How do I change the fan relay on Jeep 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
The fan relay is under the front bumper cover beneath the right headlight. This is a pulse width modulated relay controlled by the Powertrain Control Module. The heat sink side of this relay is bolted to the frame underneath the bumper cover. The factory service manual would have you remove the entire front bumper cover and grill. About a 2 hour operation for a dealer.
A quicker and less painful way is to remove the right headlight (remove one long bolt and pop the light assembly out). Then use a 2 inch hole saw to cut 2 overlapping holes (makes a figure 8) with the right edge of the holes down the right edge of the reinforcing groove of the composite structure under the headlight.
2009-07-26 All is correct; however, I was unsure were to cut, I used a flashlight & mirror to search for the relay behind the plastic portion of passenger side headlight cavity. The outside edge of the hole that you will need to cut starts about 3-4 inches from the outside edge of the cavity, this will make your center being about 7-8 inches from the edge. The relay is on a slope and you will need an elbow extension or will need to cut more plastic closer to the front of the vehicle - best of luck
What can cause 1994 Cherokee to misfire when hot runs fine when cold?
We have a 99 with the straight six engine that has done the same thing since almost new. After replacing many electrical parts the dealer tells us it is sticky valves. To cure this the head would have to be rebuilt. We have been adding a pint of Marvel Mystery Oil in the fuel tank and the engine oil with every oil change and it seems to do better.

Where is the temperature gauge sensor on a 1998 Jeep Cherokee inline six?
I know there is one on my 97 Cherokee on a radiator hose housing just in front of the cylinder head. (there are three coolant hoses going to the housing). I have been told there is another one on the radiator but i havent found it yet.
I was also looking for another sending unit, but the service manual for a 2000 Cherokee says that same ECT sensor on the thermostat housing also drives the coolant temp gauge, thru the pcm. I think earlier models had a separate coolant temperature sending unit on the cylinder head driver side rear.
What would cause a GFCI to go off?
If, by saying "go off", you mean that a gfci switches off the supply of electricity, the reason is that it has been made to do this whenever there is:
If any GFCI does not reset when you press its 'Reset' button then you will have to find out:
Only after a fault has been fixed will the GFCI reset when you press its 'Reset' button. Then all outlets and appliances connected to it will once again receive a supply of electricity.

Why won't the heater ac and defrost work for a 1992 caprice classic?
Probably a bad fan motor. Luckily, that is one of the easiest and cheapest things to fix on these cars. Open the hood and look by the windshield on the passenger side and there it is. Remove the screws, disconnect the wire and vent hose, and lift it out. The fan is attached so you have to transfer it to the new motor. Last one I bought was only $30 or so. VBdenny

Replace the crank shaft position sensor- located on the top right hand side of the bell housing. Very difficult to replace but it will do all you have described
Check to see if there is a fusible link in line with power to your starter solenoid. If you aren't sure disconnect your battery ( both cables, neg first ) and use an ohm meter to check for continuity in your main positive battery cable. Did you check to see if you battery will hold a charge? The easiest way to do this is take it to a parts store for a free test. If the battery fails the test it could have been damaged by a faulty voltage regulator. If you take your battery to the shop for a free test might as well take your alternator along at the same time.
