in the cap to hold it on. Next remove the square black cover under the door latch with a small screw driver, pry it off from the slot - gently - hten remove the screw underneath. Remove the three screws holder the top of the lower panel in place. After you remove the crew under the door latch you can pull the wood vanier panel toward the front of the car to remove - it has two metal clips that slide into the dorr to hold it on. Now you just have to gently pry around the edge of the lower panel to release the clips holding the lower panel on and your done. Be careful as to not put a strain on any wiring until you disconnect it. Oh, the top panel is held on by two screws then lifted off the top of the window seal and off the door lock. That should do it!!

You can buy a Haynes Manual from Advance Auto Parts or many other parts stores. Manual number is 49010 and covers 1968-1986, series 1,2 and 3. It answers many of the questions asked in this site.

to change the shocks on the rear of the jaguar XJ-6, you need a spring compressor. compress the spring, loosen the top mount plate from under side of car. drop the axle as far as you can. undo the top mounting, then the lower. the car will have to be raised far enough to allow the shock to be removed and the replacement installed.

the fuel tank crossover valve is located in the trunk area in the spare tire well the easiest thing to do is to get a t fitting and remove the valve and install the fitting instead of replacing the valve

The fuel pump is located inside of the tank. The tank is located be hind the rear seat and is accessed through the trunk compartment after removing the lining panels. The panels are easy to take out because they are just slide ins. the tank it self is stapped in wth two bolts. The seal around the fueling spout appears like it will have to e removed also.

Turn the key to acc to allow the radio to come on, wait for it to display CODE, and then enter your 4 didgit radio code. If you make a mistake, turn the key off and on, and try again. If you make 5 mistakes, turn the key on to acc, wait 1 hour, and it will reset.

The harmonic balancer is definitely NOT a lifetime part and can and often delaminates so that it starts squealing on cold start even after 80K miles on some Jaguars

I just did this job The hardest part is getting the top bolt out to remove the starter. The only way I could do it was to remove the windshield wiper motor. Removal of the motor is hard but not impossible. That gave me enough room to get a long box-end wrench on the head of the bolt and turn it out. The rest of the job is pretty straitforward

the relay is located at the firewall behind the glove-box. the fuel pump relay

has a yellow socket. good luck !

its were you right knee would be when you are sitting in the driver seat, there is a small knob on that panel below the ignition key and slightly to the left.

open the trunk.Right where the gas cap is pull the carpet back to exspose the gas cap area you should see a buttom to manually open the gas cap

That's its way of trying to tell you that it's time to trade it in.

you have to take door panel off and ajust the arm that leads from the handel to the latch u need a 7mm and 8mm wrench

depends on the vehicle.....if its a domestic car the pump is not usually over $100 and usually a lot less ... on an Asian car they can run quite high...and depending on the car, they can take anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours to change. A domestic usually takes about an hour to change.

YES....All the Jaguar factory installed CD changers are compatable. They are made by Alpine but are labeled as Jaguar. So...if you need that little cable with the proprietary socket that might be missing from the replacement changer you can buy it at www.crutchfields.com (or any other auto audio store) rather than a Jag dealer. and save about $60.00. : the later Jaguars use a Ford type fitting for the CD Changers so on a 1999 V8 3.2 the CD changer is not a Din type , its the ford square plug type :

Jack the drivers side rear tire up, and look under and up toward the gas cap. You'll need a 10mm socket to loosen the clamp. Also a 17mm wrench to release the the fuel filter connections. Loosen one side and allow the pressure to release out, you'll have a little gas flow. Watch your eyes. Pretty basic, but you'll need effort and patience. Good Luck

My Valet switch looks like a Black rocker switch with Valet wrote on it.

Mine is in the arm rest, Cassette holder in my XJ6 1995 model , I do not know what it does though.
