a non-turbo engine will not hold up to the turbos you will have to put in hardened internals
Disable the security system by unlocking the hatch or driver's side door with the key.
Once the engine reaches normal operating temperture, the oil pressure should be somewhere between 25-40 psi. Even a pressure of from 15-25 is not something to be overly worried about.
I had the same problem. The turn signal/headlight lever on the left of the steering wheel needs to be replaced, or at least the leads cleaned. Good luck finding a used lever - they are scarce.
So did I, Twice. The first time, replacing the turn signal lever worked great for 6 months. Now I have the same problem, with the lights turning off on me while driving at night.
Anyone know where I can get a used lever? They are no longer in production.
It appears the alternator is low on the front of the engine on the passenger side. This link is how one guy replaced his. Truthfully, if you're asking where the alternator is, you probably shouldn't be attempting to do anything with it. I strongly suggest you search for the factory service manual for the correct year and buy it. They usually have reasonably good step by step instructions, and are invaluable for repairing your car.
Good luck!

If it's a Z31 you can swap in the VG30DET. For the Z32 you can swap in the VG30DETT, or what some people do Rb26dett (skyline engine). The former is a easy swap the latter hard. I've even seen a SR20 (silvia), 2 liter all aluminum in a Z32. Car's pretty heavy for 4 cyl torque, but needless to say the sr wasn't stock.
I'd do the VG30DETT easy, pretty cheap, and awesome.
you have to modify UIM and LIM notch the frame of your car. unless you get turbo 2 UIM and LIM but you will still have to modify the manifolds to accept the N/A Block. Also don't scimp on your fuel system.
(I'm in the process of doing this myself)
Cold start- 60 psi; warm to op temp- 30-40 @ 2500 rpm; idle approx 7 psi hot. BUT the sender unit for the OEM gauge is unreliable, fails, reads 0 one day different the next. Adaptors are available from Z31.com parts to install after market gauge kits. the capilliary tube type is most accurate as it works on direct oil pressure. Most OEM's do not use this as the real oil pressure fluctuautes as the revs rise and fall, "they" like a steady gauge reading, so electric compromises are built in. If in doubt, through out the OEM set up, go after market.
BIG===BIG JOB I suggest taking it to the garage as it will take a backyard mechanic weeks to do.
Replacing the head gasket on any vehicle is a long and complicatedprocess, however if you wish to see basic step-by-step instructions goto the related question on the right side of the page"How do you replace a head gasket?"
Yes, a bad distributor can cause the engine to fail to run, the distributor (distributes) a spark to the spark plugs that ignite the air/fuel mixture, if it is malfunctioning there might be no spark at all, there may be spark at only a few spark plugs, or the output may be intermittently bad which can make troubleshooting difficult.
check fan operation( fan on fan hi when does it blow?
I had the same problem...it was the clutch on the a/c compressor. Need to get another compressor.
An intercooler is placed in the airflow path between the turbocharger and the engine intake in order to cool the air after it has been compressed by the turbo. Compressing air heats it up. By cooling it back down, the air becomes denser. This means more air molecules go into the cylinder. This (when mixed with the proper amount of fuel) increases engine power compared to a non-intercooled engine.
Buy 5 quarts. The manual says about 3.5 quarts (with filter) but it typically takes just over 4.
