No if the service has been done these are excellent cars until long after 100K have you not seen the Toyota commercial with the little pickups? some had way over 200K and still working like champs. Lexus are Toyota products and we can expect the same from them. My RX 300 has over 104K and BB was still like 8K I call that value!

Bad battery or alternator, or simply ran out of gas

I just replaced the timing belt on a 2003 Lexus ES300 at the Toyota dealership and paid hundreds less than what the Lexus dealership or other shops I got quotes from wanted. It was less than $400.00 for the timing belt only... I had them check the water pump which the other quotes included in their estimates and which I couldn't afford at this time. If the serpentine belt would have needed replaced, it would have been an additional $40.00. This was in Centennial, Colorado (close to Denver).

I don't have an answer for you, but I have a '94 GS300 and the trac light was coming on. I just got the 75K mile service done and they said the error code pointed to TPS and GPS (I think?). They changed both sensors. The light still comes on as follows: If I turn the key to accessories (where radio turns on) and wait a few seconds and then start the car, the TRAC light will stay on. If I turn the key all the way from off to start (without pausing at accessory position), the TRAC light does not come on. I am taking my car back today to have them look at it again. The most probable reason is that the rings are starting to wear. An engine which develops its horsepower at high revolutions per minute will cause the oil to break down very quickly. Oil that does not look dirty can be shot, because it no longer has lubricating abilities. For smaller engines, an oil change no less frequently than every 3,000 miles is imperative, if you want the engine to last. Unless, of course, you are using a synthetic oil, which has a much different lifespan. That varies from one manufacturer to another, so check with them.

yes they do... use dexron 3 friendly atf in your lexus power steering only... do not use power steering fluid!!! or you will be buying a new pump and rack and pinion... not to mention corroded hoses...

Struts are crucial for suspension. Its noted that these cars have noisy front struts which do not necessarily have to be replaced. However, struts that have seen better days can further damage your tires, wheels, and the rest of your suspension. Get it done.

It is important to note here that suspension noise - front or rear - is perhaps the Achilles heal of these other-wise very dependable Toyotas. Many a wrench - myself included - has erred on noise diagnosis with Toyota and Lexus cars. In regard to your particular question, I wonder if 'wheel' or instead 'strut' bearings were recommended. A strut bearing, or mount, along with struts themselves are often the cause of suspension noise. I can count on both hands the number of wheel hubs(bearings) we've replaced on cars. But noise is also caused by worn sway links and bushings, loose mounting bolts, loose trunk fixtures, loose inner wheel well panels, loose upper strut nuts and loose alignment adjustment(rear) bolts. I imagine I've missed a few.

Most Toy techs will acknowledge suspension noise as one of, if not the biggest source of complaint. An experienced mechanic will know this list of potential noise-makers, tell you that it may very well involve a process of elimination, and start at the low/more affordable end - bolts, trunk, sway link bushings. They should also be able to determine if their recommendation is a safety-related issue.

I would unplug the battery. This will reset your clock, etc., but it should turn the light off.

This light of course is used to indicate a problem with the braking system. Depending on its sensitivity, it could simply mean that your break pads are wearing thin, you can check this by removing your front tire and checking the condition, thickness of the pads on either side. they should for optimal stopping capabilities, be about 3/8 to 3/4 of an inch thick, any thinner would indicate that they should be replaced soon. otherwise, this light coming on could be something that will need your immediate attention, for example, checking the brake fluid in your master cylinder. there will be a line which will indicate the proper fluid level. if your fluid is down even a very little bit, you could either have a leak in your brake line, or your master cylinder may be failing. these two possiblities are dangerous and need to be corrected as soon as possible. But before taking your car to the shop refill the master cylinder with brake fluid, if it is low, and drive the car carefully for one or two days and re-check the fluid, if you find that it is down again, the vehicle needs servicing. you may want to periodically look under your car, where you park, near the inside of all four wheels to see if your brake lines have a possible leak. Most likely you need an oil change. That light comes on every 5000 or 7500 miles.

In the ES250 model, the fuses are located in 2 primary places. In the engine compartment, on the drivers side, along the top outside wall, in a black compartment. Just pop open the snap on hinge to gain access to these fuses. Secondly, inside the car, drivers side floor panel area. Remove panel door to access these fuses.

If you open the hood and look behind the bulb assembly you will see two sets of wires going to the back of the bulb. the outer ones are the low beams the inner ones are the high. Push the locking clip on the wire connector and pull off the plug. Then take the bulb and turn it about 1/3 a turn and pull it out. If you look close you will see the openining where the bulb will slip through. Do not tuch the new bulb with your hands the oil will reduce the life of the bulb. Should cost about $10.00 for one low beam. I removed the window washer reservoir to access the passenger side bulb. That is only 2-10 mm screws. Just pull it up and out of the way. Good luck

I would assume that the car is not getting enough gas to the engine when at idle. Is it try to cut-off when at a stop. Check the fuel fliter, maybe put better gas into the car (mid-grade) or better.

There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.

Petrol. Gasoline. Regular Unleaded. Call it what you will, it's just a normal internal combustion engine.
