1995 jeep grand Cherokee Why does my alarm go off every time I unlock and open the driver side door I don't even have the fob for the alarm anymore because I never used it HELP?

I suspect that the security module has developed a defect which is causing the alarm malfunction on your vehicle. I had this happen to my 95 and as it got worse it also would shut the vehicle down completely at times too.

My fix, since I never used the alarm anyway, was to just simply unplug the Security Module black box from under the dash. That solved the problem completely and didnt affect any other system on the vehicle. You'll have to get down under the dash to find this box.....its about 4 inches by 3 by 2 and it does say Security Module on the outside.

I hope this works for you but for sure is the least expensive easiest fix that you can do.

Good luck !!!

Hi, I had this problem with my '93 and found that the problem was the worn switch or broken wiring in the door. Try using the key at the passenger door or (the only one that worked for me) the lift-gate door. Eventually, the best fix is to just get a replacement remote and program it to the vehicle. I hope this helps you.

Need a front driveshaft 1994 Grand Cherokee V8 5.2L Lost mine How do you find which size you need?

go to the wrecking yard and look for a 93-96 With the same engine and transfer case. You will find the transfer case model on a tag that is on the drivers side of the transfer case facing the rear near the rear drive line. more than likely it is a 249.

What might be the problem if your 1993 Jeep Cherokee won't start?

It could be your fuseable like if... If you have lost all power and your battery is fine you can try two things: one you can turn the ignition switch and them your transmission to neutral possition and try starting it then. if this works nothing is wrong with your transmission just a chip or wiering in it the cuts power to start. the other thing is to shake the cable that runs from the battery to the starter that might work. If you hear a click and hum, but no turning of the engine, then that's the starter. Knock on it lightly with a wrench (look for two large can-like things mounted next to each other under the Jeep, just in front of the passenger set.) This will work for now, but it should be replaced.

Where is the fuse for the back up lights in a 1994 Ford Ranger?

open the tailgate take out the light and look for a fuse or check your owners manual and your fuse box.

How do you open the fuse box in an 08 jeep grand Cherokee?

If you can't figure out how to open the box you should not be in there. Take this poor vehicle to the dealer and be prepared to tell the nice man why you're bringing it in.

How do you remove windshield wiper blades on a 2009 Jeep Cherokee?

The 2009 Jeep (Grand) Cherokee has the most common hook-end wiper arms on the front and a "slide pinch" rear wiper arm attachment. See sources and related links below for installation videos. Also, purchase the replacement blades first and there will be additional instructions/illustrations on the replacement packages. On front, locate and press the tab or button where the wiper blade is inserted into the hook of the wiper arm and pull wiper blade out of hook. You may have to rotate and flex the blade to make enough clearance for the hook to pass through. On rear, press the tabs and pull off arm.

Why does your 97 jeep grand Cherokee stall while driving sometimes or die when idling and doesnt always start on first try?

This is most common to be the Crankshaft Position Sensor, it is located on the top of the bell housing.

This is the fix. I have a 1996 Grand Cherokee (4.0L) with all the stalling problems that everyone else is having. My main problem seemed to be centered around the middle plug-in connection at the ECU. My son could wiggle the wires and duplicate the stalling. My son started by spraying electrical cleaner on the connections (No Luck). Tried the screw fix (No Luck). Changed fuel filters (No Luck). Tried stabilizing wires with zip ties (No Luck). Out of desperation and the fact that my son used a whole can of electrical contact cleaner trying to clean the terminals I told him to spray some brake cleaner on the terminals (Middle terminal from the ECU) and black gunk flowed out as the pins and female connecters were cleaned (They are bright and shinny now). Have not had any problems since. Looks like regular electrical contact cleaner is not strong enough for the job. Lets just hope that the brake cleaner doesn't eat my plastic connecters away.

Does the 2006 jeep grand Cherokee have an auxillary transmission cooler?

Typically Jeeps (or any other vehicles) don't have a tranny fluid cooler as factory equipment unless they are equipped with automatic transmission and a towing package of some kind. A quick and easy way to check would be to lift the hood and look at the front of the radiator. If your vehicle has the tranny cooler you'll see the smaller radiator for the transmission fluid mounted in front of the radiator....its a completely separate unit. If you don't see it then its not equipped with one because that is by far the most expensive part of the tranny cooler.

I'm sure you also have that info as part of your vin but I don't have the site handy that shows you what all those numbers mean. It IS available online somewhere though.

Good luck !!!

Where is the distributor located on a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

On the six cylinder it is on the passenger side of the engine. On the eight cylinder it is behind the intake manifold on the back of the engine.

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee cooling fan does not work?

I have a 2001 Gc, Radiator cooling fan didn't work. there is a control relay located under the front bumper cover below the passenger side headlite that had to be replaced. A BIG job unless you cheat. I watched the mechanic. He removed the headlite assembly, then cut a sq. hole in the bumper cover that is concealed by the headlite to get to the relay. Once replaced he used some epoxy to re-attach the piece of bumper he cut out. put the headlite back and I was on my way. He said it saved me a few hundred bucks in labor if he had done it the way Jeep outlines it. HOPE THIS HELPED YOU OUT J.A.D.

Where is the turn signal relay located on a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?

I have a 2000 Cherokee sport, and i found mine under the dash on the drivers side. I had to take the panel under the steering wheel off (plastic and metal), then i turned the turn signal on and listen for the relay, pinpointed where it was and replaced it. I do have to say that I was a little frustrated with the location. There is all kinds of room under the dash and they had to tuck it way in the top corner where i could barely get my hands in to replace it. Ultimately I think there will be a time when most people won't be able to work on their own cars. It'll be a sad day!

It's located above the fuse panel, below and to the left of the steering wheel. You'll need to remove the upper and lower dash trim around the steering wheel. In your service manual there should be a fuse and relay diagram, the one you're looking for is the "Flasher" unit. On my 99 Laredo it is at the very top of the unit (in a hard to reach space) third from the left. The relay is about twice the size of the other relays. Try jiggling it around before replacing, in my case it wasnt quite seated properly.

How do you shift into 4 wheel drive on a 1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo?

OK, So far I have found this information in my vehicle owners manual. There are illustrations which help explain what to do exactly. I am unsure if your transmission is manual or automatic. I recommend locating an owners manual for your vehicle to verify the correct way to engage 4 wheel drive for your specific vehicle or find a local mechanic to assist you in learning the proper technique. I would not want to mis-inform you.

What do you do if your Jeep Grand Cherokee will not start?

First check instrument panel to see if the SECURITY light is lit. If so, assume that something has triggered the anti-theft automatic motor cut-off. The easiest override is to use your key in the driver door and turn it RIGHT twice, and left once. Another contributor suggested the same procedure with the passenger door. If neither works, we tried a back-up plan and used two keys just in case...

First, we attached battery cables to insure power to the engine.. then attempted to start engine. Second person tried the key procedure on the driver door. It worked like a charm!

It's an ongoing problem with our 95 Jeep Orvis ed. ever since a professional battery outlet installed our new remote battery BACKWARDS and fried our electrical system. Always be very careful with those remotes. As for the non-start, if it's not the security cut-off, there are tons of other regular items to check, which I'll leave to others. Cheers!

How do you change brake light in Jeep Grand Cherokee?

1. Open hatch and remove the 2 hex screws on the side of the light.

2. This will loosen the light. It is still held in by the main wire and a push-in plastic tab. Pull the entire light assemble straight back. You have to pull fairly hard to pop the light out of the plastic tab. Don't pull too far out back (because of the main wire).

3. There are 3 bulbs in each side. Brake light is the top bulb. Turn counter-clockwise to unscrew. You can now replace the bulb.

4. You might as well replace all 3 bulbs. Good auto parts stores sell single bulbs for approx. $1.50 each. Reverse steps to reassemble.

Knock in the engine what can be wrong?

Several things could be causing that, but a typical "engine knock" usually signifies the need for a replacement engine, or a complete overhaul of the engine. I would recommend a replacement, and I would go with a Jasper product if you can. I work for an automotive repair shop, and we install dozens of them every year, and we have never had a single problem with them. They are definitely worth the money.

How do you fix the rattle sound coming from the rear end when ever you hit a bump in you 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Something is loose. Find the loose part. More than likely the exhaust system.

AnswerI also found that the jack and tire wrench on my 94 under the rear passenger seat were loose and making a noise. I wrapped them in a towel and restowed them and it solved the issue AnswerI found that on my 88 Cherokee that there is bump stops on the lift gate that will unscrew just a few turns to keep the rear lift gate from thumping. AnswerCheck to make sure the rear shocks are physically bolted tight. AnswerIf you have a tow package the removeable hitch has play and will rattle some AnswerI had a rattle problem... sounded like it was coming from below the passenger seat. Turned out being a weak exhaust bracket that bent on the passenger side of the transmission and the exhaust pipe was bouncing off a frame. the bracket slides into a rubber mount that is fixed to the tranny, and the other end is welded to the exhaust pipe. without cutting the bracket off, or replacing the exhaust, the only other option is to heat the bracket and bend it up to raise the exhaust pipe another 1/2". Fixed the Problem.
