How do you reset a Lexus key?

The answer depends upon which ECU your vehicle has.

One ECU type ( 32 bit ) is programmed via the OBD-II port, and ECU RESET, KEYS DELETED, KEYS ADDED etc. Locksmiths will have one of 3 diagnostic tools necessary for this task, along with the needed RFID chip keys.

The other type ( 16 bit ) has no OBD-II Path to the security modes on the ECU and must be REFLASHED. IT need not be replaced due to lost keys. If you STILL HAVE A MASTER KEY, the programming of additional keys one one of the two types is done on-board, and without diagnostic equipment.

SOME dealerships will do the reflash on the 16 bit ECU, but many will tell you you MUST buy a new ECU.

A good locksmith can do the job efficiently, often onsite, with more options than a dealer might offer.

Lexus ls 400 trac light is on what could be the problem?

More than likely, its probably the oxygen sensor. The best way to determine why the light is on is to read the diagnostic code. There is a procedure to get the engine "Check" light to flash the diagnostic code; or you could take it to a dealer for them to read the code.

By the way, the oxygen sensors should be replace every 70,000 miles.

My son has a 1996 Lexus es 300 and the check engine light is on you took it to AutoZone they said the code read p0773 shift solenoid e electrical. What is cheapest route to fix this?

The cheapest route is to go to take it to a transmission shop or dealer and have the shift solonoid replaced. The shift solenoid is an internal transmission part, so the transmission has to come out for the repair. So unless you've got mad mechanical skills, this isn't something you want to tackle yourself. This repair will run (in my city) from $500 to $1000.

Wrong! 1994 -1996 Lexus ES300 1-2 shift solenoids are replaced by moving the transmission pan. You do not need to remove the transmission! 1 and 2 are wired together. You should replace the filter and the gasket since you have the pan cover removed. And unless you want to get bent over, don't take it to a local transmission shop or dealer. Find a mechanic who has transmission experience if you want to save at least half.

Where is the thermostat on a 2003 es300?

On a 2003 Lexus ES300, the thermostat is located in the engine compartment, specifically on the engine block near the water pump. To access it, you typically need to remove the engine cover and possibly the air intake duct. The thermostat is housed in a housing that is secured by bolts, and it is connected to the cooling system hoses. Make sure to drain the coolant before attempting to replace the thermostat.
