I had a 98 dodge neon that did the same thing. all I did for it was replaced to coil pack spark plug wires an spark plugs. when replacing spark plugs keep in mind that if its a dual overhead cam you must use platinum spark plugs or they will fould down alot quicker. and keep in mind the firing order must stay the same too.

1 and 3/4 gallons ( or less ) on level ground Of course the fuel in the fuel tank cools the electric fuel pump and keeps it from overheating , so its best not to go below 1/4 tank on the fuel gauge

there is a tag on the driver side door sill that should state that info

I cannot think of any reason for a clicking noise in the driver's side interior, but a fuel pump would not be my first thought, or my second thought, or any thought for that matter. The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank, and a fuel pump, if it gives you any warning, it will usually be a humming noise from the underside area where the fuel tank is, not a clicking noise in the interior. Even the fuel pump relay isn't in the passenger's compartment, it is under the hood.

On my 2000 Mountaineer, One side is accessibly from top. Other side, take off wheel. take off mud covers and access was easy. Not sure if this will be helpful on 97.

It didn't come with a cabin filter.

It should be located on the data plate, that is located on the drivers door jamb - also will list tire sizes, VIN, max load capacity ect....

The ABS sensor on a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer with AWD is in the front wheel bearing hub assembly. To access this sensor you must remove the wheel and tire, then remove the brake caliper and rotor. The sensor is attached to the hub assembly by a small socket head cap screw. The end is plastic and the wire is routed allong the brake line and attached with various wire looms. Be carefull when removing the sensor. Often the plastic is brittle and will break, making the remaining part quite difficult to remove. Often an ABS light on is an indication of a failing wheel bearing. Basically, if this is the case, replace both bearings and both sensors. If one is failing, the other will go bad within the next few thousand miles. Diagnosing a bad sensor is a 50% chance on getting the right one.

I had the same problem on my 2002 Ford Explorer, after I replaced the gas cap the light turned off

I'm having a hard time also the doors have child protections lock on them.

go to the dealer with your VIN and proof of ownwership they give it to you...

On the '02 model it is located under the big plastic trim behind the passenger back seat . The is a small black box with numbers on a label on top. If still not sure e-mail me at utterback@hfi-inc.com and I will walk you thru it. It took me 2 days of looking before I had the right one!!!

The IAT sensor on a 2004 Dodge Stratus 2.4L is located where the radiator hose meets the engine. IAT stands for intake air temperature.

To DIY you're going to have to pull the dash. If you're going to take it to shop, be prepared to pay for 6+ hours of labor, quite expensive.

No NO NO do not pull the dash. On my 1998 it was outside the blend box. It's bad because of bad soldering in the motor circuit board, easy fix once you pull it. Yes the shops want 6hrs labor. My blend door shaft broke and I had to replace it. I found the bad soldering problem after fixing the door.

Blenddoor.com has a fix for that door problem...........

A: if when driving you hear a hum from the front end, especially when you turn. Tires may begin to wear unevenly. If its really bad the hum will get very loud, if you jack the car up the wheel sags.

It seems that you have a problem in the keyless entry module or one of its componets. This is the module that tell the alarm module when the doors are open, and when they are locked, and when to lock and unlock, either by operator on the door panel or keyless entry remote (KER). The ker uses RF signals, so make sure there are no other RF signals in the immediate area. This system is complicated. More specifics are needed. There are many variables at play. There is a trouble tree that tecnicians use, that walks you through many of the steps to diagnoise this and other related problems. Or it could be as simple as a worn out door hinge, or a short in the lock/unlock switch on the door panel. Make sure the doors stay shut. On a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer :

The tire jack and lug nut wrench are in the cargo area , on the drivers side , behind a removable plastic panel by the liftgate

The ( 2 ) rod sections used for putting the jack in position ( 1 section is used to lower the spare tire ) can be found just behind the rear seat ( go around to the passenger side and tip the seat back forward , lift the carpeted panel and you will see the ( 2 ) rod sections held in place with clips
