1995 Pontica Grand Am with water all in the drivers floor board Is this a heater core?

Probably, although it might be a heater hose. You will have to access the core in either case. If it smells like anti freeze then you may have a leak. If it is water then check your windshield seal. I have seen water leak down through the window post to the floor.

Your beretta is overheating and you replaced the thermostat and the radiator fan works what else could it be?

it sounds like your water pump may not be working, to find out if it is, start your car, remove the radiator cap and look into the radiator. you should be able to see the fluid moving in the radiator. it sounds like your water pump may not be working, to find out if it is, start your car, remove the radiator cap and look into the radiator. you should be able to see the fluid moving in the radiator.if it is not m0oving your pump is bad

What would cause the drivers heated seat to suddenly not work when the passenger side does and all fuses are OK and the indicator switch says the seat is on?

I guess it could be the heating element in the seat. But i'd try tracing the wiring backwards from the seat if you can. Maybe something is just loose. Perhaps the indicator light is just stating that it's getting power at the switch and not at the actual heater. If you're electrically inclined, you might be able to find out some specs to check for resistance, and voltage at various points with a multimeter.

How can you tell if your freeze plugs have popped out on a 94 jeep Cherokee?

Your engine will overheat, rapidly if they have 'popped out' (on any vehicle, incidentally) because all the anti-freeze will leak out.

What is a VIC on 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?

The Vehicle Information Center. It is basically an electronic display located below the A/C controls and cigarette lighter (in your particular model) that shows when doors are open, low tire pressure, and the like. The soldering in these VIC units has been known to be of poor quality and problems with them are somewhat common.

What fuse control dash lights 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

If the 97 is set up like the 96, then the same 15 amp light blue fuse that controls the tail lights will also control the dash lights. On the 96 this fuse is # 17 in the fuse panel behind the battery.

What causes a front wheel to chatter in a slow tight turn on a 95 grand Cherokee with a quadratrac transfer case?

There is a part in the quadra trac transfer case called a viscous(spelling may be off) coupler that when working properly allows the front and rear wheels to spin at different speeds such as in hard turns. When this goes bad the wheels cant disengage so a tire has to kind of jerk and "hop" to keep up or slow down for the wheel moving at a different speed. To replace this coupler the transfer case has to be taken almost all the way apart (best done out of the vehicle) and a new coupler installed. The other option is to find a whole new transfer case. Either way, even doing it yourself isn't real cheap and i think a shop would charge quite a bit. There are other transfer cases that don't have this but unless you really really know what your doing i would not recommend a different model case.

If it is actually "chattering" like you say it may not be the transfer case. I'd check wheel bearings, ball joints, and the CV or U joints (whichever yours has) on the axle shafts (not the drive shaft). To check the bearings and ball joints jack up the on the axle and try and move the tire back and forth in the opposite directions that the wheel turns...so push in on the top and pull out on the bottom and back and forth. There should be absolutely no play here...even a little "chunk - chunk" back and form means something is worn out and needs to be replaced. In CV and U joints you should be able to see the play in them if you try and rotate the tire back and forth (again with the wheel off the ground). There is a little movement from the differential in the axle but there shouldn't be any in the axle joints. Hope this helps.

Where is the main fuse for a rover 214?

The main fuse is in the engine bay fuse box located near the battery. It is the largest rated fuse, usually 60 amp or 80 amp.

How do you disable the factory security system on a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Put the key in the driver side door and turn it. If yours is anything like mine, youll have to turn it again and again and again. If you are talking about disabling the alarm completely, the people at the Jeep dealership told me that it would be ridiculously expensive because theyd have to change the computer settings, blah blah. Was easier for me to disconnect the horn. :-)

Your 93 Grand Cherokee Limited shifts in and out of OD unless cruise control is off and then will not go into OD ideas?

I don't know the answer but it might help if you specify Chrysler or Toyota transmission. If you have a 6 cyl 93 Grand Cherokee without an overdrive button on the dash then its a Toyota transmission If you have the button it's a Chrysler unit. Good luck.

How do you detect a bad transmission?

You can detect a bad transmission using a diagnostic computer provided by the car's manufacturer or the car dealer. You can also detect this problem when the car fails to shift correctly or does not shift into a gear at all.

Where is the backup light switch located on a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport?

Look on the transmission, passengers side, about half of the way up.

It is a fan shaped switch with a big nut at the bottom.

The cost about $300 new so I suggest cleaning yours first.

Remove the adjusting bolt at the top of the switch, and the wire connector, then hold the bolt still while you remove the large nut at the bottom, the bolt is connected to the gear shift and can be broken if it is moved against it's will.

take the switch to a bench and remove the screws in the back, then separate the halfs, clean out the nasty grease inside, pay special attention to the sweeper arm with the two brass contacts, they have little springs under them and they often get stuck down, remove the two contacts and springs and clean it all out really well, reassemble with new di-electric grease and reinstall on your Jeep.

Have someone move the selector to R and check to see if the back up lights are on, if so hold in place and have them move it to park and try to start, if it does then lock it down by tightening the top bolt.

If not then rotate the switch until the lights come on, and perform the park procedure to ensure the switch is aligned.

$300 !? I bought my switch for $73.10 at NAPA and installed it myself. Follow the excellent instructions above for finding it and disconnecting the old one. Hope this info is helpful.

How do you replace a headlight bulb on a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited?

Ten minute job...

I replaced a low beam. This is part 9006XS not 9006. You must get the 9006XS as the other has a 90 degree turn on the socket and will not fit. I was told you could actually change the bulb and leave the socket, but I could not get the bulb loose. Part 9006XS is a bulb and socket together. Mine cost about $12 dollars. As far as I'm concerned it is worth it.

For this task you will need: Keys to the car, 7mm wrench, flat pry bar, flat head screwdriver, part 9006XS (not 9006).

You must pull the plastic headlight lens away (forward) from the car to get to the bulbs from the back of the assembly. Open the hood. Using a 7mm wrench or 7mm screwdriver take out the one bolt in the top center rear of the headlight assembly. The bolt goes vertically down through the back of the headlight assembly. Once out it will be about 6 inches long more or less. You will notice the headlight still feels firmly attached to the car. There are three ball sockets in the headlights that fit into rubber grommets holding the headlight onto the car. Facing the light you can hold it by the opposite corners and wiggle it out. When I tried this it wiggled but would not come out. So I used a flat pry bar on the back of the headlight and gently pushed it forward a bit (in the direction the headlights shine). Do not push too hard or you will break the plastic housing on the light and it is very expensive. I got only one of the sockets loose and was able to pull the assembly out after that. Be careful not to pinch your fingers between the headlight and the grill or the headlight and the body on the other side when pulling it out. The headlight assembly only comes out about 10 inches or so, but you can rotate it so that the back of the bulbs are removable. The bulb and socket assembly was what I changed (part 9006XS remember). If you twist the socket you will notice little tabs that must be aligned with the headlight assembly frame to pull it out. Rotate it till it is in alignment and pull it. You now have the wire, socket and bulb in your hand. Using a flat screwdriver gently pry the tabs up where the plug from the wire clasps over the socket. Don't pry too hard or you will break the tabs. Once out simply plug in your replacement part 9006XS, reinsert the socket into the headlight assembly and push the head light assembly back into place. Test your headlights at this point. When you push the headlight assembly back into place you must align the 3 ball sockets with the rubber grommets and push straight back into the vehicle. Also make sure the tab for the screw is in the right position or the headlight will not go back into place. Replace your 6 inch screw with the 7mm wrench.

How do you put a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo in 4 wheel drive?

Pull the lever that is just left of the shifter. If your vehicle is not going into 4WD then you should make sure all tires have the same tread depth and that your transfercase has fluid in it.
