The washer solvent reservoir comes out from the bottom - which will likely involve taking the passenger side front wheel off and pulling back the wheel liner.

According to the 2002 Mercury Sable Owner Guide ( 5W-20 )

With engine oil filter change :

The 3.0 "Vulcan " V6 engine takes ( 4.25 litres / 4.5 U.S. quarts of 5W-20 )

The 3.0 " Duratec " V6 engine takes ( 5.2 litres / 5.5 U.S. quarts of 5W-20 )

Check the tires - especially the rears. Chances are really good one of them has had the steel belts separate.

Stuck open thermostat.

This is a tricky job. I have no idea why Ford buried the console access under so much junk, but there you are.

First, remove the upper and lower steering column shrouds.

Then you must remove the radio. (I know, sounds crazy, right?) If you're unaware of the procedure for this, find some long nails that roughly match the diameter of the four holes and insert them. Inserting the nails releases some clamps, allowing the thing to come loose.

Once the radio is out and disconnected, undo the four bolts holding the surrounding plastic (black, runs to steering column).

Now you should be able to unbolt and remove the duct covers surrounding the dash.

Remove and unbolt the dash meter unit. You'll have to disconnect the cable that links the gearshift to the gear display (It's just a loop that unhooks). The whole thing will pull out enough for you to unplug the electrical leads and separate the whole thing.

From there, it's just a matter of replacing burned out bulbs.

Don't forget to recalibrate the gearshift cable upon reconnection!

QUICK FIX If the dash lights are out and you see two green arrows: A solid slap with the palm of your hand on the left side of the hump forward of the steering wheel works every time.

The radio fuse on the 02-03 model Taurus is a 20 amp under the hood. There is 2 rows of small fuses running from front to back in the middle of the box. Its the middle fuse on the first row(on the passenger side of the box). Mine only had 3 fuses on the 1st row and 4 on the 2nd but that depends on your cars options. Ford sucks for not labeling there owners manual better, anyhow hope this saves someone the trouble I went through finding the fuse. have a good one.

I am unsure, but I THINK the fuse box is near the passenger door. Anyway, if you know where the box is, you can find the fuse.

2002

There are two fuses. Look in the owners manual fuse chart. The radio fuse is labled "Cell Port". It is a 20A fuse in slot #17. The other fuse is labeled "Rear Power, antena"

It is a 5A fuse. There is only one and they are both under the hood next to the battery.

According to the 2000 Mercury Sable owners manual :

That's your check transaxle warning light ( located in the bottom / left of the tachometer )

A problem has been detected , shifting may be restricted ( if the warning light stays on , have your vehicle serviced immediately )

Supplemental Restraint System ( air bags )

On my 98 Sable, it's up under the passenger side of the engine compartment - way towards the front.

Maybe the 2003 is still in the same neighborhood.

The heater hose connection is fully inside the engine compartment - so if you have leakage inside the car, chances are extremely high the core has sprung a leak.

# Enter the factory-set code # Prese the 1/2 control within five sconds of step 1. # Enter your personal 5 digit code. Enter each digit within five seconds of the previous one.

Do not set a code that includes five of the same number or presents them in sequential order. Thieves can easily figure out these types of codes. Your personal codes does NOT replace the permanent code that the dealership gave you. You can use either code to unlock your vehicle. If a second personal code is entered, the module will erase the first personal code in favor of the new code.

Unless you're comfortable taking apart a lot of stuff, bring it to the mechanic. If you have the dual overhead engine (which I am assuming), your alternator is located under the engine. Access can be found through the passenger side wheel well. You have to pull out the splash guard and do take out everything in the way. If it's located on top, simply disconnect your battery, take off the belt, disconnect the connectors, pull a few bolts... it's pretty self explanatory.
