Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

I had this problem and found and answer on the internet. Find your computer, mine is next to windshield wiper water bottle. Pull off the plastic cover than unplug the leads to computer. You will see two screws back them out one turn. That is it. Some how the cover is shorting the computer because the screws are to tight, Mine is a 1996 Cherokee Limited.

Yes, you just have to be sure that all connections are the same along with the sensors. If you need you can swap them with the ones from the old engine.

That can be caused by an number of reasons. The most common is a misfire or a multiple cylinder misfire. This can me caused from an internal oil leak into the spark plugs. You can go to an Auto Zone or any place like that and they can hook the Jeep up to a diagnostic machine to let you know what the code is. That will help you figure out where to start to fix the problem. If the light is flashing do not drive it because it is something more serious.

The 2003 Honda Element dashboard is held in place with six retaining bolts and eight retaining clips. Remove the retaining bolts and pry outward on each retaining clip.

The Jeep Cherokee has been produced from two different chassis. The first chassis was used from 1984-1994 model years. The second from 1995-2001 model years. Each of these two chassis require a different hitch because the mounting points on the chassis are different.

Listen at the hatch lid when open and you work the remote lock/unlock on your key ring. You should hear the noise of the locking motor working. It is located near the bottom of the hatch towards the drivers (left) side of the hatch. If you hear a noisy motor, you know the wiring etc is OK. Then your problem is probably a worn out motor or linkage. If all the passenger doors lock and unlock OK and if the hatch lock notor makes no noise when activated it may be a bad wiring connection or a bad motor. You'll have to take off the inner plastic cover from the hatch and check out the wiring/motor etc. If all the door locks and the hatch do not work then check the fuse for that circuit Hope this helps Dave S

I had similar problems on two different Jeep Grand Cherokees, an both cases corrected the problem by cleaning the air intake with Carburetor cleaner; Just remove the air intake hose and spray a can of cleaner down the throttle body and start the engine; that should do the trick.

There is no - repeat - no PCV on the 4.0 motor and many others in this year range. The crankcase ventilation system is actually the smaller plastic hose plugged at the rear of the valve cover leading to the intake manifold. It has a sized hole to control the amount of air it draws through the intake. Installing a PCV into the larger hose at front will pressurize the crankcase and blow the weakest gasket, causing oil leaks and a series of gasket and seal changes that never solve the problem. Do not install a PCV unless you know for a fact the factory put it there.

Torque settings are 110 ft LBS for nine of the ten bolts one bolt is 100 ft LBS /#1 Tighten all bolts in sequence 1 to 10 at 22 ft LBS #2 tighten all bolts 1 to 10 at 45 ft LBS #3 tighten all bolts 1 to 6 at 110 ft LBS #4 bolt #7 at 100 ft LBS #5 BOLT 8 TO 10 AT 110 FT LBS . HEAD TIGHTEN SEQUENCE - standing at front of car bolts down left side are 8/4/1/5/9 bolts down right side are 7/3/2/6/10. left side meaning distributor side. A four cylinder engine has ten (10) bolts. A six cylinder has fourteen (14) bolts.

I don't know about a Grand Cherokee, but in a 2005 Jeep Wrangler you turn your ignition 3 times with out turning the motor over. Turn your key to start, then off, then start, then off, then start and leave in start position, a code will be displayed in the odometer area. Maybe its the same for a Grand Cherokee.

If that doesn't work a scan tool is required.

Engine Coolant is probably coming out of a small hole on the bottom of your water pump. This usually means your seals are gone in the pump and that the pump should be replaced. This happened to my '93 Jeep Grand Cherokee on I-40 near Knoxville about 3 years ago.

NEW ADDITION: I am having the same problem with my 94 grand Cherokee today, we replaced the water pump and the problem still persists, there may be a hole in the radiator like mine.. just replace the radiator.. that's what im doing

I would suggest you invest in a repair manual. It cost around $12 at most auto parts stores, and will contain the info you need to complete this repair and many others. It will pay for itself with this one repair

I have a 99 JGCL and my problem was a small wire that connects near the front brakes. It was about 2 feet long if I remember correctly and was the abs sensor or something. It cost about forty dollars. If you go to Advanced Auto Parts they might diagnose it for you for free, and tell you if that is really your problem. Good Luck

The number needed should be in your manual, if not, remove the bulb & there should be a number on the base. When you go to a parts store, just look for the same number.

The rear seat releases are typically in the trunk under the speakers. Just give the knobs a pull and the seatback should release. If the middle seat belt is in the way, there is a release for the lower part on the assembly that if you insert a key it should come out and pull up out of the way.

The fuse box is located on the left side of the steering column, appr. in front of your left knee undre the dashboard. It will tell you where the fuse is located & the Amp that the fuse is...

As with most warning lights usually the first thing is to check the fluid levels, Check Lubrication of differentials and (Transfer Case) check your owners manual for type of lube usually 90 wt gear oil in differentials most use auto transmission fluid in Transfer Case.....Hope This Helps

There were several transmissions put into your Grand Cherokee and of course the model depends on whether its a manual shift or automatic.

You can find the part number stamped on the transmission itself if its an automatic. Look on the drivers side above the fluid pan gasket. On the manual its on a tag near the drain plug. The numbers will have the part number, build date and serial number and you can cross reference this number by calling the dealer.

There is an eyelet at one end, not a clip, how do I get that off. Should be clips at each end of struts- - slide them back and strut will come pop off of stationary pins I have a 1993 Jeep grand Cherokee i bought new struts from autozone about 20 bucks attached to the lift gate there are 2 screws and attached to the body by near the taillight there is a ball with a pin holding it on, pull the pin out then pull the strut off. the remove the screws attached to the lift gate. have a stick or something to hold up the lift gate when you are taking these off....

TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING Up to 4 Transmitter Identification Codes (TIC’s) can be programmed into receiver at any given time. 1) Open driver’s door of vehicle. Leave it open through the programming procedure. 2) Move mechanical door lock lever to the LOCK position. 3) Insert ignition key and turn it to RUN position. 4) Turn ignition to RUN position. Within 20 seconds, aim a transmitter at receiver dome and press lock button, for at least 5 seconds. Once receiver accepts programming code the driver’s door will unlock. 5) Once first transmitter has been programmed, additional transmitters (up to 4) may be programmed into receiver. Within 20 seconds of the previous transmitter programming, move the mechanical door lock lever to LOCK position. Aim another transmitter at receiver dome and press LOCK button for at least 5 seconds. The door lock will cycle again. 6) To lock the programmed codes into the receiver, the ignition must be turned off and back on within 20 seconds after programming the last transmitter’s code. At that time, all previous codes are erased from the module.

It's held by screws to the radiator mount. Don't try to run without it. You will overheat easily. Absolutely necessary,

There are four bolts. The left lower is very hard to access.

Talked to a mechanic and he said he DOES NOT remove the bolt. There is enough room to remove the old fan and install the new.
