You have just had a miscarriage at home should you seek medical attention?
DUH!!!!! you could DIE if you do not! YES. You may not know what caused you to miscarry. You need to see a doctor: you may have a serious reproductive disorder that could prevent you from ever having children, there may still dead blood in your system or you may get a serious infection. In most cities (I only know of these clinics in the USA) in there are Family Planning and Maternal Health Clinics run by the Government; (these are NOT Abortion Clinics). Look in the phone book under "Womens Health" "Family Planning" and tell the person who answers the phone that you have had a miscarriage. They will know what you should do, and the cost is very low, or none at all. I know this because I worked for the Department of Public Heath for six years as a medical assistant and interpreter (English/Spanish). If you still don't want to go to a clinic, PLEASE, see a doctor somewhere.

Is it normal to only have brown discharge and no blood during a miscarriage?
Yes it is normal to have brown discharge and no blood during a miscarriage. Brown blood is 'dead blood' and red is fresh. Your body is getting rid of waste materials.
Is your period actually a miscarriage?
A period is not a miscarriage - women have periods every month, whereas they do not necessarily have intercourse every month and therefore they cannot become pregnant. Every month after reaching puberty, a woman's body releases an egg - which could potentially become penetrated with a sperm, becoming an embryo. Slime will thicken at this time in the vomb to catch the egg (thus helping with the embryo making along with the sperm) and keep it safe while the embryo is growing. If the egg is not penetrated with a sperm the slime will release itself and come down in a form of a period. Not really, because your egg was not fertilized and it did not start developing.

You can have a miscarriage through out the pregnancy for different reasons.

If at all possible, go to the doctor to be sure.
If i have my period for longer than usual did i miscarriage or chemical pregnancy?
If you know for sure that you are pregnant, it is probably not going to be your period, although some women have experienced a "first" period then learns a couple of weeks later that they really are pregnant. It is possible that it could be implantation bleeding caused by the fertilized egg to attach itself to the uterine wall. Or it could be a cervical change that can cause vaginal bleeding. Vaginal bleeding can also be a symptom of ectopic (tubal) pregnancy. Another cause for bleeding during pregnancy is a miscarriage although the first two reasons for bleeding are more common, it is still a good idea to contact your doctor if you are too concerned.

What can you expect if you miscarry at 19 weeks?
I am very sorry if you've miscarried. Usually miscarrying at this stage isn't that common & if it did occur then you would have a 'mini' labor and may need a D & C if the miscarriage is not complete. Just wanted to say that I am sorry for your loss.
It is entirely normal for only the sac to be seen in the fifth week of pregnancy. In some pregnancies the tiny embryo will just be visible for the first time in this week, but for others it may not be seen until the next week. All that is visible before this is the sac, so it doesn't necessarily mean anything bad as yet. If you are cramping and bleeding it may mean a miscarriage but often this settles down. Your hCG level is another way of telling how things are going. This is measued with a pregnancy test using blood or urine.

Why do people have miscarriages?
The main reason for an early miscarriage is a genetic abnormality of the baby. Nature recognises that there is something wrong with the embryo and gets rid of it. In a smaller number of cases it will be because the mother is not producing the correct amount of hormones to support the pregnancy. This is usually the case with women who have multiple miscarriages. Later in the pregnancy, miscarriage can be due to the baby not developing correctly and dying. The placenta may come loose, or there is some hiccup in the developing organs.
From everything that I've read and heard from my doctor, it takes roughly 6 months after the shot has worn off (3 months after injection) for the hormone to leave your body completely, and in that time pregnancy is possible but not as likely as normal (if you hadn't ever taken the shot).
My best guess, honestly, is that your hormones are slightly off-kilter from the shot, hence the period then spotting (which is a side effect of the shot), and now lack of a period. I have always had very irregular periods, and I find that my first period after a long time is brown, simply because of the lining of the uterus being older than the red of that which is shedded monthly. The shot has an effect on the uterine lining, which could factor in why the bleeding was brown also.
In all honesty, I'm not a medical professional and the only way to determine if you are pregnant is a pregnancy test. If an over the counter one turns out positive, double check with your doctor if you are still concerned.
These are the 2 websites where I read up on what the shot does and the side effects it can cause, if that helps.

Would you get a positive pregnancy test at 8 dpo?
You can't get a positive pregnancy test until at least two days after implantation. As 86% of pregnancies implant between 8 and 10 dpo, it's unlikely that you'd get a positive as early as 8, but not impossible. Implantation can happen as early as 6 dpo in some cases, or you have ovulated earlier that you thought.
Hello, In all honesty it is difficult to answer your question accurately. Its possible you may of had a early miscarriage but it does sound more probable that you experienced a unusual period for you. Sometimes periods can arrive late and be more heavy and clottier than they usually are. But do make yourself a appointment with your doctor as soon as possible for a examination & a evaluation of your symptoms. Please note this is advice only & is not to replace that of a medical expert. Take care.
Why should you drink water and lay on left side when in premature labor?
Sometimes dehydration can cause preterm labor. My last 2 were trying to come early and the first thing they did was to give me an IV to make sure I was not dehydrated. As for the right side, it is for the same reason they tell you it is healthier to sleep on the right side during pregnancy..... it is easier for your heart. There is less strain. I always would breathe easier on the right side, too.
